That's how I feel with gun discussion
-
Having a baby has been kind to me. I've lost 5-6 lbs in the last week and a half.
-
Whoop. Got a low use 60D for $380 shipped. Now, $250 for a 50 1.4 used once or $286 for a brand new 50 1.4

I know, and I have to remind myself that sometimes the ignorant leaves great values in the market that I get to capitalize on.
-
I wish that companies would try to educate their customers instead of pandering to their ignorance.

Waiting to hear about shutter count from a guy and could end up getting a body for under $400. After that I need to grab the 50. I'm thinking I can get one for ~$230 in excellent condition. I'm finding new ones though for $280ish so I'm not sure if I'll just pay up to ensure a clean piece of glass.

Should I pay a dime for a body with an 18-135 Was thinking I could sell it if need be if it made the camera cheap. I would still get the 50 1.4. Don't want to buy something with the 18-135 if I can't sell it. It would be cool to compare the kit lense at 50 vs the prime at 50.

Wife gave me the real go ahead. Now to shop until I stress too much.

BIGGEST problem. Finding the right one and pulling the trigger
-
I am fully convinced on glass being my solution. The problem I am solving is motion blur and poor low light capabilities. I know that a picture with beautiful bokeh will be highly treasured, but the other 2 come first. I'm in the same boat that 8.5x11 will be the biggest I ever print and my current TV is 40" The only reason I would get a 40D over the 60D is being a cheap ass. 60D will probably hold value a little better and give me the video option. As far as upgrading. I do tend to buy something and stick with it for a looooong time (still driving my 02 Silverado I got in college, still have my Trek 1.2 starter bike, still have my BIB's from college in my house, etc...). I had a quick fear that the next gen tech that obsoletes the 60d or the EF mount would kill my resell, but in that case it would just make me hang on to it for longer. I should be able to get the 60d and 50 1.4 for <$700 without shopping extremely hard. How much should I value the following Shutter Count (any no go ranges) Included box, manual (makes me think it was better taken care of) Carry bag Generic Battery Charger, Battery

I think Sean is just is empathizing with my baby situation and knows my brain probably isn't 100% right now.

2.5x to 4x more.

Going to put my financials together and see what I can afford. It looks like in the DSLR a 60d, 50 1.4, and something a little wider. I want to just get the 50 1.8 but I feel like that's more buying the camera then lens and I may hit its limits quickly. Anything comparable in the mirrorless market for the same dough?

Merry Christmas everyone!

Some example photos!

Well my house is definitely very small. My main goal is to get some pics of the little girl. In the crib, on the changing table, with guests, etc. I figure I can accomplish that with a Prime lense. I was thinking about a 60d and a 50 1.4 and going from there.

Resurrecting the dead!

I need the ability to take close indoor shots. Lower light the better.
-
The wife gave me a look and said, "Only if you'll actually use it." As close to a yes as I'm gonna get.
-
I'm now taken a serious look at mirrorless because of the form factor. However the glass cost 150% or more for the same DSLR glass it seems.

I've said it a lot, but I've got to get a camera... I really wish my wife would stop fighting me on it I'm currently reviewing old hop posts. Ryan, there was a "point and shoot" I think you recommended. Not sure if it had interchangeable lenses. Do people rent camera equipment?
