Looks like I found my problem. I switched the tweeter wires around so the left was playing on the right and when I got in my truck I immediately heard a hissing and popping sound from the tweet. I turned the HU off and it continues until the amp powers down. I drove around and periodically turned on the radio and every time I heard it. I switched between AUX, CD and Tuner and it was the same. When I stopped again I switched the RCA inputs and still heard it. Keep in mind that when I switched the RCA inputs the new RCA did not even have signal going to it (turned off at the processor). I switched the wiring for the channels again and the problem is gone. So now I am 99.9% sure it is the amp. I will be contacting DB-R electronics as they have done work on this amp before. I think when I first got it one of the channels didn't work. So hopefully I'll be getting this fixed before the holidays and getting my good tweets back in the truck!

Went and checked the DC offset. Ch1 : 0.023 Ch2 : -0.017 Ch1 (using Negative as ground) : 0.356 Ch2 (using Negative as ground) : 0.356 Have no idea what that means. I do know that my Ch2 is actually not getting signal from the processor (well, its getting -13 db signal) I also know I tested both channels at different volumes and it didn't change (or not big enough to notice)

So I threw in the Dayton tweets and listened to them for a long time. They worked great (except for they didn't sound as good). One day I noticed things sounded different. Faded to the left and the tweeter was no longer working... No warning, no hissing, nothing. just doesn't work anymore... I'm really at a loss on what to do.

I would actually give Caterpillar a call, I'm assuming that you are doing this for your grad class/research and see if they have anything that can do such things. Why Caterpillar? Is this for them? If so, make them loan you a SOMAT. Otherwise details of the sensors are necessary for us to help as that can drastically change the price of the acquisition system. As a reference, typically manufacturers pay close to $50k for that capability, but there are much cheaper options. It actually may be a Cat product we test (not sure how Ryan2 knew that). We are looking for something that in the long run the company could continue to use, but instead of us doing research it would be them pulling the numbers sticking them into a program we developed and getting feedback.

Got a question for you technically advanced guys. I am looking for a device to store engine data for a specified amount of time that I can hook a computer to (via 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth, Direct cable, etc..) and pull the engine data off for analysis. I will most likely be plugging it in to some sort of "off-road" vehicle (e.g. Rubber Tire Loader, Grader, Excavator). One problem I have is that I don't know the diagnostic connections available on these vehicles (if they are even available) but that is actually something I can work around by picking different vehicles if I must. I'm mostly concerned with finding a product that has the ability to store data that I can tap into every once in a while and pull all the data off. Data I'm looking to collect includes engine revolutions, oil temp, vehicle speed, etc... Any ideas?

This has been common knowledge for quite some time. I can understand why it has not been done on commuter cars as I don't think it would be too attractive and not many people would like it, but on semis, trains, and plains, this could save so much energy it's ridiculous. The ONLY negative I see is repairs. It would be almost impossible to match a curved surface without replacing an entire panel. I would say, on a semi, train or airplane they probably replace the entire panel anyways because its cheaper to replace it then to keep the machine down for that long. I'm sure an engineer could come up with a easy way to manufacture dimples into it

I was looking around today and found this amp at a local store. My friend has been looking for an amp that could run good power at two ohms mono or a 2 channel that could run 1 ohm stereo and I was wondering if this amp had any guts to it or if anyone could find some specs on it. I figured this might be a good old school amp. If you need some other pictures I can post them too. Thanks Kader

It is a chicks car, with a great fucking engine. No more a chicks car than the only other thing I had it narrowed down to. This or a Porsche Cayenne, but the kicker was I couldn't get work to spring for the turbo but the AMG worked. If the W weren't pregnant again and we only had one car seat to deal with I'd have an 07 M5 or an 07 Alpina B7. Car seats x2 and being 6'7" just don't work. That made me narrow it down to things that would work and then could also tow. Thought about a new Exploder and some mods, but this is the same dough to me and sitting on the inside of one is a WEE bit different in a better way. Has ALL the goodies. I'm glad you said it first. That being said, you wouldn't see me being ashamed of driving it.

I think you read different specs than I did. Either way, I no longer "need" two cars. This one does what my other two did. Considering I don't have space for 3 cars, this was necessary. too tired to think. so what did the other two do that this does? (not being instigative, but just asking)

That is because you've never had one done right. BIG pieces of meat should always be cooked slowly. Frying doesn't do that. And yes an oven can yield skin that is equal to that of a fried bird, but it isn't trivial to get right unlike the deep fryer. You've perhaps seen those oil less deep fryers? Guess what they really do. lol. Don't get me wrong, the skin should be delectable as it IS the best part of the animal. Well my family typically fries smaller birds, no gigantic birds for frying. We typically have two Turkeys one fried and one baked. It's not that i hate baked birds.. it tends to be kinda dry, since the bird has been dropped in oil it tends to be slightly more moist. The oil has NOTHING to do with the moisture level. Proper cooking is what determines that. Tell them to stop overcooking the shit out of the one in the oven. Dry turkey sucks, but don't blame the cooking method instead blame the cook. Feel free to post a little something in the HAF cooking corner!!! please!!!

After reviewing the specs I'm pretty much sold... Find me an Ipod, hook up rockbox, and get that dude to push FLAC through the w505 and to the H701 via optical cable??? I think so... I'm not sure if the rockbox'd Ipod can still retain all the functionality when connected to the W505. shhhhh
