Gun nuts. I was thinking of getting an AR-15 accessory for my dad for Christmas, any ideas?

It was in the high 50s yesterday, which allowed me to go bonkers in the garage.

Why are you not sold on SSD? Is it because of Sean's bad luck? In theory the 8GB should be plenty for a OS and a couple programs, but I can say I have no idea of the Read/Write speeds of the hybrid SSD. In terms of a HDD a 5400rpm is a bit slow, but pleyny usable. PS - Just checked my HDD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148371) which ironically cost more for something that is half the drive (at best) as what you proposed and has worked just fine for me. Not just Sean's bad luck. I know of numerous premature failures. When you consider the ratio of SSDs to traditional platter HDDs out there, the percentage of failures is tremendous comparatively. I have far too much info on my drives that are terribly important to me to take that chance. Unfortunately the failed drive had a ton of info I cannot recover. Some of the information were case study information, captures, videos, and PP presentations that have cost me a lot of income... not only that, but the information lost are references I saved that I may never be able to recover. This drive is only the second failure I have ever had, and this one was from physical impact... not really a drive issue. I have no one to blame but myself for this loss. I also have some old externals that are 7 years old and still function. Time for more backups. Yes, please back up your information that is important (at the least). Setup a RAID of some sort. Or (if it doesn't include videos) setup up Dropbox/ Google Drive/ Box for cloud storage. (PS let me know if you do Dropbox because I am greedy and would love more free storage). Sorry you lost your data. Last time I completely organized all my music, I accidentally tripped over the external HDD is was stored on and lost it all. 3 years later I haven't attempted the task again. PS- I wish I could provide some anecdotal evidence about SSD life, but mine got stolen months after I bought it.

Picked my son up a ruger 357 single action revolver for Christmas. Nice gun and as close as I could find to a true cowboy gun. Does it blast .38 specials?

A lady at work was "against guns". She shot her first gun a whiel back and started learning about them and now she's hooked.

I need to get Bluetooth in the W's car, Unfortunately getting factory AUX is stupid expensive and I don't want to put in the effort to a new setup.

That is the PPI that is just a mindsp right? Either way, the miniDSP will do EVERYTHING you could ever want it to do and more. The disadvantage being that a computer is required to change it. My boat runs them, my garage and my Escalade will soon. That is what I have read, in regards to the PPI. I was also reading up on the Audison AP8.9, as that would be very nice light weight solution as it is an 8 channel amp and processor in one small foot print. Still bigger and more $$ than 2 miniDSP's. I really wouldn't think twice about it. The ONLY solution that would have me do so is if there was a nice controller option for them that allowed rapid changes while driving. Of course in the Escalade that is the car pc that is sitting right next to me now. It's all about that H701

I would venture to guess, as common as finding a mechanic like you.

I know that I'm just a white boy, but I have only had one instance in my life that I thought a cop was unnecessarily obnoxious to me. My buddy was driving and he ran a yellow light making a turn and screeching the tires (under the speed limit) in the middle of the day, no traffic. He couldn't get him for anything but "reckless driving" which means he would have had to take us to jail. So instead he asked us a bunch of question. He asked where I was planning to go to college and when I answered he said, "Well, it's hard to go there when your dead!" He asked for my ID and I didn't have it and he said, "Well, how would they ID the body if you got in a crash and died!" Throughout it all, we stayed courteous. He tried to have both my friends parents show up so that one could drive his vehicle home. Once he was told that only the dad could show he made him "escort" us home. When my buddies dad ended up getting there, he started off polite with the cop. The cop got rude with him, and then he lit into the cop and eventually the cop backed down. It was a weird situation where I think the cop wanted to scare some punk kids, but we weren't being punks.

I'll be headed home after this hunting/thanksgiving trip with my new ATV! After some basic tune ups, I'll definitely have to do a few mods

I was talking to the owner of the land we hunt on and he was telling me about some stills that were setup by a creek under a cliff on the property back a few generations. He told me we could swing back there and of I wanted, could set up a still there myself

Me.We need to figure that out!I spent a while reading what it takes to get into distilling..... Not simple, but a small investment could turn into a ton of $$$ in 4 years. I could be into the idea.J Garrison Brothers started in Texas and they were 5 million in the hole after 4 years and started turning a profit on the 5th. I bet they are doing really well now though. They make some delicious and unique whiskey

I have thought about trying to make my own whiskey... but I don't have the patience to sit around and wait for 8 or 9 years to try it. You don't need 8 or 9 years for a small batch. A 5 L barrel ages whiskey much faster than a 55 gal barrel due to the surface area to whiskey ratio.

I went to the liquor stores here, no dice on the Woodford Pinot finished If you didn't get them day one, you won't get one. I missed them, but a buddy did snag a bottle. I got to taste it, and it was fantastic. They only released 1400 bottles, unfortunately. They did have a masters collection Rye. 2 325ml with 2 different finishes.

I can't complain about the laptop. It's a Lenovo with a great keyboard and mediocre specs. Best of all, it was free.

I hope that wherever I settle down long term I can find a good mechanic. I've been spoiled my whole life. I had a mechanically inclined Mom and Dad, who had connections at part stores. I've been buying parts at dealer pricing my whole life. When the job was too tough we had a good friend who ran a mechanic shop as a side business and was damn good. He didn't need the work so he never would take on a job that he didn't already understand. Also our neighbor (and 2nd cousin) worked a ford dealership and did work on the side at night. I think I paid 2-300 labor for a clutch change on my Saturn. My buddy just paid 2-300 labor for a brake, rotor, oil change...
