how to use an oscope to set your gains correctly
NB50 replied to Lucky 76's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
In the videos disconnecting the speaker wires seems counter productive to me. When I adjusted mine with a scope I left them connected and went through tracks containing 20hz to 60hz in 1hz increments. Doing that showed that while at 25hz it wasn't clipping but if I went to 30hz it was and I was able to correct it so that no tracks were clipping. -
You could get the deuce try it and if your not happy with it with out the BB chips, I believe you can send it to Zed and have it upgraded for some extra money.

i no how much its rms is but i wana no how much it can actually handle. like with my bl its rms is 1000 but it can take way more. In my opinion if you have to ask how much it will handle, then you shouldn't put any more then rms. if you dont ask questions about subs that you have no idea about how would you learn about them? i was jus talked into goin with IA and ive never looked that much into them. As with any sub if you want to put more then rated power to it, you should know when it is reaching its limits. Someone could say they put 2000W to their DR, does that mean your going to be able to do it in your install. Maybe, maybe not.

I knew you were going to say something about that. It is sub displacement not port and it is not factored in because of the 0 below it where it asks how many subs. i was looking at the overall tuning/volume to compare all aspects equally since they all come into play . make sub displacement 1 and the tuning goes up ~8 hz. only ~1 hz off at the moment. the slot port will definitely get looked at tho. i'll tweak it and check it like a mofo before posting it up again. i have a vague idea how i'm gonna do it already. just gonna get it down on paper before i start coding it up. a few variables and simple math will fix it right up. i just wish i could edit my original post glad you caught that tho. everyone including myself overlooked it Yeah the tuning formula looks good. that is why I had .25 for sub displacement, was to make the volumes equal to check tuning. I commend you on the effort, but it is a big project as there are a lot of holes with all the different slot port scenarios that could be used. There is a reason I stuck to just creating multiple spreadsheets for each type of box.(Aside from the fact that I don't do programing.)

No, you were already taking to much. You only needed .75" instead of 1.5" because only one port wall is in the enclosure not both sides.
-
Here is what I got compared to your calculator. Checking it against RE. Checking it against Sketch up.
-
So then your calculating the port displacement as a straight port with no bends and that doesn't use a box wall and the top and bottom as its sides?

The fault looks to be in when you calculate port displacement.

Hifonics XXV Sampson or Memphis 4000d mojo amp ? Please help

My mistake, just the way it was worded. Saying you were going through a lot of amps then talking about the protection features got me. What does your electrical look like. -

Can you even get them anymore? The company went under quite awhile ago but is rumored to come back.

Why not post max dimensions instead of making people ask for them?
-
That would work if you were going to use one port but you said you want two. For two of them to tune to 30hz and keep the same dimensions, they are going to have to be 15in long each. So that would put you at 4.15ft^3 @ 30hz after all displacements.

hay bromo i get 2.19 at 34.5 hz lol's i think the 2.11 was a typo just say some thing if it is not. it not worth learning unless you learn it. i used a port that was 1.5 x 13 x 20 it came out to be 31.84 hz it close enough to be right on the money because of rounding here and there in the same box out side dia 33.5x14.5x12 inside dia is 32x13x10.5 divide by 1728 give aprox 2.53 cuft minus sub .16 displacement and port displacement of .186 equals 2.19 cuft . if you play a good test tune threw it it will fell like it's correct. tuned right at 32 seen a few manufacture's tune lower because it sounds better and they round up to the first ones place. Nope no typo. Your port displacement is to small, you need to remember to take the inner port wall thickness into account when figuring port displacement. Also bjs, I would consider more port area if you can.

I got it figured out after all displacements to be ~4.38ft^3 @ 52Hz hi bromo i wondered over here for a wile

After all displacements that enclosure will be 2.11ft^3 @ 34.5 hz.
