I run 18s in ported enclosures in my living room currently to provide more low end for my Definitive Technology BP2000TLs. I also run 6 Aura Bass Shaker Pros in the furniture. I was considering 4 Fi IB3s in the attic ran with a Behringer EP-4000. The wife gets pissed when we use my car and we end up piling groceries on the kids. I figure groceries will only make a slight difference in the sound while driving home and I can live with that. I just want to have a somewhat functional trunk and a spare tire in the car again. I am hoping infinite baffle is the way for me to go. The Aura Pro Bass Shakers will give me the feel I want without deafening the kids. I figure if I want more I can add a Rockford Fosgate I-beam into the console to give me more bass to feel and keep a clean sq car with extension. I'd just like to find someone with IB3s installed in a sedan and a recommendation for power and whether or not to use a 2nd 15 in a car trunk that size.

And if you are worried about leaks, use kitty hair fiberglass on all the interior seams. It is what I use on enclosures in my own vehicle.

I know you would prefer to build yourself, but you could always go with Fatbox and have them build the box to your dimensions. They sell on ebay and the enclosures are tuned for your specific speaker and have 1.5" face on em. I am an MECP installer and I have cut corners before to make a box fit, but if you don't want to take the chance and want your box properly tuned and fit to the vehicle it is an option.

I have plenty of fiberglass to wrap the deck and make a nice face for the sub mount plate. I plan to glue two sheets of 3/4 MDF for heavy solid baffle

I would go with the Image Dynamics, but I am biased. I have ran horn loaded compression drivers since 1997. My original build was all Image Dynamic Speakers (CD1s, 6.5s, and IDQ15s). I still run my same horns in my car to this day. The Cd1s and 6.5s had been driven with a PPI AX404 originally and are now driven by a Zapco AG650 (front stage amp). I have always ran the horn and mids with separate amp channels and used a crossover and 30 band EQ. -
My 96 Saturn SL2 has no trunk so I was going to move to infinite baffle to gain trunk space. I currently run a Zapco Ag650 pushing Image Dynamic HLCDs, 6.5s, and a pair of Aura Bass shaker Pros under the seats. My subs are currently Orion HCCA 12D4s driven by a Mark Antony MK2500D and according to my amperage draw and ohms law it tops out around 1600 watts. I may be reducing equipment to cut down on the room taken up. My wife has children and we are expecting twins. I have an Audiocontrol Epic-160 in the dash to dial down the bass on the subs. I am hoping the bass shakers give me the bump I want to feel without being to much for the family. I am considering either using a pair of the IB3 15s with 2 ohm coils for a one ohm load and near the same wattage as current. I am wondering what these speakers want to be fed in an infinite baffle for sound quality and some bump. I may also go with a single IB3 15 with a 2 ohm coil or possibly a pair of 4 ohm for a 2 ohm load on the amp. I am curious about other peoples setups in sedans (hopefully) and the wattage ran. My car has a 30 band EQ, 20 farad Capacitor, and Kinetic HC1800 battery. With the kids this will be the last rendition or build I can probably afford and I will be selling off some of my car audio collection. I would just appreciate some advice so that I am happy with my build and don't want to revamp later. My wife would kill me and I just want to put all my effort into one final sound quality build. I tried to provide as much info as I could to get advice before I make a purchase or sell anything.
