thank you for the advice! the only problem is that there isnt anyone around here, besides shops, that have term labs. so what i might do is slip a shop some money to practice on it once in a while. its very addicting to say the least. im already hooked.
-
thanks scott. well, im going to call some local places that have term labs to see if theyll let me have some time on theirs. i know that i can easily hang in the 130-139.9 class, its just i need more experience. i might hit shawn up to get some tips from him. thanks again scott. -carmen

yep, i live in hudson, youre prob close. there are some comps coming up in brook park that ill be going to in june, july, and august depending on my work schedule.
-
thank you, too bad i didnt bring home the win. being that it was my first time ever doing bass race i think i did well. it was the splmax show at advance mobile toys in cuyahoga falls, ohio.
-
i entered my first ever bass race comp with my new system. loaded 15" BTL on an MA Audio hk4000d in a 4 cubes box tuned to 34hz playing "air forces". i qualified with a 139.8 in the 130-139.9 class. i went over the 140 mark and hit 141 for a bit, but had to drop it down to avoid getting put in the 140 class. however, i got eliminated in the first round by someone with a lot more experience, i only lost by .2 db's because i was at 139.9 with a few seconds left and had to drop it down fast so not to break over the 140 mark and risk getting DQ'd. i ended with a 139.6. sad thing is that i had the guy beat the entire time until the last few seconds. there is another comp coming up in june, another in july, and a last in august that im going to enter.

my 15" BTL sounds amazing, great SQ

freaking insane vid steve. keep it up man, youre my inspiration.

i was thinking of picking up two of those. here are two vids that i took the other day, they didnt come out that great, but whatever:

right now i have a loaded 15" BTL (dual 2) and am going to be getting a second one soon. as of now i have a ma audio hk4000d on the BTL. im looking to get either one or two amps to use for the BTLs. im looking for something that will give me around 3500-4000 watts per sub, but not cost an arm and a leg. what do you guys suggest?
-
nice choice, thanks for the reply. i was considering upgrading to those, just not sure i have the room.
-
offtopic: chad, what do you have running those 2 BTLs? im planning on getting a second and either adding another amp or upgrading to 2 new ones.
-
i found the same to be true with my loaded 15 BTL. i have it in a 4 cube box after displacement tuned to ~34hz and it sounds great with some john mayer, robin thicke, al greene, kenny g, etc. i expected it to just get loud, but i was pleasantly surprised.

adding a second sub, but have a question

id hope, especially for all the electrical upgrades required on top of what i already did lol. for now i might just add a second BTL then go from there, that way i wont have to do any immediate electrical upgrades. -

right now i have a single 15 BTL, loaded, running off of a ma audio hk4000d. im thinking of getting a second sub and amp. i recall reading on here some kind of "formula" for the dB gain by doubling the woofer area and doubling the power, but i cant recall what the numbers were. theoretically, how many dB's can i gain by adding a second 15 and second hk4000d?
