Did my big 3 today and wiring questions
Big E replied to Yang's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
That's because copper costs more, and it'd cost more to buy the wire from knukonceptz if you bought copper wires. Pay more = get more back from recycling. You paid less for your wires, that's why you got less back. -
4 more 3000D's please

These are a tad late, but better than never... My desk: Sub corner loaded: The enclosure, loaded (if you noticed the electrical tape on the sub...I slipped with the drill and put a small hole between the cone and surround Been too busy to get some black silicone so that's gonna do for now): The rest of the room: Overall, I'm very pleased with the sub. The SQ on it is rather good, and it's quite a bit louder than expected/necessary. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Concrete ceilings...this building was meant to double as a minimum security women's prison if the college should fail. My roommate and I both always lock the door, so I'm not worried about it. I've already had an RA (resident assistant) tell me to turn it down...but that's just because it was 11 pm (past quiet hours). Plus, its a college dorm, everyone I've been is has NOT been quiet, they've all been loud, rowdy, and lots of people had loud stereos. *you can always turn something that is to loud down to a lower volume, its a lot harder to turn something that isn't loud enough up to a higher volume* Describes my dorms exactly...with me having the loudest setup

It is a bit glossy, but then again I was half expecting/wanting it to be, so I like it. It's been in my room for a few days, but I haven't gotten around to stealing the camera back from my mom though. I'll try and snap some pics of it this weekend. P.S. I took your advice topgun, and cornerloading is definitely the way to go

He said Cami, not Camry. This is a cami: I understand why you can't find a HO alt for it now

Why not get one 200 amp HO alternator instead?

RF T1001BD not 1 ohm stable???
Big E replied to Jdm94Coupe's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Is your amp with your battery under the sub box and wood? (as you mentioned on ca.com) If so, it may not have proper ventilation and that may be why it went into thermal. Something also may have been fried when it went into thermal and you need to get it repaired. -
Dry fit: Ports painted: Partially assembled: Fully assembled: Painted: (The paint was still wet when this picture was taken; it looks better in person. The holes on the bottom aren't filled because, well, it's the bottom of the box and I didn't really care to do them.) Paint used: Pics of the sub and amp loaded and in my dorm room in a day or two.
-
The box is built, it just needs to have the wood putty sanded down and then it's all set for paint. Pics of the build when I get the camera tomorrow. Total time sanding thus far = 3 hours (I, apparently, suck with a circular saw and drawing accurate size lines).

What's your major? To everyone else, what are you guys studying? Whoops, I'm going for Electrical Engineering.

I just had my first classes today at Grand Valley State University (Allendale, MI). I'm a freshman right now, and I plan on getting a master's degrees...so I've got a ways to go.

Bypass the bolts with wires and see if the subs start playing; if so, the bolts need to be swapped.
-
I'd try swapping out the bolts. Most bolts nowadays have a protective coating to help prevent rusting and all that good stuff; however it also severely limits its ability to conduct electricity as well.
-
Absolutely , actually I'll be using it as a foot massager under my desk, facing the wall of course

Does anybody have experience with Dayton plate amps (namely this one)? I'm in the process of building a small, compact subwoofer setup for my dorm room on a budget, too (read: less than $150 for amp, preferably). Any other suggestions for amplification? The sub is the Sundown E12 prototype (dvc 4), so I'll most likely be running at 8 ohms.
-
After further research, I've decided on the dayton. I should have a build log up within a week.
-
What are you talking about? They're under "M" at the bottom... Edit: If you're talking about on the sale page, it's already been mentioned that he is currently out of them, but SSA here has some left.
-
I'll take the E12...pm sent.
-
Read it again, he has a d1 sub.
-
Edit: Reading > me Your wiring is fine...are you sure the sub isn't dead? Did you buy from Fi or used?
-
Do you have pics of it on arrival, or before you glued it shut? If not, I'm gonna raise the BS flag. Edit: You shouldn't have tried to fix it if it truely was a "manufacture defect".

Hopefully those shenanigans don't come this way
