    Sub Setup for BIB's

Found out what was wrong Receiver has a subwoofer input level. Turned it up and got more volume. Also took my laptop and connected it directly to the amp, ran some test tones and gained the amp up to audible/visual clipping. In the dorm the sub will be in a corner so that should help and the room is much smaller so I think it will be enough.... We shall see. I will say now that it is what I expected for a 10" on 150W

    Sub Setup for BIB's

Well I got everything installed and started listening and I'm very disappointed. First I tried listening to it on my parents home theater. But the little Bose sub (or whatever it is) was over powering it. Took it into my room and hooked it up to my old school panasonic boom box/stereo (with subwoofer out) and it seemed it was working better, but even with the gains up a little over 3/4 and the volume nearly maxed out you could hear it better but you couldn't even feel it. Lets just say the bass it was putting out wasn't overwhelming the crappy 3" w/ tweet mains on the stereo. So far I don't know what to say, maybe it will get a better signal from my preamp when I hook it up with the BIB's. Or maybe the 150W @ 8 ohms won't be enough and I'm going to have to find a sub I can run at 4 ohms... I don't think its possible to have anything wired wrong, but I guess I'll throw it out there. The speaker wires come from the amp directly to the inside of the box and I have it in series @ 8 ohms....

    Sub Setup for BIB's

*Late Night Update* The Box on the "painting stool" Maybe this explains it better. I also have the ability to rotate the box, which is pretty cool After the first coat. It really doesn't look this bad in person Second coat. Looking better but I might have to do something else. I'm thinking trim on the edges of the box stained like the BIB's Thats it for tonight. Tomorrow its time to add the woofer and the amp and test it out

Gah, I wish.... That is me, and my house, but its my Mom's co-workers bike. He had to leave it at our house for the evening. But oddly he lives walking distance from my dorm room. He actually just came and picked it up while I was typing this message

    Adding Sub to the BIB

School is starting and I am looking to add a Sub to my BIB's. For amp duty I'm probably going with a Dayton plate amp (180 @ 8ohm and 240 @ 4ohm) Sub duty is another question... I have 2 options for the sub box. Option 1 - Small sealed under the corner table. I would guesstimate ~1.5 cubes net Option 2 - Shallow wide ported enclosure. Can pull out the couch little bit and create quite a bit of space behind it because of the way the wall and couch is designed. Don't have any good measurements but I think 4 cubes would not be a problem, and box can be as wide as a couch. I'm really leaning toward option 1 at the moment. I don't watch many movies so commanding low low end isn't much of a problem. A sealed box would be easy to carry in and fit universally. Currently I have a MAW-10 I was planning on putting in my truck but I could use it for this and buy a SD-1 V2 from Sundown for the truck, but the MAW could only run 8 ohm so it would be limited to 180 watts. This would make me really be NeonRider's copy cat , so if you have any input it Neon would be greatly appreciated. So whatcha think?

Yeah, Building a box became more fun than fixing other shit. Did conclude that I got a bad tune from Nelson (the tune didn't go through) might evacuate within an hour of Nelson so may go visit him on Tuesday and get everything cleared up

Since I'm already whoring it up. The MAW-10 is such a sexy driver and I can't believe they stopped making them. Hopefully will have a box made for it soon
