    1 Q 18" review!!!

First off, I could NOT be happier. Alot of bang for the buck, and that's what I needed from this sub. It sounds excelent, especially for being in a box thats 11.6 cubes. I set the amp to send the sub the full 1000 watts when the bass boost is all the way up. When I listen to music, I have the boost all the way down cause its still loud, but sounds perfectly in tune with the mids and highs. Whenever I get bored is when I crank it up, but personally my ears dont like the pressure all too much. This enclosure was intended for music with the tuning at 28-30 hz, and I never planned on competing, although I went to a db drag on the 15th. I entered and qualified with a 138, quite the ugly score, but I was using the db jam cd that you can borrow from the judges. I played some stupid track I was told to, it didn't work out well. So first round comes along, I hit 145.2 with jeezy on my own cd because I knew it would play properly. The track was hypnotize, and it hit 145.2 at 39 hz. I am thrilled with that for my first try! I can add more once I shrink the volume of the box a bit, I could also comment on the higher tuning before I lengthen the port. NUMBERS: -145.2 db with music on the TL -1000 watts rms (lanzar opti1400D) -11.6 cube box -tuned to 28-30hz -125 square inches of port (flared out to almost 200) -18" of Fi "Q"uality Pics today after school

Fi Q 18" review!! ITS HOTTT

ok well each of the walls of the box is 1 and 3/4 inches thick. the top is about 3 layers of 3/4 inch. the front is 2 layers of 3/4 inch and fiberglass reinforced. and as for the jerk who commented on my quality work, my car is gonzo in a month or 2 cause im goin to university, plus stereos are made to be listened to.

    1 Q 18" review!!!

ok so photos are in order from the begining of the build to the final product, with some sub shots at the end!! mounts for dancefloor dancefloor sides of the box I like to call this the "frame method" to building walls compared to a 12" type-R again with the R, in the cutout for the Q18 Test fitting for the next couple pics (I'm poor, I didnt have saw horses at this point) All framed in nice and neat Q in the wall for the first time! (looks off center but my seats are just adjusted differently) And so fiberglassing begins After a long time came bondo and paint (although I got lazy with the bondo, it still looks sweet as heck) Now for sexy subwoofer poses!

  13. Hey, well over the past couple days ive been smoothing out the wall that ive had for about 3-4 months. i couldnt do anything before because it was -15 degree C all the time. the last few days have been +2 to 4 degrees, warm enough for a tshirt. but today its about -2. If i kept goin today, itd be done and painted, but is it too cold for bondo to cure? or will it just take longer to cure? thanks

Vid of my Q 15' & update with lots of PICS

I couldnt get the vid to work man but i kinda had the same problem in my grand prix. Since its the last box ever goin into my car, i screwed the dancefloor to the floorpan where my back seat used to be and then screwed my box to the dancefloor. I wouldnt suggest that since its your first install and your going to want to upgrade later on (4 Q15s in a wall in you truck?). try velcro on the bottoms of the feet of your box to prevent sliding, and then maybe some brackets that extend from the box to the floormounts of the seats that would prevent it from moving up and down. looks sweet man, not alot of people start out with quality products like you have

    Just purchased a 12" BL

for the larger bend, i thought of a sweet method take 2 pieces of 3/4 mdf and make a 90 degree angle, then on the interior angle, fiberglass the curve so the inside will be perfectly smooth, then once its good and stiff, angle grind away the excess wood that is above the fiberglass curve thatd be how id do it
