SA12s were ported, and Ill use all the space in the back, not too sure of the dimensions back there though... And I would like to gain output:D
-
I got a new 2012 ford escape and I want to put my sa12s in it. Factory premium door speakers sound great, I just need my subs for the bass. How should I go about getting the turn on and input wired up? It's a new car so I'm afraid to do anything...

okay, now to decide one or two of my SA12s...

Would taking the line converter to one of the rear speakers make that one get less power?
-
Where should I connect the line converter though?

I've made a few threads and I can't get a straight answer. WHICH ONE SA 12s 350 shipped VVS 12s 320 shipped LI 12s 370 shipped What im hearing is they're all equal. Im thinking the vvx since they're the cheapest. The amp will be a sundwowm 1200d. Im looking for heavy lows that shake the whole car. Sq doesn't really matter to me. More of an spl sound. Straight answers please! Thank you!

When's the preorder?

Hmm there are slight gaps on the dust cap, and it could be described as a "tick", I'll try and get a video up shortly... Distorts my cameras mic too much to pick the tick/pop up. Any more ideas on a fix?

I have two SA12s on a memphis amp giving 1500 watts, Subs are dual 2 ohms and their wired to 2 ohms at the amp. During low notes I hear a pop from the woofers, only one woofer, never two pops. Just one pop every second or so during low bass. Pulled the subs out and nothing looks wrong. Felt the cone after some long play time and it's cold so it's not thermal. No distortion at all either. So is the sub bottoming out?

You need a SSF, otherwise the drivers will play below enclosure tuning and likely bottom out. Hlab makes inline crossover filters called fmod, 20hz hpf is black(red label) and 30hz hpf (red label) is double black. http://www.hlabs.com/colors/ 20hz still leaves a fair amount of room for problem, 30hz will reduce some of the bottom end output. Or get a simple sound processor / crossover. Notes under 20hz make my car shake though, I don't want to get rid of them! They won't necessarily be gone, but they will be attenuated. If your that adamant about it, build a new box that's tuned lower, and of course there are drawbacks to this. Or leave it as is, and if your speakers stop working, don't complain. Should I get the 20hz to match hearing, or 30hz to match my tuning?

Well with the description provided I can't say anything for certain as to what exactly your problem is or how it occurred, but I can promise you that without a SSF those drivers will not last as long as they should. True^ But their not hitting below 20hz when they bottom out, at least I think so. I have no way of checking the frequency to see what they bottom out at.

But this just happened all the sudden,(probably should of added that). Just bumping out of school one day and I hear a pop come from my subs, I turned it down right away and drove home in silence until I could look at them. And now they just do it every day.

Four cubes at 30 Hz. No SSF on this amp, it's oldschool LPF at ~80 bass boost at 0. Idk how to describe the pop, give me some descriptive words to choose from? haha Happens all the time on Late night tip, sometimes on How Low, and on a few basstronic songs.(not sure of their name) I think that answers all your questions.

Another amp gain setting topic...
djtomczak posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have an old school Memphis amp putting 1500 at two ohms into two SA12s. Bass boost on the amp is 40hz, I have the bass boost up a quarter. Amp gain is at half right now but, BUT. I have a feeling it's not all the way up. I usually set my gains by playing Put On by Jeezy since it has a few different levels of bass and I can set it so it doesnt clip on any of those. I don't feel like im doing this right, so I need pointed in the right direction. I get a 40hz tone and put the bass boost to what? I just need help... -
Another amp gain setting topic...

I know but I don't know what frequency to set the gain to, I have knowledge of what gain does and electronics:p -

Need help finding a mid or subwoofer for this box...
djtomczak posted a topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
My dad has an old Jensen box that had an 8 inch woofer and a 2 inch tweeter in it, it sounds great but the woofers surrounds are worn away now. I need to replace the woofer in it but I'm having trouble finding one to go with the tweeter, fit in the box, and match the rms of the amp. The tweeter is 8 ohm, the box has about 4.25 inches of space, and his amp puts out 75 rms at 2 ohms and 50 rms at 4 ohms. He needs this for rear fill and to add some bass. This is for his work van so I need to use these enclosures as they just fit behind the seats. If it helps the original box handling was 75 rms at 4 ohms. -
Subwoofers work by moving air with the cone creating waves that move around in the box and create bass. But what really makes one subwoofer better than the other? Two different twelves for example. One low end one high end. Both have same cone area, both hit the same frequencies(lets assume). From my understanding all that really makes one better than the other is how much excursion it has. But that really can't be all can it? Sorry if this is a dumb question... I haven't been able to sleep lately:p

What really seperates one subwoofer from another?
