I know what you want to hear. Go with one bigger amp dont limit yourself to fosgate(although great amps)there are so many choices. Dont forget with that much power though you are going to need a subsonic filter to keep the woofers from unloading and facing potential damage. -
I would get a sub capable of higher power handling. Then scour all the classifieds for a good amp. When i got that sub i would get ahold of a oscope or similar device to set the sony amp and make sure i wasnt sending a clipped signal. If the memphis sub is pretty new he can probably sell it to put towards the price of a new sub.Btw the i run 2 fi ssd 10's they are really good subs.

Amp troubles
snyderd758 replied to Sawyer's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
you really dont need to buy any of the options for the subs they are way underrrated(i have 2 fi ssd 10's)get at least a 1000 watt amp and a nice ported enclosure built to spec and you will have a perma smile. -
How wide can you make the box?
-
on the order form it states a 6.00 mounting depth. If i recall right your didnt have alot of mounting depth either(i drive crew cab silverado). Are you gonna have to modify your box as the actual mounting depth is closer to 6.75.

do you have mounting depths for the 10 inch models. I cant for the life of me find them. -
cool. Thank you very much that is what needed to know!

How much space do you need between the box and subwoofer? I have 6.25" deep box and i really want a pair of ssd's but with a mounting depth of 6" i want to make sure that ventilation and performance wont suffer.thanks-Dave.

confused :( Fi SSD10 or Sundown SA-10
snyderd758 replied to JohnHinerman's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Let us know how they sound. This thread has seriously perked my interest in the fi ssd's. I am probably going to order a pair late next week(payday)they will go in a chevy crew cab so kinda similar to you application. -
no input from anyone?

As the title states I am stuck between the 2. I have 1.0 cubic foot sealed per sub. power will come from an alpine mrp m1000 so 1000 watts at 2 ohms. I listen to mainly hard rock ie five finger death punch, metallica etc. I like my bass hard hitting but accurate. All this will go in a 2009 chevy silverado crew cab head unit is a pioneer avh p 4300 and alpine components up front. Both subs are virtually the same price i was hoping some of you may have had a chance to compare them and what your opinions are. Also as far as the ssd's go for those of you who have them what options do you believe are important especially as far as my setup goes. Thanks in advance-Dave

I woud get the higher power handling you will probably want to to upgrade later. 1200 watts should be pretty loud though so i dont think your severely underpowering the fi's i would get those then start working on my electrical then start saving for a higher power amp if your not happy with the output. -
Hi i have a 2009 chevy silverado crew cab. I want to buy a pair of the sundown audio sa 10's im just concerned my box is a little small. The box is 1.02ft3 per chamber ported tuned to 36hz before driver displacement. Im currently running 2 jl audio 10w3v2 in a small sealed box(under the back seat which is where the new box will go)my sub amp is an alpine mrp m1000 i am running alpine components in the front and the deck is the pioneer avhp4300 which i love. I listen to almost exclusively metal ie disturbed, five finger death punch etc.... will these subs work in this box and how will they sound. I downloaded winisd and modeled them but to be honest i dont have a clue what i am looking at. If someone has other suggestions for different brands i am all ears my budget ceiling is about $400 i have seen rave reviews about the sundowns plus i wanted to take advantage of the current sale. One last thing the max mounting depth i have to work with is 6.25 inches. If anyone wants to look at the box it is at fox acoustics it is the one for 2 tens for the silverado crew cab.thank you and i hope i didnt ramble if you need any more info please let me know.thanks again-dave.
