So I'll be running my SSA Zcon 12" on 3k for now until I get around to purchasing a recone for an sp4 motor I got in a trade. My problem is..I have a trunk car and limitations on box sizes. Depth and height are a problem for me. I have come to the conclusion that the biggest I can fit is an L port enclosure about 3.9-4 cubes. If I give it about 4 inches of port and still have net, will this enclosure server well to the sp4? I'll be running 3k @ the sp4. If not recommend what you all have experimented with.

how big was your sealed?

If you're going to run sleeper, just run amps that people don't normally have. Thieves normally steal your stuff after they hear how loud you were rockin down the road.

Design questions for 15" or 18" SSA Xcon
cloud77 replied to Omega_Ace's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
If you strictly want to run sealed, look into an Fi Q series. They sound hella sexy in sealed and have a high QTS option which makes the coil gap larger to take away from the motor force, thus better sound quality in a sealed application -
I was 2 beers away from buying a SHKAMP 2500D on ebay for 99$ this weekend.. Let us know what it sound like! Keep us posted!

coil gap is universal

Quality amps, quality service. -
I might have to get one of those amps, for the price, why not. I saw you chime in on ****.

Its a Dual 1? Consider running @ .5 with a MMATS amp. d2000.05 would be suitable or d300hc to run @ 2 ohm. or d100hc to run at .5 -

Are Planet Audio Amps good
cloud77 replied to FiAudioSubwoofersjj's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If you are looking to power a true 1500 rms look into MMATS, Audioque, sundown, incriminator, DD, exc. Everything in the SSA store is NOT garbage. Theres a fine line between a SAZ1500.1d and a hifonics brutus 1500bx or whatever you want to compare to. I personally will run MMATS amps for the rest of my times on this earth, because they create overwhelming results for the small footprint they create. Look into older MMATS dhc amps. If you can find one in good condition its a flawless choice for powering 1-2k subs -
acquiring knowledge requires a bit of work. Read up on stuff. experiment. then ask others on how your experience could have been better

cloud77 replied to FiAudioSubwoofersjj's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm sure you can find a better way to power that woofer, even if you wanted to add another in the future. Planet Audio sucks IMO -
I hope so. Recones too

I have a great deal on a used DD 9515 : what do you think ?
cloud77 replied to Notorious97200's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
shipping goes both ways, I am needing to sell my 15" zcon or trade for a 12" . I have no space for a 15" anymore because boxes are getting bigger =[ -

would you trade the n2? -
the screw driver and hammer is just to get things off. you will still have to dremel/sand down things clean. That should be good.
-
looks a little over done, you shouldn't grind down the metal so much, but should be okay. Just make sure the coil gap is clean with compressed air and duck tape folded to probe.
-
you're not going to get any results from a dmm unless you clamp amperage compared to other channels. If its blown. You'll know by experimentation.

I've had some sick door flexes with single sub setups so far.
-
Not at first, you really have to train your ear. The extra vibrations on my door panels and front window were the kicker.

db-r I think is the only good one. But there are others. Be careful and read reviews of places before you use them. I have an '04 GT and I love it as well. I just used GT liquid-damp on the whole trunk and spray painted it gun metal gray to match the car. The liquid sound dampener really conforms with that trunk well. Plus I hate using mats and asphalt based deadeners. I had a 16" tall box that I recently had to destroy inside the trunk because it swelled from the humidity.

of course hes going to say that. you already made the deal right? If its not putting out sound at all, or its distorting/cutting out its probably bad. You should have bought the zcon for sure because the motor weight is worth 200 alone.
