I have not had much time doing that. I usually try to push the weight up and the reps up as I get more in the groove and warmed up. Reaches burn and failure faster. That's how I've always done it as well. It makes since in a way that if you are hurting yourself then you are definitely "more fresh" at the beginning. Though, counter to that. I was doing leg press max. I got warmed up and decided to jump to what I expected my max to be and couldn't do it. We backed down and I ended up doing 4x1 rep sets of increasing weight that eventually was higher the original weight I failed on.

Not quite. Move from a $16M to a $250M otherwise same role. As in the size of the company?

I'm really trying to develop an entirely new workout strategy. As Stefan mentioned to me at one point previously I was working out too much last semester and not resting enough. I think that I was trying to overcome my lack of rest by giving my body plenty of calories which resulted in no weight loss. Currently, I worked on the all body weight strategy presented by Primal Blueprint. The one weird problem with it for me is it is almost so simple that I almost don't take it seriously. Also the "lifting" portion consist of a workout I'm terrible at (Pull ups) a workout I've never been to great at (Pushups) the workout that has caused me problems (Squats) and the workout that I'm meh at (Planks). which results in my heart rate being at cardio levels for 30 minutes, a lot of grumbled cussing and the possibility of death for anyone who speaks to me. The movement portion, sprints and 2.5 hours of low intensity cardio aren't that bad. Just remembering to get them in is hard. With the start of the new semester I want to have a schedule to stick to so that I know I'm in the gym 3 days a week for lifting and I sprint this one day, and maybe have a long walk/run day scheduled for the pup. I also want to continue developing my body weight workouts while getting back into bench, squat, deadlift etc... /data dump

That's how I do my chins and deads. Per Mr. Leangains recommendation?

Have any of you guys ever experimented with Reverse Pyramid training? Basically, after your warm up you start off with multiple reps of your heaviest weight, then you decrease the weight and add reps for 2 or 3 sets with a good break in between.

Well that whole thing "worked" for me. Throwing up a summary (probably more for myself than anything) I ended up working out most of the semester with my roommate. We sometimes were good at motivating each other, but many times not . In the spring semester I worked out with another friend who is a workout champion and was getting up at 5-530 5 days a week. I gained a lot of strength and got to the point where I benched 205x3. As the semester winded down I really started to tail off because of stress. I got discouraged because I hadn't lost hardly any weight in this entire time despite the fact that I worked out so much. So, I changed tracks and started a leangains paleo diet. I initially started dropping weight like crazy (8 pounds in the first week), but then found that the cost of the foods I was eating plus the preparation time was killer. I again tailed off and now, nearly one year later i am the same weight as my first post (though I would say stronger). I guess I'm preparing for my "new school year's" resolution. I do not have classes, am finishing my thesis and should now have a LOT of time to focus. I am going to experiment with new methods. I am also going to stick to the leangains paleo because I loved tailoring my eating that way, but I've also learned many ways to do it reasonably. I am highly considering getting a juicer so that I can incorporate more vegetables into my diet. Also, I am going to cut my workout to 3 intense weight sessions a week. One sprint session, and then get my cardio through sports activities, walking the dog (she loves 2-3 mile walks), etc. I'll update later on more exact plans. I'm also going to start a personal log in order to help keep track.

I definitely agree with arctic. Post workout dextrose (sugar) and Whey are the best for you. It's really one of the only few times where your body can use processed sugar more effectively than other carbs for recovery. If you are looking for something pre and post work out (though I think post workout is really the best time) then look into whey. If you are looking into protein through out your day you need to first look into natural sources such as chicken, salmon, and tuna. If you can't stomach a natural source for whatever reason or want something different look into Casein. The one big reason I say this is because casein just taste better and it will be more enjoyable for you and also has the benefit of digesting more slowly to theoretically make you feel more full for longer.

But I also am interested in the "Hey let's not put plastic everywhere and make this thing freaking huge" team.

My focus was on engines and thermodynamics. Core for my Master's was Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Statistics. Focused classes were Combustion Science, Internal Combustion Engines (undergrad), and Automotive Engineering (undergrad). Extra classes were Advanced Product Design and Energy Management in Commercial Buildings . Working for Polaris has always been a dream of mine.

If you happen to bump elbows with anyone needing a fresh automotive or All-Terrain Vehicle engineer you can slip them my name.

Sold my Galaxy Nexus last night for $60 more than I paid for it. Now on to my next project of replacing a couple bolts on a p90x pull up bar that I found sitting next to the trash can.

Yes, because my Malamute has trouble with 100* heat so we walk her at night when it's "cooler"

I laughed so hard.

I'm not sure what all that kind of stuff would cost msrp but double the MSRP is normally the price you pay once you include labor at our local shops. When I got my first "system" my parents got it for me at a local shop and it cost something like $450 and all my stuff brand new would cost $200. All they did on mine was install the head unit swap the 4x6 in the front (takes 15 min tops) and put 2 6x9's in prefab boxes in the back.

I' Alcoholic beverages that are darker and/or aged in wooden barrels have more congeners than unaged/transparent ones. ll buy it but then why doesn't the aged rum and bourbon I drink get me wasted fast? I know for me it works in just the order you would expect. I can down beers until I just can't drink anymore liquid and not be really drunk. I can drink whiskey a little too fast and get trashed. Wine gives me a perfect buzz and when coupled with some tobacco gives me and amazing calm feeling.

Can't complain though. with everything that is going on (like all the bills incurred because of the new dog) I'm still sitting at a point where I will pay off my student loans and start collecting some extra dough every month. (which will go towards a ring)
-
Oh and to top it off, because I'm only taking 1 hour to satisfy my degree requirement I am not considered at least half time and I am now getting an extra $128 pulled out of my check a month for medicare and social security

Craigslist bro. You live in such a populated area shit will sell fast.No fees either, and no shipping usually. Plus people who use crags list are not usually "shoppers". You can sometimes buy things online and sell them for more than you paid even saying they are used.I almost started a CL business doing that. That's what I'm doing for my Verizon Galaxy Nexus replacement. I'm taking the one I bought for $200 and selling it for $300 Market for my Transformer Prime is low here so I think I'll be able to sell the dock and tablet for $450 which is better than eBay before the fees.

Yeah, they hold you responsible until you file a claim with their resolution center

I was able to connect my newer Android device to this for bluetooth calling. Also included is a 3ft USB to USB Mini cord to connect the NVE-P1 to your computer. You will need to buy a GPS antenna for Navigation and a microphone for bluetooth calling. I am selling it for $110 and will ship for free (continental U.S. only; AK and HI I can offer a discounted rate)
