George Carlin Dies At 71 In L.A

I was sitting around a bonfire telling George Carlin jokes right before this hit the news too

    i think i have a bad cell

Aren't you the one with 5 solenoids in your car? I'd take everything this guy says with a huge grain of salt.
  3. I would set the HPF on your 404 around 60 and set the LPF on your 702 to the same.

    slapping sound?

Play a song and feel around the port and around the ring of the sub when you have that noise. If you can feel air coming through, you need to put some sort of weatherstripping between them, or find some way to seal that off.
  5. Dual 1 is no better than Dual 2. If you get a dual 2, the Sundown SAZ-1500D is on sale right now, and with conservative gains (Don't need them all the way up) it'd be a perfect match.

    Denon AVR-686S

Circuit City has the AVR-688 for sale, $299, this week. Personally, I'm a fan of Onkyo. The Onkyo TXSR506 has the same features as the Denon AVR688, and it's the same price as the Denon, $299, however it's much simpler to use. If you have any questions about the Onkyo receivers just let me know -- I've spent some time researching them
  8. For the 704 you're going to want the LPF off, and the HPF right around 60hz (this is around where the LPF on the 300.1 should be set). Basically, it's in the name. High pass filter allow the high's to pass, and a low pass filter allows the low's to pass.
  9. I've built quite a few boxes over the last few years, and they've all been with screws. However, I have the opportunity of getting a brad nailer (either a Hitachi or Porter and Cable) for free. It seems like brad nailing would make things go a lot faster, but I have no experience with them. I was wondering which you guys prefer, and why?

    THE MONSTER LIVES

Single baffle on a wall??? That's one of the most unsafe enclosures I've seen in a while.

    power wire

I use 12 gauge on 1,000 daily and it's never gotten warm; even on full tilt for several minutes.
  12. Sundown's amps hold their own against Audison (with regards to SQ) :fyi:

    HBD! Aaron

    Happy belated Birthday!
  14. Thats not what im looking for needs to be silver and thread less posts just like in the pic. Im tryn to match the posts on te woofer exactly, due to the fact the other side broke off during shipping! I'd be more worried about the basket The only way to get matching terminals is to call the subwoofer company and see if you can buy direct.

    SSD 18 Sealed?

Did you guys ever finish testing the SSD in sealed enclosures? What would they like best? My friend is looking at getting an SSD 18, but doesn't want to give up all of his room for the box, so sealed is really the only route here (not to mention he likes rock so sealed is better too).

    SAE-1000D Questions

More people would believe that it's a 1000 watt amp if it were longer I have a lot of people doubt that mine puts out a true 1000 watts until they hear it. I like the small format but the extra few inches wouldn't bother me either.

    Another route for larger amp...

Is this amp mainly directed at those classes that only allow one amp? Two 3000Ds are going to burp higher than one of these 4kw's with a similar price point, correct?

I think you'd be better off going with the 7000 watt model. Like you said, for the cost of this 4000 watt model, they could simply double up on 3000D's and have more power available. I think the 3000D is holding its own in that wattage range. If you offered something to compete with the Stetsom 7KD or Cactus Sounds 7Kw, I think you'd be much better off. the problem with that is that very few people buy amps of that size and I get the feeling that Jacob wants to enter into the market that is dominated by the likes of Zapco and Arc Audio If you look around, there are quite a few people that have bought 4x 1500D's or 4x 3000D's, they could replace those four amps with either 1 or 2 of the 7Kws and maintain efficiency and space. The market is there, however the product is not. A lot of people won't touch Stetsom for daily because they have been known to be burp-only amps. how many average customers buy 7kw amps? not very many Jacob is focusing on his core business the guys that walk into the shop and have X ammount of cash to spend and they want a quality piece such as Zapco and just cant afford it I understand that, but with the 3000D already in place I don't see a need for a 4000 watt amp. For daily, I don't see a whole lot of people looking for 4000 watts. For competitions, they could use two 3000D's for the same price and have more power, both for burps and continuous (bassrace), than the 4000 watt offers. I think a 5000 or 7000 watt amp would be the better move.

  22. The subs themselves aren't that bad...but the customer service is enough to keep me from ever buying one.

    upgrade from original plan?

Youtube = bad place for subwoofer information. Just something for you to sit on...the world record was set and is still currently being held with one 18" subwoofer.
  24. Big E

    hella cool, to me anyway.

You're looking at a few more batteries and a High Output Alternator. Those alone will bring you right around $800 for two good deep cycles and a HO alt.

    Gas Prices, again...

Just FYI, we get most of our oil from Canada, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia... Iraq is 7th on the list of countries we import from... http://www.energyrefuge.com/archives/where..._comes_from.htm http://abcnews.go.com/International/popup?id=1566549 This war shouldn't have affected prices that much. It's as ANeonRider said, there's more demand for the oil around the world than there used to be in the last 5-10 years. Oh, and bose301s, they dropped back to $4 in Grand Haven? I'm in Hudsonville and they're still at $4.20...might be worth making a trip out there with a few gas canisters...
