I was beat to it... but, DAMNNN!!

    The buddies 18 Q

    looks good! ....#'s?
  3. Well.... I'm gonna run a orion 2500D to two BL 18"s, another idea 4 ya. As long as you do "big three"; any should be good, but 4 the $, Sundown probably win as far as quality, or atleast thats what you"ll be told here. The orion will do .5 ohm easy, and problably push close to 3,000 rms mark doing it. They can be had on ebay for $300+, so I went that route. check out the ROE vid site; there is a vid, were a 2500D beats that crap out of two BTL 15's.

    BTL VS. Q

Well first off, the Q's need alot of airspace, probably a min. of 6 cubes, so thats gonna be a huge box to do 4 18"s. So i'd vote for 2 btl's loaded, and power 'em with something big... If 2 18" BTL's is not enough...I don't know what is

    Speaker bs...

So after some talking here on the forum, I have a Orion 2500D on the way. I was thinking of putting 2 FiAudio 18" Q's in a Jeep cherokee, box would net about 12.5 total cubes, so a little over 6 cubes per 18". Say goodbye to cargo space.... However I have seen some comparision of this brand vs. that brand... and am at a loss. The TC-sound subs look good, some say(on ROE forum) better than Fi-Q in SQ & SPL, due to higher BL. Yet I have not found many spl test on them, but wouldn't doubt it being possible. The Massive audio WC sub looks decent too, putting up 145.8 for one 12" sub on the TL, on the ROE vids... very impressive, looks kinda cheap though...? Anyways just looking for some ideas on what would give me the best bang for my buck... With that amount of power & airspace. 2-18"s or 3-15"s ... can't decide, would like to stay in the 15-18 size. any ideas/ other brands in that price range?

So flip a coin, then build a good enclosure. got it.

    Speaker bs...

So the general consenus would be Fi - BL/Q, or SS - Rl-p. With I imagine the nod going to Fi in the spl area... And SS in the SQ area...roughly speaking. I am curious to see the new Rl-p 18" though... 47mm of one-way mech X-max! wonder how it would stack up to the BL/Q?
  8. brent338

    spot the brand

fusion, earthquake, SS old & new, kicker, target, panasonic... err my eyes hurt now.

    Speaker bs...

figured so... I never took much time to examine the meaning of all the different perameters that are listed for any subwoofer. Well other than; RMS, Sens., x-max, coil size, ...the easy stuff. Fi-Audio seems to be making some quality subs for great prices, and great cust. service so i'll probably go with them. I just thought I'd ask the experts if that was the best choice for the set-up I gave... I saw soundsplinter was making some rlp's? in 18", looks promising as well.

say the TC-3000, 15"... they only make an 18" in the 5200 and up series, but those are pretty spendy. So just stay with the Q's? would they handle all of the orion 2500D? or should I go with a modified BL version; P-chamber, venting...? ect.

    Wow what a scare!

So I was looking to built a nice comp/sq. system in my Jeep cherokee couple of FI-audio 18Q/15Q. So far I've got the alarm, yellow top optima, and two sets of MB Quart qsd-216's. However I have seemed to blow my older mid amp; A mtx 4320 thunder, you know the red & black ones. can't figure out how it happened, but need either to get it fixed or just consider getting a new one. Hence my problem, my bud had originally planned to go with soundstream PCA2000D, bu the found and oldschool US amps DE1000, on ebay.... I bought it, then researched the model. I found an older topic on this forum concerning this very seller, "Chassis" and promply responed as to how I'm not interested, which he seems to be willing to cooperate with the refund.... So if I get my $ back what kinda amps should I look at? Soundstream, Hifonics...heard the "SS1" blew the oldschool US amps away, who makes them? Need on to run the two sets of QSD 6.5's, and another sub amp to run a couple of Fi-audio Q's.

    18" RL-p under production

    <--- patiently awaiting pics...
  13. Very nice... My XJ will be getting two Fi 18's in a little while....

    Wow what a scare!

Now if more people thought that way.... I agree, Sundwon has put together a very fine piece of equipment. However, for the price of 1 SAZ-1500D, I got a Orion 2500D & a 8004. Had I more $, I woulda got the sundowns...but I think i'll be ok with the orions...
  15. brent338

    Wow what a scare!

I did some more searching, and read that the orions dont like high volts threw the rca's. Im running a Alpine 9855 comp. deck with 4V pre-outs i believe...will that be a problem?
  16. brent338

    Wow what a scare!

So lets say I found an 05' orion 2500d for $400, that's a good deal right? how low ohm rating can they be run? i've always liked orion, and this one would put out more power than the sundown for less $... not that i'd use it all, but its aways better to have more. putting less stress on the amp, by not running it at full tilt 24/7. while were at it, done 2 of the Big 3... what kinda Amp alternator would that monster orion need? I found a 205A, probably not enough?
  17. brent338

    Wow what a scare!

Thats kinda why i'm lerry of getting them... Is there any forum or page that I can check out amp bench results....? I supose i could just wait and save longer and get the sundown saz-1500d, and their 4 channel... or look forever for an Orion 2500d, how are the Rockford fosgate T series?
  18. brent338

    Wow what a scare!

I guess i'll get the Hifonics BXI2006D, and maybe the Zues ZI6406 for the MB quarts. the brutus looks very well built 4 the $, and if its remotely close to 2,000 rms that will be plenty of power for two Q's. Thanks 4 the help.
  19. brent338

    Wow what a scare!

I guess the Kicker kx2500.1 and Orion 2500 would be in that range as well, would those be better?
  20. brent338

    Wow what a scare!

Still can't decide. my bud tells me just get SS or hifonics, that hes spent the $ on top names before and its not really worth it. And to be honest, the system will be mostly a daily driver, and see 1/2 to 2/3 power most of the time. Sooo.....? Hifonics brutus bxi-2006D-- 2000w rms @ 1 ohm. ~ $330. Soundstream PCA-2000D-- ^same ~ same could step up into the XX Colossus($640) & PCA-3500D($500), But I have read that the Colossus is an under performer @ the 12V setup, and no one seems to be using SS, or at least there being very quite about it...
  21. brent338

    Wow what a scare!

Yeah that Sundown SAZ-1500D, definately caught my eye. Saw some bench test stats, very impressive... .3 ohm test? How about the massive audio P3000.1, a bit cheaper than the SAZ-1500 and 2x the "rated" power. There subs seem to be making waves too, 145.6 with 1-12" on the term lab! 147.? with a 15" anyone else have some opinions?
  22. brent338

    Wow what a scare!

Didn't think they were any good, any recommendations? Will definately be pushed, but for the most part daily driver. Seems that once a company goes corperate, quality goes down the tubes. how are the soundstream pca's? they used to make quality stuff...
