hey scott, can you tell me if holes in the spider need to be replaced? can you shed some light on my predicamnet?
-
i blew a voice coil in my 15" btl, how much are recones and is reconing it difficult?
-
yah those are holes in the spider from all the heat build up by the leads. im not sure if thats ok or not or if it needs to b replaced, but i have already shipped my sub back, so guys please let me know wuts going on with my sub.
-
I've uploaded photos of the damage, and it looks like the leads burnt holes into the layer beneath the cone. Check my gallery. would this need to be replaced? If so, it'll probably fall under a recone right?

i got the xtra 3rd magnet and cooling. is it possible i can send in my sub to yall to get fixd? Wen i had a technician look at it, he said i gave it too much power and blew the tinsel leads off the cone. Im not sure how it blew from too much power. 2 hifonics bxi1606 amps power my sub. any ideas??

lately i been noticing a popping sound coming out of my BTL. I got it hooked up to two hifonixs bxi1606. is this normal?? have any of you guys with btls heard this before??

shiet my gas mileage is even worse, slow ass 5.7 litre yukon denali. i fill up everyday 2 days for work. But having enough room for rediculous bass also has its advantages, lol. Tej your ride rocks!

Hi, I've gone through 4 or 5 systems and each one i try to make it louder and louder! I've had kicker vr, cvrs, l5, l7, then a RE SE and now i gotta 15" Loaded BTL. Jensen indash touchscreen, 2 hifonics bxi 1606s, 1 hifonics zxi6406, yellow top, alpine type 6.5s, knukoncepts 0 gauge wiring, and a dream cast to play my old school fighting games =) With the 15" SE, i was defintely the kid with the loudest bass in my high school. I would get tons of lookers and mean looking old people, but now with the 15" BTL, wen i drive into the parking lot of my work thumping, my co worker tells me the glass windows are shaking and his pencil is scuffling across his desk!! OMFG!! it doesnt even sound as loud from the outside of my truck, as it did when i had the RE SE, i guess it has to do with low freq notes that the human ear cant pickup, but it still throws the vibration far!! god i would love to have meades setup! 4 18"s jus sounds rediculously amazing!

Yanno what, i could be bottoming out my btl, iono how with two bxii1606s, but some songs with push the xiet out of the sub. The excursion level was kinda scary to tell ya the truth.
-
noo..havent bought one yet. i jus sent my truck to a shop so they could do the finishing touches. And scott, the popping sound occurs at high volume only. Not all the time, BUT lets say on my headunit, the parameters for the subwoofer level are -8 to +8. I got it at +2 and the volume is at 19 out of 40 and thats when the popping starts to occur. vladd, im mos def sure its not any part of the box thats moving, kuz its a heavy, sturdy 200+lb box. with the sub in it it weighs ova 250lbs easily.
-
yah im pretty sure i jus need to adjust my settings on the amp, but i still wanna kno why it makes that popping sound.
-
i had an extended cab z71 with a 15" re se and it made my roof flex like a muthafuca! extended cabs are great for subs kuz u can jus use that whole back area for a sub! Just today my rearview mirror broke off the glass in my Denali!! too much bass from the btl, haha
-
I got a 15" with the hixmax, 3rd mag,and pchamfer options. Its in a 7.5cuft box 48x20x20 with 1.5" thick walls all around, tuned to 32hz approx.. Yah on some notes when i turn my volume up a lil bit aggressively loud, there's a loud popping noise going along with the bass note. what could be the cause of this? because my volum setting is at 17 and it hits very loud, but the max total is 40! I cranked it up to 20 and it was just too much! my ears were hurting because of all the pressure and kuz of the popping sound. I'd like to really pound the xiet outa my sub without it making that terrible noise.

I just got my whole set up, up n running. And all i can say is it POUNDS!! i got:.. Stock alt optima yellow top 0 gauge wiring big 3 2 hifonics 1600w 1 zxi6406 250+ lb box [double baffled] I'm not so regretful of my decision to use 2 amps. It hits the low notes with incredible ferocity, even in my Denali!! I would love to own an ext cab truck again so i could see how it would pound in there!! LOVE IT!

Wire two mono block amps to a single dvc woofer? Is this even possible w/o the amps having to be made specifically for strapping?? I have two hifonics bxi1606d's that i wanna use to power my fully loaded 15" Btl, but i don't know how i would wire these up. Can someone plz help me out??
-
Well, i decided to say fudge it and took it to a reputable audio shop in Dallas. AT least they'll warranty everything. Yanno whut, another btl might not b too bad, but i kno the bxi1606 can hardly push the btl to its full potential. I would have to get something that push out at least 2500w. hmmm... does anyone wanna trade two practically brand new hifonics bxi1606 for an amp that will push my btl to its limit?
-
So are you saying that i need to upgrade my alternator to keep up with the current draw?? I already upgraded to the big 3 and got a yellow top. I'm gonna be running a total of 3 amps, the third one for my door speakers. Can you explain to me how i should go about making my BTL perform at its best?? If having two 1600w mono block amps, isnt doing it, then should i just get one amp that pushes out 3000w rms??
-
no i havent bought one yet, but i was messing with the settings. I got to set them both at the same time!! My box is massively heavy. 1.5" thick walls all around, approx. 7.5 cu ft internal volume tuned to 32 hz. my dimensions are 48 x 20 x 20.
-
Well i just installed my second amp today, and its not noticably louder. I figure with double the power i put into it, it would at least be a clear difference. I'm dissapointed with how it's sounding, is there anyone with hands on experience on running two mono amps to one sub???
-
i got 2 hifonics bxi1606d 's going into a fully loaded 15" BTL Dual 2 ohms..
-
Yah, i'm definately sure alot of other people would also like to kno more about running 2 mono amps to a single sub. It's cheaper than buying one BIG amp.
-
i jus want to be sure that when i set the settings on my HU for the subwoofer, it wont go haywire since its one output going into 2 mono amps. If i route da RCA's on da amp from one putput to the others input, whenever i mess with the setting on the headunit, will both amps get the same signal??
-
yah ur right, i can get that at any auto parts store pretty much rite?? O yah, for the RCA's, On my alpine cda9857 there's 3 rca preouts, one sub preout and 2 preouts for the front and rear. Should i get a rca wire splitter for the sub preouts on the deck and run both amp1 and 2 to the sub preouts? Or should i just plug amp1's line input to the deck sub preout, and have amp 2 connected from its line INout to amp 1's line OUTput?? plz help me out guyz, all replies are greatly appreciated!
-
is there another way of doin this that wont make me go out and buy a dmm? Do i measure the watts at the speaker terminals on the amp??
