RE Calculator for FI BL 15 Help

Follow 98GMC recommendations and you will be at 3.71ft^3 @ 32.78hz with 14.15 in^2/ft^3 of port area after sub and port displacement. Just to reiterate the dimensions enter these into RE to get a cut list. Width = 28 Height = 16.5 Top depth = 22.75 Bottom depth = 22.75 Wood thickness = .75 Port width = 3.5 Port length 2 = 5 The only thing RE's calculator if halfway decent for is its cut list. I say halfway decent because if your not careful with the port dimensions it can mess that up.

  7. Hate to break it to you but the box is to small. After port and driver displacement your looking at 1.65ft^3.

    BTL 12 Ported Enclosure

Port length is determined on net box volume, port area, and tuning frequency. So when you are changing the area from say 30in^2 to 35in^2 and have the same volume and tuning frequency, you will need a longer port. I would take the extra space you have and add in a double baffle and some bracing.

  19. that was gonna be my next question before i tore it down... i see the big strip is at say the south end... and the next one the strip is on say the north side....on and on... does it matter.! ps: im drunk i hope that came out right. And yes it matters a lot. You have to keep those slashes the same as they were before, otherwise the power supply will not function properly at all. oh no... cause the one im replacing is missing and i have no clue what way it went to awwwww You've got a picture of the amp guts, you should be able to tell which way it goes off of that. Sometimes its even marked on the board which way they go.

    box for fi btl 15.

    In internal dimensions with the port in the box already are (Assuming .75" wood and those are external dimensions) ((23.75 * 13.75 * 14.5) + (9.942 * 4.75 * 14.5)) / 1728 = 3.1365 ft^3 - sub displacement of .21 = 2.92 ft^3 2.92ft^3 with a port area of 58in^2 and a length of 33.808" = 35.61 Hz

    box for fi btl 15.

Looks, not right. 2.93ft^3 @ 35.6Hz after all displacements.
  24. That computer will be sick. I love my i5, got it overclocked to ~3.6Ghz and it encodes video like a banshee (even when it wasn't overclocked I might add). Should last him quite awhile.

    Welcome to the IHoP

from the sounds of it something running a 64 bit OS with a good chunk of RAM and you should be set. I garuntee my quad core would be more than enough for his needs, but since the I cores are out you could get an i3 or i5. Sean just slapped together something pretty good for real real cheep recently I know. I think he used an i3. Does the size of the case matter? You could just use the old case and same some $ though. What do you think the budget is? Size of the case doesn't matter. For budget I'll say $600. I will also have to buy an OS. Should I go Win7 or stick with XP? What do I need to look for in a case? I saw this combo on new egg that looks pretty good. Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more! Very similar to what I just built. I have the 750 with the Asus P755D EVO motherboard and I love it.
