Which one should i get? (crossovers)
almond replied to flakko's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
if you're looking for a badpass type deal i would suggest the audiocontrol 2xs. just buy a chip from audiocontrol to split the signal where you want it. current;y i use one with a 3.3khz chip. they're decently inexpensive as well. -

one thing that i hate in the kitchen i work at is "why should i make the bottom look nice when we're just going to cover it up" it's a pride thing. just becauswe it isn't going to be seen doesn't mean it shouldn't look nice. just seems like a lack of pride or a half assed job to me.

i think the hi xmaxcoil needed the third magnet to work porperly. if you only have a two slug motor, i don't think it will work, though if it's fully loaded it should ahve the hi xmax coil, or at least i would think. how many slugs does the motor have?

looks like the twins will now be paternal triplets

Why should I get a more expensive amp over another amp?
almond replied to king alpha's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
you also need to realize there is a difference between expensive and quality. sure amp can can be more expensive than amp b=, but that doesn't always mean amp a is better than amp b. you just need to take a look around and ask questions. some amps have highe quality than others, but are in the same price range. do you mind buying used? -

for the sub look at the eclipse sw8000. it's realtively inexpensive, has great linear response, huge amounts of excursion and can handle a great deal of power at 4 ohms. downside. it nees a large box. sealed i think was good around 2 cubes and around 3.5 ported.

question about safety of running a SAZ1500 at .5 ohm
almond replied to eclipsepb25's topic in Sundown Audio
from what i understand the amps back then and the amps now are compltely different. liek the new orion hcca series that are now over rated at 14.4 but even four years ago were underrated at 12.5. try searching on the termpro forums for the earthquakes amps. i think i remember seeing that they had to be burped at like .5 ohms to get near the rated power. but don't take my word for it go take a look around and search. don't just rely on one forum for the info just remember to use the search button. -
is that similar to micro biology?? i loved that class lol. except the lecture was held in a huge hall with a ton of students.

i have to say if you tight on space the d300hc is so small. i can't believe so much power comes form it. it's like a half or close to t third the size of my na6000d
