Your hookup is what you make it. There's an intrinsic value to your hookup, electrical, wiring..exc..just because you're louder doesn't make your hookup better..most everyone on these forums asking for help are daily drivers with hookups that work for them I wouuld say. Sharing your opinion and knowledge would be appreciated not your emotional break down..

When it comes down to high end Fi speakers..take their tech info and apply it as much as you can..when it comes down to it..its all about your amp, how much power it can supply efficiently, and your enclosure. Listen to Fi and their tech info, cannot stress it anymore...things will turn out louder than a pair of type Rs starting at their ssd series. You can make 8s sound like a pair of 12s if your passion is to work on your hookup

My buddy has a pair of type R 10s in the backseat of a dodge ram running about 650 watts each on a hifonics brutus. Nice battery supporting his electrical..sounds good the subs move..a lot. He just got a new job and bought a BL after his 2nd drink of the weekend since I was talking up Fi products. He will run that same 2 ohm load to a D1 BL and in the right enclosure I believe it will make incredible sound. I have an old Fi Q just coned it with a dual 2 on a mmats d300hc running about 700 watts to it in a sealed enclosure @ 4 ohm and it just what I need.. solid sound..not much current draw..love my amp..love Fi products....way to go guys.

I would reccomend setting the gain when its all wired up to the box; if you are sitting there and turning the gain up on free air application you might have screwed something up. You should only free air a sub to see it works. You won't get an accurate idea of where your gains need to be when it is not in its enclosure and not loosened up. If you're within reason of power from your amp giving a healthy relationship to your sub then, your gains should start lower than half. You will notice it loosenening up after about 2-3 hrs of play time.

what's your electrical like? And what impedance can you run? What kind of car is going to take the beat down?

That would be cool if you could do that bc most of the vids were of the actual cleaning and gluing process but not soldering.

What's the best way to solder the tinsel leads onto the terminals with these new recones that have the leads coming out of the spiders. There are 4 lead wires for each positive and each negative. I think its obvious I won't be able to fit them through the ring on the terminal, so how should they be soldered? Should some slack be left?

Well I received my recone today and its the right model, but wrong impedance. I asked for a dual 1 and you shipped me a dual 2 Q 15. I posted on the forum as soon as I received my tracking # as it looked like the wrong ref. # because it said D2. I don't know what else I could have done to try to prevent this from happening. This is really rediculous that you guys can't get this right. Simple logistics starting from your ordering to your picking/shipping can't be done correctly. I will post a picture of the recone, but its obvious in the description you did it wrong from the start. I had my car wired and just made a new box and can't even get going with the recone process yet...I have a competition on the 22nd of oct. And wanted to get tuning on this set up asap...

my cousin has two tc9 12" subs that are blown. We were wondering if we could order baskets for 15" SSD recones to fit on the magnets. As far as the mounting screws go, they should about all be the same mounting area, correct? Do you think this would work, right recone?

Very well said, this is what makes you guys different than all your competitors. I totally understand the complications with the qualifications needed for someone to answer questions over phone. What I posted I said with intent merely for you to take in as an opinion of a customer halfway across the country. The email thing works out, and now I know why you guys do it. Small tweaks to your customer service approach could make Fi the best out there. Your product may sell itself, but ensuring to customers by voice that their issues are the most important thing to your operation will establish your reputaation; If your goal is to expand your business and reputation, centered around your production to order process, you can't lose. Relax. You ordered SSD recones...Scott had talked to you/you had talked to Scott, and got it changed...the guys in the shipping department did not pay attention to the change. Relax man. We will get you taken care of. It's our mistake...so you will have a re-cone kit that you can sell the other kit to somebody else who needs one for an SSD. The Q recone will go out on Monday at no charge, because it was our mistake, so sell the other one to somebody else or keep it. Thanks for taking care of it. I look forward to dealing with fi. And their products in the future.

Fi customer service is horrible, needs big time improvement, especially because you deal with such expensive equipment.

I have been sent the wrong recone, I needed a Q and was sent SSD. Already emailed orders, and sales but I might need to talk to someone via phone, or email other than fi customer service reps @ [email protected] or [email protected]. Sigh....

How is he being a dick when he's a paying customer who hasn't received his product as of yet nor has received notice of the delay. You might have the best product in the market but without the customer service its just as good or worse than the competitors.

they both have a 3 inch diameter 4 layer coil Thanks for the clarification. What I meant is its the length of the coiled section that is shorter on the ssd than the Q. hence, l the wrong recone, unless I could use it because I dont want to wait another 3 weeks =[
