You'd have to mount them inverted to get any sort of sleeper effect out of them though! I don't know why people buy subs that look big just because they look big... only the owner is going to know what monsters they really are unless, like I say, they invert them. The cone of a sub with a monstrous motor is going to look to the same to a layperson (when mounted normally) as the cone of a sub with a unique motor like this. Who cares about size! It's the performance that matters. This sounds like a speech from the president of the small penis association, but you get my point. Ironically, I forgot that I had a picture of my apx in my avatar - please ignore the contradiction of its motor size and the message I'm trying to get across.

Keep in mind, the pair of strapped amps will halve the final impedance of the subs... If my math is right, you could run eight SVC 4-ohm subs and end up with a 1-ohm load for each amp (2 ohms strapped)

I had a miserable F-ing friday (yesterday). Earlier this week, a guy was "Selling" Incriminator 40.1's over on canadiancaraudio at crazy prices... (read: $600). He made it sound like he was just desperate for a quick sale, so I figured hey, may as well take advantage - I wanted to pick up a temporary amp to keep me busy until the 3000D's come out. The guy gave me a tracking number on thursday, and said he had shipped it out on wednesday. Turns out the tracking number was invalid... I tried repeatedly and gave up on friday. I messaged another guy that had "bought" a 40.1 from this seller, and he had the same symptoms. We compared tracking numbers and they were the exact same. Turns out there are 4 of us that got fleeced (all with the same invalid tracking number), if not more. I guess we'll find out how many people feel the sting in the near future. Now I'm out $600, and my summer plans hang in the balance. Hopefully paypal can get me my money back from this dirtbag; it's a shame people like him exist (username- BassInYourFace).

Interesting tip, stardom. The pucker has resurfaced, although it's probably too late to pursue anything now, assuming this lead goes anywhere.

Hey guys, I had sent an email awhile back concerning a recone kit for a 12" RE SX (D2) - I'd seen that you had been able to send kits out earlier, and was wondering if you can still do it (and if so, at what price?)... Preferably with that sexy new dustcap I saw while browsing the forum (the one that looks like the original SX cap, but with a Fi logo!). I live up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Thanks, Ryan

I received my stuff today, stunna... Hold tight!
-
I got a notice and picked the package up today; everything's in great condition - thanks!
-
Excellent, I eagerly await them and thanks for the update.

Well my score dropped noticeably two nights before that 2X in Edmonton and I couldn't figure out why I was only doing low 147s... When I pulled out the subs a week or so afterwards, I noticed that one of the coils was dead on one of the SXs. That was only with one Z1, but they had taken a lot of abuse in testing so it was understandable. To finish that sub off I strapped both Z1s on the remaining coil. And here I am.

Nope, that's depressing now that I know there is such an email though... haha
-
No doubt things will be crawling across the border and the Fi-Guys are busy, but it'd just be nice to know whether or not the stuff's even been shipped yet!
-
They seem to have dropped off the face of the earth... I sent money for some stuff on the 22nd of November hoping to be set by Christmas too, but I haven't heard anything since they received the cash; despite emails and a thread. I'm from Canada too, maybe that's our problem... Canada-haters! Just kidding.
-
Bump. Sent money three weeks ago and haven't heard a thing since
-
I know you guys are busy, but I was just wondering whether or not the recones left on Nov. 28 as mentioned, since I haven't heard anything since. Thanks! -Ryan

They're doing Z1a's now

To all the people that submitted to the Rides section:

My saturn works alright, best I've done yet was only a 146 with a pair of 12s though. Maybe with such a small chamber for each 18, you'd be better off tuning higher.... maybe add another 5.5" port to each chamber too. It seems normal to me that loudest would be a few hz above tuning frequency - say 5-10... My box is tuned to about 58hz and is loudest at 65hz in my SC1. Edit: Are your ports internal or external?

Unfortunatly due to $ constraints, new subs wont be for a little while. Those ones still had a little left in them though. Copper and new box for sure though. What do you think I should run for box Ryan? I'd say build a 5 cube box and use external aeros so you can trim em' and tune. Then stuff the box with whatever to displace some volume and start over with the ports until you find whats loudest. You'll have to find what position and frequency works best. If you're feeling ambitious, your best bet will probably be to seal the trunk and fire forward - that seems to be the way to go with trunks. That's next on my list of things to do. Did that in my car and lost .8 db's. Working on a sweet spot in my trunk now. (although running sealed till the new box is built). There is a spot in my trunk that at 45-50 hz flexxes the area right along the inside of the windsheild really well. Been playing around with that spot with the test box and hit pretty well. Silverbane: I know what you mean about cash. I would get TC sounds OEM 10" woofers instead (350 for a pair). They are effin beasts. Wow, is that ever cheap! I never would have guessed that price from looking at them in your thread.

Yeah, you'll definitely need more copper in that car... and a new box... and new subs... and TL time. Nothing major though! Ha
-
It was definitely a good time. Wasn't that CRX doing a 152? I know you guys have potential with those amps - we'll have to get together for a termlab session some time to up that score.

How big is your port and what is it tuned to?

Agreed... I don't know how much longer I can last, somebody else might have to tag in for the last 27 minutes just because it ends tonight doesn't mean the winner will be announced tonight :fyi: I'm aware of that, I was eagerly awaiting the end of the contest.
