You won't fart near your baby without crying. Seriously you CANNOT do what you propose and once you have a kid you'll be shocked you even proposed it. Embarrassed in fact. What did I propose that was wrong? I'm with you on the 3 wagon, or bite the bullet and get a big Ass SUV. Escalade, navi, sexpedition, etc. Or like you said, buy something until the symbiots arrive. I think he was building on your idea.

Think it's a v6 model
-
Crazy thing is people do that crap every day
-
What you guys think?!?!
-
I also bet you 75+% of people end up buying a more expensive car, even if they paid it off in the shortest term possible
-
It probably is in some situations, but I really don't want to play that game.
-
Not a chance. I think I'm confusing the sales guys with telling them I will not be financing.
-
Also Sean, I think it is hilarious that you found literally the only 328 wagon under $22K.
-
Also, thanks and thanks guys. I'll relay the message back to the wife. If we do the buy a car for a couple years and sell it thing, I'll probably end up backing the budget down. Though, if I can find something i'm confident in selling in a few years with minimal depreciation I'd be okay too.

I always pack a carry on and maybe an external pair of boots or something if I'm not flying (otherwise I wear them) The wife normally packs 2 bags, but we also have a Kennel, dog bag, dog food, normally some kind of gifts, returning a cooler, etc... We try to make the most of a trip to and form home. As of now, we pack it all in the back, which I'd say is pretty good for what we have.

Just realized those aren't his boggers in the pic, must have already changed them. Here is an old pic

Had to post this as well. This is a guys I know from back home 35x12.5x22 TSL boggers on a 22x14 rim. The max recommended width from Interco 11"

To give you an idea on what we do now (and why a wagon won't work). Our current Focus has 18cuft with the seats up and 40.8 with the seats folded. Our luggage takes up the 18cuft (with the seats folded down) and the dogs take up the rest (22.8cuft). Laying down the seats gives us a flat space and place to put the folded up kennel (the dogs lay on top of it). The dogs are a bit cramped in their current amount so we want to give them a bit more space. Also, I realize that cuft isn't the end all be all as the foot print of cu ft has a lot to do wit the comfort as well. So what we are proposing is to do as we do now, lay down the seats and give the dogs heavenly amounts of space. After a kid is entered in to the equation we plan to lay down one seat (the 40 of the 60/40) then have the kid in the car seat of the 60 and the dogs get a little less room. The plan is that they will have enough. Also we currently take 10 hour road trips often. When we have a child, that will not be the case so trips with kids and dogs will likely not require luggage.

Forgot they were still the simple bombproof 2.8. Here's a better pic than in the link. Tons of these in your price range. AWD where you live is a waste of money. Grab some el cheapo wheels and snow tires for $1500 instead. Puts you at about $20 with negotiating. Agreed on AWD. The wife does not drive in the snow and I usually drive the truck if needed. The wagon idea will not work for us. It does now, but it won't later. Sean, in your original post you recommended a SRX, CX-5 and XC60. What reasons made you choose those?
-
Agreed, my apologies. When you've been looking at cars all day you seem to assume that you've put down all your needs and people should know the ones you didn't.

Matt, I appreciate the perspective, but I think our situations are very different. 2 dogs is a lot like 2 kids, There are twice the limbs and twice the personality. Any extra room is a plus and 2 dogs in one back seat is not comfortable for one of the dogs. The volume of occupancy is irrelevant because each occupant requires its own personal space. Also, as I stated in my previous post. This will be a vehicle that will last into the first child. So there will be 3 and the dogs; potentially for road trips as well.

SUV is a for sure. No human babies yet, but we have 2 60lb+ pups and we want to buy something that does have room for the human kiddo in about 1.5-2 years. I'll have to re-look at those vehicles. I think the SRX may be too small for us. I thought the CX5 was, but after looking at some other vehicles yesterday it may not be. The biggest problem I have with the Volvo is that UGLY center console in the years that we can afford. Seriously. a keypad in a car is ridiculous. I'm 6'2 400 pounds. My ! Dog weighs more than your 2 dogs and then add an extra 25 pounds. We fit better in the 3 than any SUV until you get to full size. The 3 series sedan has more room than everything you mentioned. There is no small SUV that will fit your needs. A traverse or edge could work, but they suck. In an escape or Santa Fe we could easily fit the dogs in the back and then people in the second row. You can't say that about a sedan. We own a Ford Focus hatchback now. It is flat out not roomier than anything we have looked at. The new ones are slightly bigger, but still do not have near the room of anything we've looked at.
-
that is the old body style then and a horrible car. The new one is WAY better2013+
-
The escape is the most affordable car. We can find a HUGE amount of Escapes in the $16K-$20K range.

Man the hail storm really hit our area a lot more than I thought. $21K in damages to the house. $4K in damages to the truck Totaled the car So now we are really in the market for a new (to us) vehicle. Our absolute top dollar is $20K sell price. This will keep us in the budget for taxes, etc.... We went car shopping today. Our wants are as follows. 2012+ - This is based on mostly an age/mileage ratio. That and a lot of vehicles we like have made major strides in the last few years. Leather - We have dogs and it's nice to have one area that won't pick up hair like crazy. 25+ MPG Highway (preferred) - This will be our trip vehicle. I want to be able to get 25+ on the highway when I drive pretty much how I want. ... ... ... ... ... 200+ HP (my dream) We ended up driving a new Santa Fe, used Escape, new Rav 4 and new CRV. (new = high end features) We liked the Santa Fe and price of the Escapes (that we see online). The Santa Fe's 2.4L is okay, we didn't drive the 2.0T, though I'm sure I would love it. My wife really like the RAV 4, but we were also in the top tier interior package and I think that helped. I wanted to see if you guys had any comments on the Santa Fe or Escape. Also, is there anything that you would look at in our price range?

So sorry to hear that. Prayers to their family and yours. I always thought I was okay with death, but experiencing it closely has changed me forever. I hope that she is able to take it well.
