Dad just got a new LG Flat screen, and now I'm pushing really hard to get him to let me build some new speakers I got 80W at 6 ohms to work with, what would you guys recommend? http://zaphaudio.com/audio-speaker16.html http://zaphaudio.com/Waveguidetmm.html These 2 have caught my eye. The second because of the nice drivers and the super simple crossover design

Had a F'n horrible time at the track tonight. Having problem with the E-fans. They don't kick on properly with the AC off (or with it on for that matter) and so I was sitting there in the staging lanes (No AC because you can't) and the truck started over heating. So I shut it off and chilled until I got up to race and only ran a 16.3 (.1 sec faster than my first run) And this is after LT headers, Tune, and E-fans and with about a 1/3 less in the gas tank. I dunno if it was because it was still pretty warm so I let it cool down some more and ran it again (still a little hotter than usual) and ran 16.2, so i said Fvck it and left I know this truck is more than 2 tenths faster. I really need to get a hold of Nelson and get the fans figured out. And my damn headers still hit the front drive shaft when I hit certain bumps and shit while taking a left and I've tried bending them out twice now. But it doesn't hit when running wide open down the track. Really makes me wish I had the money to just say fuck it and go with a turbo system (Could get a damn near turn key twin turbo system for $3500 w/ twin water to air intercoolers). Going to get up tomorrow and take my truck up to a reputable exhaust shop if there still open with the Hurricane coming and all and try to get all the leaks sealed up, and may go ahead and pull the header so I can get a good angle on it and get the clearance I need once and for all. /rant

Just thought I'd let you guys know that I haven't had a calculator in class the last few days and it is kicking my ass. I realized its because I like the application of things that we learn. you can tell me something works all damn day long but until you put numbers to it and show it works I won't learn it. So the teachers are putting numbers to stuff and I don't have a calculator to make sure what I am doing is right. Therefore Calculator > Sean

BP stands for BP now. There is no more words associated with the letters. It once was British Pretroleum then Beyond Petroleum, and now is just BP

I'd like to throw this out there for people who think the calculator does all the work for you. The Ti-89 is like brain nitrous. You throw nitrous on a stock engine with stock components and do no tuning you will for sure end in failure. Now on the other hand if you put nitrous (ti-89) on a modified engine (brain strong in mathematics/calculus) and do some tuning (learn how to use the damn thing) then you will have great results. In my experience the people who were the best at calculus were the only ones who knew how to use the calculator.

meh, then you don't know how so it is pointless. You obviously have never used a ti-89 My point was if you need the calculator to do the problem it is an exercise and not something that tests if you know how to solve the problem. Doing math is trivial, solving problems is what should be taught. I would to agree and disagree (but mostly probably agree). I am going for a ME with a double major in Math. With my higher level math classes we never use calculators, which is fine because, like you said, there is nothing they could test us over that you would need a calc to help prove you learned, but in ME classes i see the objective as "here is something you could encounter in real life. Use the concepts you've learned and show me how you would do it."

Well lack of sleep makes you double post. Which really isn't a bad thing if you want to look at the bright side

Paper and pencil ftw Fuck that. Use a calc and get on with it. I'd rather know what my port length is more than I want to know that I could do that shit on paper

Is there really any reason to vote for Obama? Other than being...

Calculators still have some advantages Besides size, I fail to see the advantage. Even when I went to college, we no longer used them... Size is a HUUUGE advantage. Calculators are much more durable and cheaper to replace. (I've had the same calculator for 5 years now and its lived in my backpack and survived. No way in hell a computer would have lasted.) Also, much easier to use as the layout is designed for it. I couldn't imagine wanting to do a problem and waiting for windows to boot up before I used a calculator, or having to deal with the program lagging because you were using your computer for other things at the time. On laptops you would need a num pad as well or using it as a calc would be hell. Batteries last a lot longer as well. Need any more reasons?
