New member, curious about si subs

oh so you aready got an IDMax? The "old" magnum in my opinion was very similar to it. i dont think your going to notice a very big differnce with the switch. if its not good enough for you perhaps you should try putting a little more thought into your enclosure. I personally dont think another 300 bucks on a sub is going to justify the upgrade youll get. I think the magnum wasa little more accurate, but didnt drop quite as low. i messed with both subs quite a bit. The magnum seemed to be able to deal with mire power a little better too. But all in all i think you should work on your box if its just not doin it for you.

New member, curious about si subs

the SI D2 is in the category that people call "super subs" or "uber subs". The SI D2 is in the opinion of many and incredibly acurate sounding sub. You would compare it upon subs like the XXX, Brahma, W7, IDMax. It works wells in small sealed boxes and from what ive heard from others just as well ported. Small power also is no problem as it is a very efficient sub. In those terms its similar to an IDMax, and IDMax's can get movin very well with minimal power. Now in my personal opnion this is not the sub for the bass finatic. It plays everything well and how it susposed to be, and it can still drop very well, but from what ive experienced its not that sub thats going to play the oberbearingly low notes with lots of power behind it (im refering to the horibly unblanaced rapper cars where you hear bass and hardly any vocals). Of course this will vary depending on enclosure and i have built a enclosure for it designed specifically to knock out those overbearingly lows (10-25hz). But do keep in mind that even those rap songs with so uber low drops are only briging about 30-35hz. 20-30hz is more what you would get from test tones or ocasionally some techno. and majority of people can even make out the note played on a 20-30 hz (20 and below is the hearing cutoff for humans) all in all, subs is a great value, a fanastic driver, and has not been toped by any subs i have yet to hear (and ivve heard all the above mentioned subs. Though i do have to be fair and say that i did not make sure al the subs above were in boxes designed to give optimum SQ, since my SI D2 was. And the new versions might be even better

SI 12" sub vs. SX, OV2, Lethal injection

the magnum d2 i the greatest SQ sub ive ever heard at least in my opinion. i caNT say about the ov.2 cuas ei never heard it but the amgnum in my opinion out performs he old A series and they said the ov.2 was susposed to be on par with the old a series. its definently bette than the re sx. I feel that its better than the RExxx and the xx is a model above the SX. As for lethal injection arent those stricly spl subs? im not sure but i know magnums get sickly loud. The have the best SQ ive ever heard and they get very loud. 600 watts it nothing for this sub but will defintly get it moving. it got to loud for my taste off A linear power 2.2 hv (600watts rms). and many people run them daily with 1000-1500. hope that helps

can i please get a WinISD file for 15 inch magnum

that wasnt working for me., it needed more inforamtion and wouldn save the file.
  21. does anyone out there by chance have a file made for WinISD pro alpha? for 15 inch magnum. i had it but lost in durring reformatting (yeah i used to be a computer nerd hehe) but now when i try to make one with the updated alpha pro it says stuff is missing and i need more specs. but on the bright side, it seems the updated pro alpha might be more accurate with magnums? i know lots of stuff looked really crummy on paper wth it in the old pro alpha, but modeling up a 12incher ported in there (yes i kept 12 inch files) it had a better F3 than the ported 15s from the old version.

    speeker wire

all the fancy stuff really doesnt make much of a difference for cars. think about it, for most people youll be running wire undercarpets and behindd walls and stuff. it makes a difference for home casue your running all over the TVs and elecronics and stuff. that all interferes somewhat but speaker wire is speaker wire. car and home all use the same stuff generally unless you get fancy.

    speeker wire

yeah man get canare starquad 10 awg!!!!! jk, i actrualy heard that as long as your wires are twisted then generally they aint gunna get much better than that for car aplications (very different in home) and its even more difficult to hear noise comming though your subs from stuff like that. depending on how much power you are running determines the appropriate gauge wire. and since you didnt say im assuming you have something around 1000 watts? which in that case i would suggjest 12 or 10 awg. you could use 16 guage i supposes, but if you look at the amperage that 16 gauge is rated for youll see why most wouldnt use it with this much power. just think amps times volts equals watts, so if you find a site that will list the amperage that different size wire is rated for, just multiply it by the volts you have and that will tell you your wattage. match the rated wattage of the cable to your amp. but heck make it easy on your self just get 12 or 10 gauge and youll be fine lol.
