Alright, I figure I'll get lots of things I did wrong pointed out, oh well. Bear in mind that this is my personal vehicle and it won't be my primary for more than a couple more years (if it lasts that long as many miles as I drive weekly). The goal is active 3 way from passive 2 way with a clean looking setup and of course, a new woofer (since the Quatro was only meant to be temporary). I'll start with the boring "thank you's" first. Thanks big time to all of these people: Pete with Team Toxic Bass and Hexibaseforum.com (user = Hexibase) for the enclosure design help Scott at Fi for answering all my questions and selling me a great woofer Scott (xbrightsidex) and joe (paint toad) from s10forum.com for putting up with all of my pictures as I built and chatting with me about stuff Jimmy (aka Tempe on many many forums) for also putting up with me and my pictures Danssolow from Hexibaseforum.com/diymobileaudio.com/mys10.net for helping me find my xover Some random guy named Jeff Smith who I bought the xover from used for $125 shipped All of the forums I frequent for help: www.s10forum.com/forum www.hexibase.com/forum www.diymobileaudio.com www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum http://www.pesupport.com/cgi-bin/config.pl Now to the build: Some of what I already have: I'll be using Audax 1" textile dome tweeters for now. I have a feeling all speakers in the front are going to change this coming summer, but this is a big step up from passive 2 way to active 3 way. Hifonics 1206D 2 7" Dayton reference 4 ohm 2 5" Dayton reference 4 ohm (I'll probably not be using the 7" and use the 6.5" Dayton classics in the doors already...they have a better low end IMO) quick sketchup the glue I'll be using I already had all the MDF from building boxes for other people, and the glue too, so...the only cost to build this box will be the 6" pvc, the woofer, binding posts, T-nuts, and carpet if I carpet it.

what song is that?

mine's doing well with a 6" PVC port

i did fairly well on this portion of my first engineering circuits test 3 years ago. then i fell asleep in class after that section and my circuits grade went to crap. BUT, at least i remembered how to do all this stuff and it's pretty darn simple with subs
-
so if I understand this correctly, you have one dual 2 ohm sub and you want to add another and you want a final impedance of 2 ohms? if thats the case, one dual 2 ohm sub wired in series gives you 4 ohms. wire that in parallel with another dual 2 ohm sub wired in series and you get a final load of 2 ohms. OR you could wire each sub in parallel and wire them together in series for 2 ohms. either way, it works. here's the wiring diagram:

i tried the same thing, after about 30min to get half a hole done i went to my uncle and borrowed his jigsaw. now i own a jigsaw and a router(havent used it yet, also wish i would have known to get the spiral upcut bit) also get the circle cutting jigs from parts express for the router. they'll make your life so much easier

glad i never liked the crap stuff. my first sub was a 12" MTX 8000 with only 12mm xmax, big whoop. respectable first sub though. now when people are telling me about their cheap systems (had a guy telling me about his explorer with 3 xplod's in a sealed box), i just say "ok, i've heard of those subs before" and make no more comments. if i feel like showing off, i'll make them get in the passenger seat and rock their world before i tell them what i have or "how many" cuz they always ask. just a single 12" Q. sounds like crap outside when cranked (everything rattles on the outside), but its amazing when you sit inside cuz its nice and deadened in there. excursion doesn't make the sub. -
took about 12 days from the time of order for it to be built, shipped, and in my vehicle

i emailed scott a couple times before i knew about this forum or before i made my purchase. it usually took a few days, but i got a reply. the one time i got a reply at like 3am (EST) and i replied back and about 5 mins later i had another reply so i replied and again, about 5 mins later i had another reply. we were basically having a conversation over email. and actually thats the night he told me about this forum and the promotion if i posted up all my stuff i think customer service is A++ as well, especially now that i know that i can contact two other people besides scott

so where's the vid of the BL firing in a box at the deli food tearin it up like a newspaper? that would be a real battle of the subs
-
i hope its an ex cab s10. it'll be awesome and if you do it you should post pictures in the sound and security section of s10forum.com cuz there's alot of guys there that'll be happy for you too

im very excited, i love that you actually took the time and designed a box with a flat curve specific to your vehicle instead of using WinISD and guessing that your box will be good. everything looks awesome. which line of RCA's from Knu are those? i just ordered a set of the 4ch 6m kyrstal kables to replace my klarity kables which are not the best in the world... -
if i had a 250 amp alt layin in my closet, it woulda been installed a loooooooong time ago
-
i definitely understand the need for an Fi myspace. its the largest and fastest growing social website...its kinda like free advertising
-
mmk. i wear large btw

a 24" cube box is more like 6.5 cubic feet cuz the MDF takes up space i also would not suggest setting a TV on the box...the magnets can mess with the TV's color. That's why they make shielded woofers that you can use near TV's.

been a while since i sent scott my links to my threads. any word?
-
its run to the fuse block in the back and grounded with all the amps

4/1/07 I like my KnuKonceptz Klarity Kables RCA's, but I am getting a little bit of noise in my system. The first culprit I believe is my RCA's since my power wire is actually run inside the frame rail about 1ft over from the RCA's run on the floorboard. Its just a little bit of noise, and no alternator whine, so hopefully better RCA's will help. Here's what I just bought because I had $30 just sitting in my PayPal account http://knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KRY4.6M Red/white for front stage, blue/black for sub

wish i had been there
