why are stetsom amps so pricy???
bumpin bass replied to SMpaintball78's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Guess you didn't see the whole post in here about his skills And talking about cost of amps, yeah one thing is what the actual cost is, then comes the fact of running a credible company that isn't just a basement and a dell laptop at your moms house. Also the fact that some companies actually do pay tooling, not just the heatsink, but actually the pcb as well, not so cheap there either. Then you also have the companies who warrant their products and back it up with full support because they are companies and not just some ALIBABA scavengers. And if you think a 10 USD profit is great on a 300 USD product, then again it shows that you must be living in a basement doing drop shipping of OEM stuff you just rebadged with a nice sticker you made yourself with some duct tape and a pen from wall mart. But hey, then at least you can claim that you run Hand made American stuff -

Hell, I have to laugh at Julian, as if Skar is the shizz. Oh I forgot to mention that their surrounds are at least. And even if AQ is cheap at least they have some knowledge compared to some of the fellas at the shizz company with good surrounds, which now claims they designs amps (& of from what country LOL). If you want larger Class D amps, not many options, either South American or Korean. Then of course you could go with the Chinese and have the potential problems that might include. Really don't see why South Korean amps of higher quality should be bashed, again you get what you pay for. They could probably make the cheasiest amps you want, but you could also get the best you want, made of the best components. Don't see anyone bashing the Samsung LED tv's, or their parts you see in Apple iphones etc. -
B2 M1S Amp

@ Bass master, stop BS'ing... There was never any M1s sold to Cornelis, from what I understood he had 1pcs of the first generation m1.. Which in fact worked well for those who know how to use it..... I had mine doing 5.8kw at 0.25 ohm, with rise to 1.1 ohm batt from 13.1 to 9.2V, which was more than I got out of my DDz2LV, (but I reckon that that amp is crap as well Bass master) Back on topic, haven't tested the M1s, but Electric Team in Italy didn't have any problems getting the rated power. Neither did the Swedish champion in Street 100A. -

I was 100% sure they were a Scandinavian / Danish brand. They even reply in those languages on their facebook. Haven't tried portugese yet, but I am pretty sure they aren't from Brazil -
intetnet brand amps.

Have to give headz up to Sundown for supporting the industry and actully using money on their designs. On the other hand, I understand those that just want to the cheap option out there, but if there weren't any companies pushing forward new designs, then none of the "discount" brands would exist. Still I might see a problem coming up due to business ethics from some buildhouses, nearly selling to anyone like prostitutes. Not even thinking of the "old" customers that has some kind of sales policy, warranty etc. being buttfu by "discount" brands selling the same at nearly the same time as well. In the end, people can get a brand product and the service that comes with it or just settle for xyz and get tons of excuses when shit happens. -

Someone pushing their equipment beyond realistic limits is the fault of the owner, not the amplifier. There's not much inherent to an amplifier that would cause an audible difference like you describe. There's something more to the story. It really depends. If the manuf claims that this is what the product Will do at 0.5 ohm, then many Will do it. I've heard differences from a well known chinese oem vs a well thought through design with better components. Power in the latter was less, but also more alive and enjoyable at least giving me a better experience. Again it comes back to us, as Long as it is more power then hey it has to be good, no matter if it is square waves. Lol -

Also need to keep in mind that power isn't all. I've seen a 1k sound way more alive and dynamic than a 1.5k from another brand. Hell some people are even willing to accept thd levels above 10% and 0.5 ohm loads instead of getting an amp that can do the job at a higher impedance and way less thd. I'll take a 2k at 1 ohm and under 1% thd anyday over a 3.5k at 10% and 0.5 ohm. -

ROFLMAO - Classic statement after the previous threads... -
Great job Jacob. Nice to see some thoughts behind a product.

SKAR Class D Amp Prototype Pictures (800W & 1500W)
bumpin bass replied to Skar's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Actually, on the Skar amp, the clamp is just shorter and then has an additional one to cover that surface. On the other amp, the clamp is that much longer so it is not necessary with 2. -

Rubenen, that is a terrible analogy, FYI. Also, I can tell they are different because of the way they are aligned and positioned. Guess I'll have to post my reply here as the other thread got locked. ok, sorry my bad for terrible analogies, but at least I'm that much aware on amps to say that those 2 boards are identical if you don't look at the color differences. Besides mosfets can be horisontally placed, angled, vertical etc, dont mean that they don't use the same.. And the positioning is identical as well. But ok, let's know do you use FDA's IRFC's or am I way out of line for asking about specs that goes beyond what the basic eye can tell? What's the drain to source voltage? slew rate, what filters do you use LR, BW, 12dB/18dB/24dB? Little actual info besides claims of being a designer instead of letting people know what your real edge is. -
