    Welcome to the IHoP

I could really just buy a super tricked out truck for much less than doing it myself. Just saw a ridiculously nice truck for 15K with a 6.0l Turbo, 4L85E that was basically a regular cab SS. (AWD, 4.10 with auburn posi etc...) Assuming I could do all the work I could buy it, then switch the power plants and the truck would still be pretty sweet as a moderate 5.3L AWD then just resell it for less. What ever I lost would be less than I paid for a 6.0L with a turbo and 4l85e transmission. Easy 10K not including the guys upgrades to it. ohh if I had money....

I believe it is possible to bore it to untimately have a 5.7L iron block.

Me? Ultimately I would like traction problems when I want to with my 35's. Thinking of it. That is probably very easy to do with the current block. The appeal of the extra torque, sound, and just saying I did it is what calls me.

Not to mention there return policy is just not fair to them. I wish people wouldn't abuse it though.

Luckily they carry all the backpacks I want to use. But for some they offer free custom hip molding in store. I've been to REI multiple times and they really like to help the customer

Werd. That's why I'm leaning to spend more. The packs I want are a little smaller and have a removable compartment which makes me feel like I can use it for much more than just long trips. I hope to do weekend warrior trips where I pack back in for 2 days as well as 1 or 2 5+ days trips each year.

For some freaking reason though I'm 6' tall and fit the small torso packs but I always though I had short legs. Where the hell does my height come from then!?! Anyone know average leg and torso for people. I'm a smidge over 6' tall 18" Torso (according to REI) 34" Waist, 32" Pants (According to American eagle) 12.5" bicep (irrelevant but measured last night )

    Welcome to the IHoP

Trying to decide what kind of backpack I want to buy. I feel the calling to get a good pack, but I can get the pack that my friends have used for the last 2 years for $80. I would love something that will last me nearly forever, but thats the difference between $80 and $220. Going to go to REI this weekend (Can get 20% off any pack) and spend some time getting fitted and I'm sure I'll see the light

IIRC, that is the 4l60E which is essentially a 700R4, so they are oretty tough unless GM did something fucked up like putting a smaller input shaft in the units for the smaller displacement engines, but I doubt it. They've always made pretty stout transmissions. If I had to pick a weak point, it would be the programming. the 700R4 and 4L60E are almost identical mechanically. they're decent transmissions, but abuse by a healthy small block (gen 1, 2, or 3) will kill 'em. they've upgraded them over the years. there are now 4L65E and 4L70E variants. If you want practically bulletproof, go with a 4L80E. Or a 6L80E. that would be sweet in a truck with it's ridiculously short first gear (4.xx) My buddy had a blown (ProCharger) 95 Z and aside from increasing line pressure, the trans was stock. He abused that thing for about 5 years until the rear end finally popped. God that car was frightening. What I've been told is the extra weight of the truck is what kills the transmission. It holds really well in cars though.

It is kinda nice pulling heavy trailers up hill in lower traction, but I would rather have torque management be my right foot. 100% disabled on my truck

    Welcome to the IHoP

The 4L/T80E seems to be pretty damn bulletproof. Abuse and neglect will kill anything though. I find it hard to believe that not changing the transmission fluid will kill a 4L60E though. I'm not sure on how many cars go to the junkyard with factory transmission fluid, but I bet its a lot. Now I will believe that they put a severe lack of tranny fluid cooling and that in turn will kill it, but just use, no way. Problem with the 4L80 is they suffer from large parasitic drag. But when you need bulletproof, that they are. Edit: Tom corrected me below and I fix0red it

    Welcome to the IHoP

I bet you 8 or 9 times out of 10 they didn't replace the fluid. 4L60's usually fail every 110-120k miles if not properly maintained. Currently at 160K

What are these songs you are referring to? Decaf is the screen name of a guy who mixes music just for us bassheads, I have all his stuff LMAO I thought decaf referred to your songs being decaffeinated. As in your subs can't hand the good stuff so they have to sip decaf

Was about to type up about the 4l60E to 4L80E transmission swap then i remembered you were referring to the engine.

    Welcome to the IHoP

But I guess guys with slicks put just as much, if not more, stress on the drivetrain then my 35's

Which sounds to me with the power up front and the tires out back = Transmission Boom!

    Welcome to the IHoP

Remind me, what do you have for a truck? J SIlverado 1500 Z71 5.3L Currently lifted on 35's w/ 4.56 gears. CAI, Headers to true dual exhaust, and tune If I was to do it (which I doubt I will) I would go ahead and get a nice cam, and really would like to throw a little stall in it.

Nothing wrong so long as functionality is not compromised. I'm not saying form must always follow function, but for fuck's sake a digital audio player with no fucking screen?! Definitely plan on getting one when I run more. I always put my music on random anyways. Plus they are so light you can hardly tell they are there.

ALWAYS. Soft is never as comfortable as hard. If it is you don't bike enough and the cure is to compare on a couple 30 mile+ rides. with that seat, no thanks. Any ideas for seats? I was thinking about just sitting around until something popped up.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Get a real saddle for god's sake, you can't sit on that gel shit. It'll fuck up your ass. Ha ha. I rode it around for a few miles and that saddle was more painful than my road bike's.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Got everything setup on my $30 bike Phone is being lame so pics soon Edit: New shifters with new brake lines and brakes. Shifts really well (on road) and stops on a dime (Koolstop MTB Pads) The front suspension may such, but I'm ready to get out and ride it!
