im just about ready to pull the trigger on a Focus Hatch and im really debating putting 4 18" MJ's in it (sealed). ive been wanting an SQ leaning S Q L setup for a while. The enclosure however would have to have 2 of the 18's firing up and 2 firing down. Does anyone know if this style enclsosure would even work? im not too framiliar with wave cancellation and other technical aspects but im just trying to get a feel if this idea is plausible. its this same concept however I would be building the box myself: http://cgi.ebay.com/4-HOLE-10-CHAMBERED-CO...1QQcmdZViewItem ALSO ive searched just about every MJ 18 thread on the forum and im still trying to get more feedback on how these subs do sealed? im looking for good low-end extension and above average SQ.

I would say you're going about it as wrong as you can... ok, any idea what would be better? maybe 4 12" MAW's ported low? any ideas/ comments are welcomed

lookin at buying a new vehicle and im wondering what the best vehicle would be for 2 18" BTL's ?? iwas thinkin Grand cherokee but i dont think theres enough room, what vehicles do you suggest i check out?

thanks guys

hey i saw the amp has 4x40 amp fuses. i have also talked to a couple sundown guys who say you can get 2500 rms at .5 ohms with 14 volts. i dont understand how you can get 2500 watts from 160 amp's ?? because 160 X 14.4 and 85% efficiency equals 1958 watts i dont doubt that the amp puts out the power i just would like an explination why

sure am, i fit 9 cubes in my range but when i looked at my friends grand cherokee i determined that 12 cubes would go abve the window line which isnt a big deal so i guess ill go with a Grand cherokee

BTL's it is

with 2K RMS should i go with a BL or a BTL ??? i hear most people run their BTL at like 4k rms or 3k rms and i would rather run a BTL if it wont be vastly underpowered....i was reading on the forum and i think it was tejcurrent who ran 2 18" BTL's off of 2 hifonics 2K RMS amps and hit right below 151. so if i ran 2k to a Bl would it get just as loud as 2k on a BTL ?

awesome man, if you dont mind go ahead and tell me how your bro's Bl does with 2K. thanks and you can either post on this link or catch me on aim TREY4SPORTS

nice job grim, dont ya just hate those kids who talk up POS subs?
-
yeah the install is def huge in your numbers but i compared his setup to mine because they will be strikingly similar. same subs both around 15 cubes both are subs up port back and both 4k rms total
-
im running a pair of either 2 bl's or 2 btls. both would be fully loaded and recieve a total of 4k rms as a pair
-
with cooling, 1200 will be just fine on the BL
-
for my next setup im thinking about possibly doing either 2 18" BL's or 2 18" BTL's, i know it would be much easier on my electrical system running two BL's rather than 2 BTL's. but i have a couple questions. first is 2K RMS enough for each fully loaded BL ? second, would a BL get louder on 2K RMS than a BTL ? and third does the BL have better SQ than a BTL ? thanks in advance
-
thats cool no biggie, but what i really am trying to figure out is how the BL perofrms in the SQ dep ? i know its between the Q and BTL, but does it retain sq even at higher volumes, because i know a lot of good spl woofers lose control when you really push them and notes become less transient and blend together
-
because if i did a BTL setup i would power each one with 4k and if i did a bl i would power with 2k.... so that is where the elctrical system comes in... and secondly i was just curious as to effiiciency of the bl vs btl out of sheer curiosity
-
i was never going too...im gettin a 300 amp alt from iraggi, but what i was insinuating is that 8K RMS is going to make any electrical system work much harder...but no im nowhere near dumb enough to try and power 4k rms out of a stock electrical thats flat stupid..
-
if your looking for a cheap alt. look for a MA HK4000D
-
ive heard that both subs retain decent SQ even on higher volumes. overall both woofers are awesome and customer service here at Fi is on point. so you cant go wrong

nice bassrace score chad, when u hit ur burp score what freq did u burp at?
-
im not sure on this one, and certainly wait till shawn or nick awnser for you, but ive personally heard some of the smaller, peakier box's will put up the best burp numbers so i would say that the loudest of those would be the smaller one

that will be absouletely sick dude, literally i mean if i were to sit in it im sure i would puke/sh!t or just pass out.
