I decided to make the switch to these from my Image Dynamics X69s. The X69s were awesome because they were a breeze to install. They did not come cheap though. My biggest gripe with them is that well they basically kept falling apart on me. I had the voice coil separate from the cone three times. Yes I was giving them way beyond the recommended power, but the coils still never even smelled, the speaker just came apart. I was able to sell the pair to cover the cost of these speakers and some luckily. First impressions unwrapping, the cone is not a beauty to look at lol. I wasn't expecting much, but next to the X69s the cone looks, well cheap. The basket and motor are a different story though. Basic, yet nice. And after dealing with the X69, obviously looks aren't everything because those things are a piece of art. I am very impatient so I just hooked up free air right away before finishing my baffle, didn't seem that loud (this is off ~35 watts). Finished up my baffle mounted and we are in business. Speaker has no problem getting louder then the X69, not too much but it is noticeable (off half the power). So far I only have one side mounted (I made 2 baffles, and turned out I needed to double baffle each side lol) but I am very impressed. It sounds very nice, maybe even better the X69. This of course is with the Ms8 tuning for the X69, and only one side to judge. I will update when I get the other side in and re-tune. (And eventually get my sub amp, so I can get really give them some power) Needless to say I am very excited.

^^^ If I ever finish this build, I may have some glass work done on the trunk lid for tailgating. But if you hear of any shows locally, let me know man, I haven't been to one in forever.

X2 The only thing I don't like about the looks is the surround. Wonder why Jacob went with the "W" shape. Waiting to see what you say about their performance. It's a cloth PA style surround -- those are generally in W or multiple ridge shape. They are lighter and more efficient for this type of driver. This speakers are efficient no doubt lol, with ~35 watts they don't need much more for the average listener. I didn't mean to start a discussion about the looks of the driver... I think we all know performance is what matters, especially when the driver is hidden anyways.

I'm actually running a Kicker IX500.4 for the whole front stage. with under 35 watts per speaker, the car gets pretty loud.
-
If you ever make a trip up this way, I will demo it for you.

I got the other one in today. I will hold off on a review until I have a few hours of listening time, but lets say for now I am very pleased.

I think the biggest fail here is everyone bashing a sub no one knows anything about.

Picture updates in my build thread, its in a Challenger.

Guess what came in today... Cut-out two baffles yesterday... Obviously I wasn't thinking because I need 4, they need to be double baffled. First try mounting them, the door panel fit on... does this happen? Ever? I was ecstatic to say the least.

Sound > Looks lol... Sefugi here is a quick shot, I will have more later tonight and tommorow.

3.6" on the 8" for depth According to his diagrams it is 2.6". Is it 3.6 or 2.6? That is a huge difference for most of us.

Technically you could make a thin layer of fiberglass (I would split the floor up into two sections) and make a copy of the curves with the fiberglass and trace that onto the wood. do this a few inches out for each side. Then find the center of the trunk and measure to each side the maximum width. Cut a piece of wood out using your max width and legth for each side and then put your fiberglass mold to the very outside edge of each piece, trace and then jig.

Yea haha, I lived there when I was like 8 years old for only like a year.

Well, you have made everyone happy!! Yeah, that amp rack is sick! Really wish I could hear an IB setup one of these days I used to live in Tucson lol. If I still lived there though don't know if I would of ever got into car audio.
-
Everyone is loving the amp rack! Lol, I'm happier with how factory the baffle looks.
-
Thanks, I will snap some more pics later.

Pics of?

More updates =). Built a new amp rack, and carpeted the baffle. Money is still tight so still waiting on a second sub. Have this one playing right now bridged off a 500.4 and it is no where near enough power (Or maybe because the other hole is just covered by carpet lol).

Love the wood work. I need a nice round over bit, that jasper wouldn't hurt either. I have a cheap one that if you don't make sure it's 120% tight it will slide out of place. -
I'm confused by your charts. What are the cut-out dimensions?

When will the last day of pre-order be? I am in contact with ID trying to figure things out since this my 3rd set that have gone bad on me, then I can send money away.

Looks like my mids fell apart on me AGAIN. I believe I now will be trying this guys out and hopefully they can match or out do my X69s now. Jacob: Would 125rms and 65hz @ 24dB be a bit too much for the 8?

A lot of people are loud.. I mean bassracing 150+ is one thing, but almost anybody with a suv can buy 2 18s, 4kw and be right around a 150. Not all of us strive for loud with that being said though lol. Guess I hang out on DIYMA too much.
