In no way am I saying that my way is the best way. Using your phone that way it can be justifiable, but its just not worth it to me to eat the depreciation. I bought my Moto X for $350 on a sale, then got a new one from Moto when they accidentally sent me my phone on a warranty return instead of my wife's. It will be hard for me to keep the phone past this year end (the 2 year mark for this model) but I'll probably rode this thing until it stops working. My next phone it would be nice to have it be waterproof for extra protection.

Paying full retail for phones makes it a lot harder to buy top of the line phones when year old phones work just fine.

The G4 looks like a phone I could own in a year when it depreciates.

I've always go back and forth on cases. My current phone has a Supcase and it has been great. Very little bulk and when you throw a screen protector on you don't feel the edge. It would be hard to go back now with the times a small drop could have caused some major damage. Now if I got a leather backed phone I would have a case. It would just ruig the point of a leather back.

Exactly. There are things now like more than 2 valves per cylinder, overhead camshafts...Even my diesel is DOHC. The LS 4.8 I cited doesn't have 2...but it will still rape any Grand National motor. Not having a completely modern Fuel Injection system is retarded if you are building a car. Obvious exception is old shit with a carb, but once you go injected use a modern piece. The GN used port injection, so the fuel system is virtually the same. He would have to go stand-alone or adapt (which would be simple given tbe Camaro already has the same system basics) the existing system. Basically a pump/injector/regulator swap, and a good tune.Complete drop in LS with harness and ECU are dirt cheap. The dumb thing here is that in a Turbo motor it isn't the motor that makes power but the Turbo. Comes down to what will run the Turbo more efficientliy and this is where the LS will destroy things. Doesn't suck that if you pop a stock motor you can pick one up for $200. Plenty of guys running stock bottom ends near 1000hp with them. Good luck with a GN motor doing that. That alone tells the whole story. Your argument was that the fuel system is archaic when indeed it's not. While we're at it, the Buick 3.8 architecture has changed very little since the 70s, so even the GN engine could be considered modern. Hell, if you want to argue further, there's nothing advanced about the LS design either. Most all it's technology is old and proven and been in use for decades, so. . I really see no valid points here. His stock harness will almost plug right in, so there's half the battle won. GM used both the 3800 and 3400 in them. I personally would use the Vortec 4.3 if doing a six. You also have to remember your definition of cheap is far different than many others on the board. Not everyone wants an LS swap. Hotrodding encompasses all types. With boost, computer controls, and advancements in materials and machining, it's relatively simple and economical to make big power with anything. More interested in the ECU from 98 on than the motor. That was my comment. Sure you can do an aftermarket and I realize not everyone wants an LS, but in a car that will never be worth anything starting off with the cheapest way to make power is logical. Nice sean!...But if you had any common sense you would have built the lower end why you had it tore apart...Hope you have stayed up to date with AAA payments:)Not really. Stock block is a problem on the truck so building it wouldn't help. It's all aluminum so pushing water becomes a reality. Pulling the block out to just to pistons would be idiotic. This is also again where a modern ECU is huge. Unlimited control of everything so I can run closer to the edge and still have a safety margin. Stock block can easily support getting into the 10's. I followed a lot of fsc guys in the past and I have never heard of an instance where the bottom end blew. I'm NOT saying its not possible, just saying that these guys where testing out stupid crazy ideas and blowing out the bottom end was not a common occurrence. Transmissions on the other hand.... But those were mostly 4l60E's

NEVER buy a non-fully loaded used car.And WOW, do you make decisions fast... We've been looking vehicles more than the last couple of days. Pending a great test drive and accepting a well under market offer and making the wife happy it didn't seem like a bad deal to me. We've decided to take off looking for vehicles until we get back from vacation. We have too much else going on before we head out.

Drove a looooong way today to look at a Santa Fe Sport 2.0T. Wife was really excited about it (she had to b at work though). It ended up having too many small scratches and paint chips as well as a recent fender bender. Iw as prepared to fix the fender but the rest threw me off. Other wise is was FULLY loaded which was really nice. Weird thing is, I was ready to make a cash offer and the salesman seemed to have no interest in selling (or thought I wasn't planning on buying it). When I got there the salesman all but threw me the keys and said see you later. I took it for a good long test drive, tested everything out, checked out the outside and took pictures of the scratches. As the salesman and I walked in to talk the sales manager was walking out for lunch with keys to a different car. The salesman gave her the keys and she said, "Are you sure?" and said something along the lines of, "Yeah, it's fine.". He gave me the CarFax and pretty much never said another word. After seeing the condition of the paint I decided not to make the offer and he had no problem with it. it was a really odd situation.

That's what my wife said.I made her watch crash tests and how bad small SUV wrecks turn out compared to das German. Blood in the streets drivers ed type shit. Then showed her she can't get low MPG, low cost, and an interior that isn't horrible for her price point. you live in bumfuck nowhere, what would being higher up do??? Woman logic. Or rather to not be sexist, people who don't understand cars, physics, or anything else logic. To me, being higher up has one benefit. When my arthritis was at its worst, it was easier to climb up an in than to climb up while getting out. If you bumper to bumper a lot being up high doesn't suck either. Truth, that is one thing nice about my lifted truck. But you have NO traffic... Stop bringing logic into this situation!!!!! It is nice to be up and see, but I still prefer the agility of a car over that. However, it is still an advantage of being in a higher vehicle.

What's the Subaru wagon/SUV? Outback or something? That sounds like what she needs. Doesn't like the look.

Go rent one and drive it for a day. If you still are contemplating it, I will personally drive down and beat the shit out of you. I had to suffer on one as a rental. I wish I had insurance on it as I would have totaled it out to get a different car. Seriously shit That is our rental until we replace the car. The wife got in it the first time, started reaching for some of her cars features (seat height, telescoping wheel, etc) and then said, "This is a piece of crap!" Also, I'll throw in that I hate renting cars. can I seriously not have ANY say in what car I get other than a grab bag of random ass vehicles that have probably been smoked in?

On the flip side I grew up in full size trucks and I LOVE being close to the ground. Heck, put in a window so I can see how close my butt is to the ground!

We talked about it and it has nothing to do with logic. She just grew up in trucks, jeeps, etc and enjoys being higher off the ground. We talked about how a higher vehicle is not safer, but she doesn't really care. Maybe if I can get her to drive some different vehicles she'll change her tune, but I think the being low will always be an issue.

Talked to the wife. The big take away is she doesn't feel comfortable in a car and wants to be up higher.
