Hello, For nearly 3years now, I've been using the very first 18" hAvoc that was made. But, sadly, it died on me, well, there is a chance of resurrection, but I doubt it... After continuous playback(around 5 hours), thumping, at a party, it got super hot to the point where the basket was almost to hot to touch, and, dindt work anymore, obviously... My amplifier is a Crown XTi2000 (2krms@4ohm) and the enclosure is a 7.3NET @ 17hz (PR setup), mainly built for movies. So, now, I'm looking for something somehow, bulletproof. And I think the mayhem should not get hot with the power I got, even on long term playing periods. Also, with the sensivity so high it'll be louder with less power, and I'm sure itll even sound better! So, I would like to know how much does it cost first of all, +shipping to canada ? Also, just wondering if Chad still works there ? And anything I should know about the mayhem? throw it in here, or any other sub you would suggest me thx

thx ! so thats a BTL ? or a custom sub with an FI softpart?

GREAT!!! thats what I like to hear! what amplifier you using ? does it rolls off quick on the top end ? lastly, you think itll be decent in 7.5net stuffed pink panther @ 17hz? let me guess, rotor wash at the beginning of Transformers huhhh, amazing depth of bass in this movie !! heheh, man, I already miss my 18 went back to the tc-10oem sealed for now I had laying around... man, its simply way too quiet, better than nothing though.... *ps; why is there such a huge margain on the BL factor between the two voice coil options dual1ohm/dual2ohm; 17.7T-m/26.2T-m, if I get one, it would be dual2ohm for sure to have a final load of approx 4ohm. the higher de magnetic force factor, the better it is in smaller enclosure right? you have pics of your setup?

Hey Scott, Maybe this could help... Glad to hear good news on Chad !! Great person ! Also, who is Nick? I've went to search members and there is a lot of Nick!!!? lol thx
-
yea ive noticed that but rlp are kinda weak thermal power wise... less than the havoc anyway... i dont want anything less than 1500-2000rms, and it has to be an 18"
-
yea I was looking at the re xxx18, the huge ones, and also the LMS ultra, but they went bankrupt so idk where they stand now... but I heard that the rexxx are way too nasty on the lows(good thing) but dont have good thump, kick.... so its basically strickly for low-end... thats what I liked about the havoc, it was loud on the low content and it was capable to have a decent slam as well.... Also, i will not change the enclosure, ive put lot of effort into it and it works like a champ, so the new sub will go right in, its 7.3net @ 17hz.

thx for the replies, so what should I do if I want louder, beefier than the havoc, and sound as good as the havoc, am I really gonna see a difference anyway in sound quality between the havoc and mayhem? btw I had some EQ on my havoc for serious low-end so eq isnt a problem at all.

well, in my experience... a subwoofer is a simple woofer that moves air. The enclosure you use will make it a HT sub or an SPL sub... The havoc that I had was excellent for HT, the lows, explosions, bullets were simply amazing, and people use to say its more of an SPL sub... well, I want a subwoofer that will achieve high sound pressure, great sensivity, and that supports a good amount of power for long period, and of course, with a lot of excursion... Also, correct me if im wrong, but AA was and is never gearing strickly for SPL, its always been high output with sound quality in mind .... anyways it was like that before, idk if it changed... PS* Im just curious, in your opinions, what qualifies as an SPL sub or an SQ sub??

why so?

Yes, but I want to know people that actually use them and abuse them, real-time experience, how good they are thermally.

the quarter-wave seems really complicated and beyond my capabilities of making such a box with angles and all that, I don't have the equipment to do these stuff. As for using the 10" in another box... it is impossible to have them in a .7cu.ft @18hz, even 1cu.ft @20hz.... these sub are great with PRs and sealed. and one of the 10" isnt working too well, it makes some weird noise at high excursion. I guess i'll stick with a sealed box, a sonotube might be interesting.

Hello, I was wondering if the 18" havoc(first gen) would work well in a sealed box for home use. Or with 2 18" PR would be better(tuned at around 19hz)? I have around 5.5cu.ft to 6.5cu.ft NET work with... its for movies and music, I want tight bass with monster lowz, I want nothing muddy. Any help or suggestion?
-
it's already stuffed with pink fiberglass I remember on the AA web site they were saying that it isnt recommend to use the havoc in a sealed box... this note is what makes me want to avoid the sealed enclosure...
-
quarter-wave pipe? never heard this? I'm running 2 10" tc-10oem each in .78cu.ft stuffed sealed right now and it does a great job on the lows, but I feel like im stressing them too much when I want it loud , I want sometime efficient, sound good and goes deep without struggling thx for the fast replies

got any new pics of the newer versions?
-
very nice! make some vidzz
-
^^this is teh first thing i learned by experience in the car audio world. lol cant agree more
-
IMO the havoc sounds sharper and clearer then the arsenal, maybe its cuz of the box but thats how i feel when comparing old versions (arsenal 15 and havoc 18)
-
so there will be no upgraded mid-bass poly driver?
-
it depends alot on the car... and how much power you got and most importantly the enclosure... IMO with one of these with 1krms with a good electrical and a sweet vented box you should not be below 140db thats for certain....

my amplifier released some smoke.. what do i do **PICS**

ok so i was bumpin' and after a while(10-15min), my fuse popped so i park/turn off the car, go to the back and change my 50amp fuse(got a couple for backup in the car) so then i turn on the car, i start turning up the volume VERY slowly... then I hear and see a BIG spark as if a thunder was in my trunk(the amp is naked)... and electrical smell and smoke went off, but not alot..., so i turn off the car straight up and go take off my rear battery's negative connections... so now idk what to do? what did cause this? and why my fuse popped in the first place(does that sometimes, not the first time)... is it safe to plug things bak? the reason i dindt is because I dont want my trunk to be caught in fire:blackeye: any help? here are some pics where the damage was..: you can see on the bottom the black spot -

so 1of the transistor popped? what does a transistor do in an amplifier and why did it do that? thx -
its nice to have a straight up date like that ; i assume that this date includes all the lines, subs as well as mid-bass driver?
-
hehe yea man mid-bass is really crazy, especially in trance and electronic music, rock, musical songs!! i like it when I feel the bass is coming in front of you, it's simply an amazing feeling! can't wait for them to be back in stock, im gonna get 2 or even 3 pairs what tweeter and crossover do you use?

try .6 cu.ft @ 39hz with around 600rms and put your subsonic filter
