looks like cathay(peanut) birch to me...

hmm, interesting, so more or less exactly the same as what i would be running sub wise. How does it sound? i would imagine it gets pretty loud:p but how is it for movies and whatnot? only other subs ive run in a HT application are computer speakers, like the logitech z680s(10" sub) and my current edifier 5.1s (8" sub w/ 90watt amp), which i will be hooking the maw up to until i get a proper receiver and towers and whatnot.

yea, box will be more like 2.5ft stuffed. i just want to make sure the bass is really tight and punchy...so how much does the bash300 put out at 8ohm? im assuming its not 2ohm stable
-
im wanting to use one of my maw-15s in a ht application. I figured that the bash-300 off mach5's website would power it quite well and be very nice in a 2cuft stuffed box. however there is no way for me to run the maw at 4ohms is there? its only 2 and 8 with dvc?

you just get it at your local plywood store...they come in big bags...its just pink or yellow insulation...nothing exciting

lol, i should make this a worklog.... but the rattling was bugging me, so i set about to eliminate it from the trunk...heres what i did ok, so first i took off the plastic on the top of the hatch, allowing me to get at the screws holding the spoiler down...its funny because i thought the hydraulic arms on the trunk were shot cuz the hatch wouldnt stay up...but when i took the spoiler off it stayed up on its own, as you can see then i took off the spoiler... and a bit of dirt under where it was, but not too much, and no rust, just like the rest of the car and now that its all off i set about to clean all the crap up soapy water and a soft brush action shot, all that dusty crap is just pollen a nice soft cloth to dry it all better so after that i used some weatherstripping tape on all the spots where the spoiler touches the trunk...i was so into it i forgot to take pictures... haha. spoiler slid on and screwed in nice and snug. After that i figured i might as well try to deaden the hatch abit more, so i stuffed all the exposed metal with household insulation, just as i did yesterday with the subbox, which i guess i should have mentioned before, . Then i put the plastic back in and tested it all out. It sounds significantly better, much less rattling and more bass from the hatch...however now i can hear all the other ratting that i couldn't even hear before, so ill have to go about eliminating all those. But i definitely recommend this little project to anyone with a rattly hatched car...only expense was like 2 bucks for the weatherstripping, i just took the insulation from what we had leftover from building our house. oh, the music wasnt actually distorting inside the car, thats just the mic on the cam cuz it was so freaking loud...didnt have it up all the way in this video as when i do the speakers distort (really need to get them amped to keep up with the subs) so the subs actually weren't going at full excursion or anything, but i think it still shows the difference in the rattling from the last clip http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y5/meista...=Movie_0001.flv

fwd turbo....almost as cool
-
haha...i just grabbed my dogs little stuffed animal, it was the only one i could find....however i really need to get the trunk fixed, it rattles so bad its nasty...its mostly the spoiler i think, but i dont know how to fix it
-
ok, heres a better video of the subs at full excursion, they are only gettin about 4-500 watts cuz the gains are set pretty conservatively and the amps only on an 80amp fuse...but damn they are loud http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y5/meista...talonbumpin.flv

lol, its okay jeremiah...it took me forever to get my current system...i was so critical of every driver i considered...then i just bit the bullet and did something completely out of character, i went with a company noone had heard of, and now i have a loudass car that never ceases to impress if i was you, id just get the mj18, put it in the biggest sealed box you can fit in your trunk, the box will cost you all of 20 bucks...if you dont like it, build a new one and port and stuff it. Either way its gonna be way louder than what you've got now
-
i dunno if you can make your hair move with only 500 watts...but maybe....you're probably gonna need a system with at least 1k watts to be able to actually see your hair moving...that being said the mj18 will be a helluva lot louder than what you have right now and will sound very nice in a sealed box... i agree with viperoni though, 2 15s would be better in this application, and you would definitely feel your hair moving and people would hear you from a ways away
-
yeah, subs were not going at full excursion, like i said it was a bad vid, i was still tweaking stuff when my buddy was filming....when they are cranked you cant really hear the music at all when the subs are hitting, lol
-
got a buddy to take a couple vids...they are kinda short and crappy...but o well this is with the gains set very conservatively...subs are probably only getting about 4-500 watts each
-
ahh, i dunno if i can get a vid for a few days yet...im in kind of a quiet neighborhood and theres kids on either side out in their driveways playing...id probably piss off alot of people if i cranked the system up...just know its very loud, lol...ive never actually had the subs going at full excursion yet, but you can see the hatch bouncing and the windshield wiper rattling right off the glass

suprisingly, it was very musical. i threw lots of stuff at it, rap(big suprise) some metal, rock, pop...it obviously gets hella loud with rap music...but it was amazing listening to songs like x-amount of words by blue october or down with the sickness by disturbed...heck it even kept up with stuff by in flames, which has very fast and detailed drums...it defined the drum beats very well without making them sound overexaggerated or boomy, i love it
