need some creative ideas here for my room

i think with option 2 if im reading it right, you have 2 feet beside the couch? perfect place to build a tower (port at bottom, subs facing the same way as couch) with some quick math, i figured if the box was 24" x 16" x 5 feet you could do a decent box and you could go even bigger like 6 feet tall so you could make really low tunned port. then you could make a desk and not have to worry about your hard drive being ripped apart. im interested in a 2.1 system for september when i move into residence. what kind of receiver, amp, speakers are you using?

need some creative ideas here for my room

ive been thinking of a setup for my dorm so this topic caught my eye, i was going to do 2 18" Mjs also but sealed so i could fit them under my bed in a 6 cube box. you could have the subs face out where a standard desk would have drawers, and then have a single port, 20" wide by 7" high so you could fit feet and itd be nice and breezy haha. generally i dont even go under my desk because my sub and computer are in the way (i rest my feet on the sub sometimes, 2 cubes only) but i could deffinitely fit 22.5 cubes total in the space of this desk. so you could easily fit 9 cubes

  7. hey, im going to be buying a VW rabbit in a couple months cause i got accepted to my #1 choice university!!!! i got a scholarship so now i have about 10 grand saved up plus i'll take out a student loan and im gettin paid to go to school (1600 bucks a month). I currently have a Fi Q18 tuned to 28-30 hz, and i hit 145.2 on my first try with some music. Im looking for some help on deciding what the best setup would be for a hatchback. Im thinking 2 12" BTLs with about 5000 watts. im really excited to get this project goin. my goal is to break the 150 mark but music is what the stereo will play, no farting. any help is appreciated!!!! thanks
  8. haha im seeing 170's!! but putting in 8 18" BTLS sideways is goin to be a feat in itself. Steve, all your work has inspired me greatly, you are my actual hero and good luck mayne! we all got to look out for your son cause hes gunna be killin competitions, and the next step to get even louder would have to be a nuclear warhead ported in the cargo area haha

Fi Bl or BTL with RF T20001BD

if your into all types of music, you will want to build a box accordingly. the subs can play whatever you listen to, but the box is what determines how it sounds.

    Amp to much?

id set the wattage to about 1500 watts rms with the bass knob on full and the headunit up as loud as it goes clearly. that way you can drive around with the bass knob down and when you crank it up, you know your only sending a max of 1500 watts to the sub. i think the formula is: voltage=square root of (watts x ohms). use a digital multimeter to set your gains and you wont have problems. somebody will come by and correct my formula if its wrong

Fi Bl or BTL with RF T20001BD

id also reccomend a fully loaded 15" BTL, just look at dopeys pic beside his post, its a beautiful driver. plus the 20001BD will put out much more than 2000 watts. the bl isnt rated for that amount of power. Welcome to the forum man

    The Fi Dust Cap?

Like it says up there, Ive always like the RE SX type dust cap/cone because it so seamless and seckserific. Just wondering if Fi plans on doing that and how many other people on here would like that option?

New to Fi and Got some questions!

as most people say, its in the install my Q18 sounds better than my old Kicker CVX 15 and my friends 12 type R sounds better than the CVX, both are generally good sounding subs. the Q is on a whole different level. and those are different installs, different tastes. theres no real way of telling you whats best because there are so many variables. I think because you seem fairly new to this, you may want to stick with 10"s, 12"s or 15"s because of the flexibility of the installs. if you got a big truck, throw some 18"s in that bish! haha just remember if it doesnt sound right, its most likely the enclosure
