15 BL is going to break my car soon.....

thats awesome. looks like the roof is gonna fly off. what are your box specs?

    screws

I got some of these : http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=081-425 only 1" but they work great. As long as the screws are deep/coarse thread and at least 1" (for 3/4 mdf) you'll be fine.

    box build finished...

very nice. that tall box makes the 15 look like a 10 or something lol. What care is it going in? It should pound..

a subsonic filter is basically a crossover that you set at or around the tuning frequency of your ported box so your sub won't play below that frequency. The reason for this is because in a ported application it is harmful to the sub if it plays below the tuning frequency of the box. In a sealed application there is no need for a subsonic filter.

    Do BL's get low?

So after selling my Avalanche, i put my 2 13kv.2's back in my car. This is when i realize how amazingly low the avalanche gets. I am almost set on purchasing a 15" BL to replace the avalanche, but i just want to be sure that i will not be dissapointed with the low frequencies. I know it will get loud, but hell my 13kv's matched my avalanche at certain frequencies too. (BL will be on 1200 watts in 3.5 @30hz if it matters much) Anyone with experience with an avalanche as well as a BL (or other Fi sub, i assume they are a bit similar) please give me some input. I want to be absolutely positive that the BL will be $300 well spent. thanks.

    Do BL's get low?

yeah, i totally understand that the box has something to do with it. but some subs definetely produce lows alot more profoundly than others. i just don't want to be stuck with a sub that bangs only in the 50 hz range. Seems like the BL is a solid sub though, i can't wait to place my order.

    15" BL vs. Q

I hate to bring up a vs. thread, but this one seems reasonable. If you read my thread in the subwoofer section, you know my deal. Basically i want to upgrade from an avalanche and I think i have decided on either the Fi Q or BL. Both will be receiving 1200 watts and be put in a 3.5 @ 30hz enclosure. From my other thread, i learned that the Q will probably work better in my box, but the BL will be louder in the end. I will probably build a new box come summer time better suited to whichever sub i get and to my car (hatchback=sub up). Both subs are the same price...i won't be putting options on either...so i am pretty torn. I have researched and found people to say the Q does not get that loud...actually that the SSD can get louder than it. I listen to more rap than rock these days, but if i get the BL i still want it to sound decent with rock. I will probably tune the new box no higher than like 33hz. So what do you guys think? Sorry for the long thread, but i would really like to place the order soon.

    15" BL vs. Q

Definetely not looking for an SQ champ. maybe 60/40 SPL/SQ mix AT BEST. I figured it wasn't going to sound like a fart cannon or anything but i wanted to make sure. Last few questions, is 1200 watts a good amount of power, and what is an ideal box size/tuning that i should be looking into making during the summer to put the sub in. Also, while i made the thread, might as well get a few more opinions...like do you guys think the extra output is worth the sacrifice in SQ? and i hear the Q has a very flat overall response. Is the BL like that or is just one of those low-end monsters. Anything else you would like to chime in about please do so. thanks!

    Price on 2 12" SSD's

https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/...view.shopscript 12's are $189...but that's the link to the SSD's on their site. they go 10's up to 18's.

    Thank you FI

Wow that's insane. what setup you got there?
  11. thats pretty sweet. what box size/tuning you got there? can't wait to see the vids.
  12. Well, would the BL sound like complete crap in that box? I really don't want to tune too much higher than like 32, but i still want output. Maybe i am just looking for too much from a single sub setup =). I wrote an e-mail to Fi asking them the same question...i guess i'll wait and see what they say. And I do still like the Mag, but it looks like the only one in my price range would be used, and they don't seem to get put up for sale that often (especially the 15).
  13. Hey everyone. I came across this forum through caraudio.com and thought i would try to get some help here. Just like the title says...I have an AA Avalanche in that box right now with 1000 watts and it's just not loud enough. My budget is about 300 (cheaper the better). I have an eD nine.1 to power so i can give it 1200 clean watts at 1 ohm, and i would like to use the same box. I know it is tuned more for SQ but it is still a decent size. I was looking at the Fi BL, SI Mag, and TC-3000 (although that one cannot be wired to 1 ohm). The BL and Mag are really intriguing me after doing some research... (Also, where can i get Mags and how much? I can't seem to find that info on the site) Basically, i just want another sub that i can drop into that box, give it 1200 watts, and bump it way louder than the avalanche. I can build another box maybe by the summer if it will help a bit, but right now I am going to use my current one. Thanks!
  14. Well, since the Fi site doesn't have specific box rec's for each sub, just a fairly large range of sizes and tuning freq's, i didn't really know what was ideal. I would actually love to build a smaller box in the future, how high of a tuning would the BL need...like 35? also, I have a strange feeling the Q won't be much louder than my avalanche, but i could be wrong. (and i didn't realize they were the same price) Also, about the Mag...those things look pretty sick. And the box specs on their site is exactly what i have. How much exactly do they go for new, and where do i get one? I could always look for a used one or spend a bit more if it's worth it. The site also does not talk about it's power handling...so i don't know if 1200 is enough. Thanks for the quick replies so far...can't wait to hear some more.
