    1998 Nissan Maxima

This is a build log for TMAX's 1998 Maxima, but since I have all the pics on my digital camera I thought I'd start the build log. The components to this system include. Head Unit Pioneer Premier 880 PRS Front Stage LPG Tweets Powered by a Kicker 100.2 with Seas 7" Mids Powered by two channels of a Kicker 850.4 (I can't remember the exact models so I will comeback and ninja edit when I do. I'm pretty sure it is exactly what ///M5 is running in his Silverado) Substage 2 Sundown 10" SD-1's powered by the other two channels of the Kicker 850.4 bridged to 4 ohms Deadening 2 Rolls Raamat BXT and 6 Yards of Ensolite which will be focused on the front doors and the trunk Day 1 After a bunch of planning buying talking and BS'ing about the system we finally got it started by deadning the trunk. First we stripped to the bare bones Prep/clean the trunk for a good stick The stock deadning The Goods Always a great phrase to see Michael (me) working in the trunk Our High Performance cutting board Travis (TMAX) getting under the rear deck (or probably napping) Rear deck complete and Rear fill FTW!!! j/k The trunk is dead This is all we had left of the entire roll when we got finished for a great day. More install and pics to come soon *UPDATE* January 1st 2008 Got the Head Unit installed and the RCA's ran today! The Stock Setup Got Everything thing tore down. Had a problem with getting the hazard light switch unplugged so we just put the whole piece on the top of the dash and left it connected Random Pic... Had to custom fit a piece in the gap between the bottom of the unit and the pocket. The Scoshe kit provided a new pocket that only made it look worse Remains of the piece that we hacked Added a hole in the back of a pocket to run the Ipod connector into a sweet little spot. Completed! Sorry about the quality of some of the pics, my digicam can be very finicky New headunit is very nice and actually a lot more graphical then I expected. Under a quick listen the stock speakers sound a wee bit cleaner. Travis will be spending the entire night reading the owners manual lol. This is definitely a very involved headunit, but extremely nice

    Welcome to the IHoP

Why can't you include a picture or give the slightest hint to if this will affect the functionality of the pre-amp at all....

    Record Player needs cartridge

Found a Technics SL-210 in the attic at the folks house, as well as a bunch of old records Going to get a replacement belt from http://www.turntablebasics.com/belts/technics.html Also needs a needle/cartridge. JimJ, where can I get the Shure cartridge that you mentioned? or what are some good budget minded cartridges? Would love to get this thing running again. Will hopefully sound great when I get some BIB's up, built, and running

    Record Player needs cartridge

Looks like I'll be selling the adcom pre-amp for one with a phono input. Though I would like to follow the first option, there is no way in the world my budget allows. I'm just stepping in to the Home Audio world and would like to keep it small. If that TVC isn't a pre-amp in its own right then what is it? I see inputs and outputs and a volume control, isn't that just what a Pre-amp is?

Tues - Intro to Advanced Mathematics Exam (don't let the "intro" fool you) Wed - Mechanics of Solids Exam Thurs - Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering Exam The electrical class I was completely lost on but studied last night and started picking it up, the Math test is a lot of memorization and hoping I don't get something simple confused, and I have yet to really study the MoS stuff

So it wouldn't be worth it to sell off my 450 for a 400 or 500 with phono input?

    Welcome to the IHoP

and I just noticed out of the GTP 400 450 and 500, the 450 is the only one that doesn't have Phono input. Why the hell wouldn't it and why do I always happen to by something and notice something really small about it has changed and makes a big difference. I might as well sell my 450 be out shipping and buy a 400 or 500

    Welcome to the IHoP

Phack, getting this record player playing is going to cost me nearly twice as much as my pre-amp

    Record Player needs cartridge

What makes the phono different from normal RCA's? and I could have sworn that pre-amp had phono for some reason. that converter costs more than my pre-amp itself

    Record Player needs cartridge

a who? lol I'm going to be using a Adcom GTP450 Pre-Amp if that helps. The player has just regular RCA cables coming from it, along with a ground cable

    Mono 2ch 4ch

There site says it is rated at 4000x1@1ohm

    Mono 2ch 4ch

This is very true, and a lot of people hear will probably agree with you, but for this application the user needs a lot of watts. It doesn't really matter if its a 2 channel or 4 channel or mono-block as long as it can put the neccessary power to the speaker. In this case though a good mono block amplifier is needed because no other kind of amp is as cost effective. Other amplifiers, such as Hifonics, you have to be weary as to if they even put out the power that they are rated at or if they can stand to be played at such a low ohm for extended periods of time with out breaking down or over heating With those subwoofers I would not look anywhere other than at 3000-D. You could also look at the Rockford T40001bd, but I think that would be even more out of your price range. Realize with the power you need to be putting out there will be a lot of wiring and atleast one extra battery more than likely.
