Denim, i got lucky, I was in the market for two SPL subs with 400 dollars in hand (going to buy just the first of my Fi Bl's) when I saw these and figured the price was right, and after talking to the design engineer on the phone for about an hour my mind was made up.

Sq systems can be very simple (a set of good components (ran passively) and a sub with decent amplifiers), sound deadening is a must. A decent headunit with a 7 band eq is generally enough, especially one that has time alignment features. If not than your best bet is getting an eq. As for amps, headroom is the key for good sound with no distortion. As for speaker location, minimizing the path length difference will help with imaging. From there it can get expensive and complicated very easily. You can run a 30 band eq, with multiple sets of components, or you could do compression horns, electrostats, ribbon midranges etc... As for amps, thd isn't critical, you are looking for a company with a decent reputation, and overall good clean power. You don't need Audison amps and McIntosh decks, but they do have their plusses. SQ gets expensive very fast.

johnnylemoine, your avatar is awesome!

i would just buy a sundown saz-1500d and set your gains properly, giving you plenty of headroom, and an awesome amp as well.
-
did you measure the headunit outputs, what head-unit are you running etc... It could be that somewhere in all of your headunit features, somebody turned the woofer outputs off.

nm, welcome to SSA, the land of neverending audio awesomeness.

Unless you are limited by your organization/ class than I think optima's are great. Personally because I only get one battery, I am going with kinetik
-
after you resolve your amp issue, work on electrical upgrades so you can run the amp @ .5 ohms and feed that btl some power.
-
Personally I would go with the 10" Q or SSD. Be glad you don't have my 10" woofers because the mounting depth on them is 9".
-
I have 2 of them, next weekend I will start the glasswork in my trunk to set-it up and hopefully finish (in two and a half days) a false floor style box.
-
awesome job... thanks for the inspiration as my goal is 148 for this season with two 1500d's and 2 10"s in a trunk car.

I like Atreyu and my all-time favorite rap song (don't ask me why, I just like it) is Blueberries by Luda. For bumping I like to show off a mixture of rap/rock and jazz. Than i normally finish my demo off with a 35-65 hz slow warble or sine sweep. It all depends on what I am demo-ing. If I am showing off my components I will stick to groups like five for fighting, If i am demo-ing my headunit/ipod integration that the sleeves come up, and the ugly comes out. If I am "teaching" the kid with the Sony xplodes than I might throw in some chamillionaire or lamb of god. If it is someone telling me how much louder their stuff is. I just start it off with a 45-55 hz medium warble @ 60, and watch them plug their ears and do the fetal position.

for 900 he could do 2 saz-1500d's.

uh oh, another Fi owner in Hawaii, if we get too many and they all burp at the same time, one of the islands might disappear!!!

I don't blame you there. I paid TC sounds yesterday, and they haven't even sent me an email saying that they got my money or anything, and I have to wait till Monday to call them.
-
I believe Jacob said his goal was a 1200$ msrp, it might be different at production time, but if you are interested, i would start saving now and get them on pre-order (if there is one).
-
I think he is saying he is just getting the motor, and not the basket, although if i were him i would just get a pair of TC sounds OEM 10" woofers which have the tc9 motor and a Lightweight honeycomb glass fiber cone.

you should be fine getting 100 watts rms out of any channel wired @ 4 ohms.

RCA's
audio-neon replied to JazzScreamer's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I also have the knukonceptz krystal rca's. -
those mid 90's early 00's stangs are pretty slow, but don't take it from the kid in the neon... One of my buddies has a cobra, and from a 30 roll i only get to his back bumper at 52, than its end of first gear for me... and my neon is an auto (and completely bone stock) Don't get me wrong they are awesome cars and pretty quick, but not as impressively quick as an ls1 camaro, or fox body stang.

Glad to see you finally post something other than just reading about it, and saying nothing.
