Personally I would look for a used american bass 200.1, 500.1, memphis 4kw mojo, incriminator audio 20.1/40.1, Sundown Saz-1500d, 3000d, There are just soo many amps out there that can deliver some crazy power. Even the lanzar opti-drive 6000 was reviewed to put out 6kw and do it well. No firsthand knowledge on any of the Lanzar opti's so someone else will have to step in and say something on behalf of lanzar.

I am definitely not an spl expert being an ex sq competitor, but I have learned a couple tricks so far.

Well the dampening was actually just thrown on their b/c the resin was still wet and I needed a way to carry it to my car without getting stuck to it, which i did anyways. The resin inside the box makes sure that all seams are completely airtight and strengthens the mdf. hmmm, never done that before. Do you do that and put caulk around the seems as well? Or does resin suffice? I stick with two to four layers of resin on the inside and a good layer on the outside, I have not posted the duct-tape pics yet either, as I wrap the box with duct tape which also helps with sealing, and makes finding air leaks as easy as looking for tape that is "bubbled" Another benefit to a resined box is that it is waterproof.

I am glad that TEJ won it, if not I would have been pissed cause even though I am not on the Fi forums 24/7 Like i used to Tej has first hand experience with the product, whereas i have knowledge and firsthand experience with tons of different products, although none from Fi. Tej is a great member of this community and a very helpful person who has taught wayy to many of us a thing or two. I would have loved to have won it for a 18" Q for HT use as well as that is my current project besides finishing my Sundown/ TC sounds street A db drag car.

Deffinitely cool stuff Tom, I have a thing for classic camaro's and newer ones, not a big fan of the 2nd gen, and only really like the late 3rd gen and late 4th gen, as well as all 1st gen. My poor neon got raped by a late 3rd gen once. I was 16 and ignorant. Anyways, good morning to you all. My back is still injured, car is still not finished, customer boxes need to be built still, walling off my trunk this week, still working a 60 hour week and going to another comp this upcoming sunday. What a busy week. damn...

Welcome to SSA! what 10" woofer are you running, and I agree with sean, ditch the rears

I like the yamaha recievers for budget, but it really depends on what $ amount constitutes budget to you.

which amp(s)
audio-neon replied to madscientist's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I was planning on getting the SSDs with the copper coils only. Than I would suggest one SAZ-1500d. Giving you ~1600 watts rms @ 1 ohm. Perfect for copper coiled ssd's. -

+1 Sundown ftw -
Personally I would have to say after myself testing audison, brax, arc audio, tru, sinfoni, genesis, focal, DD, soundstream, alpine, zapco Diamond d7's, etc. I have yet to prefer anyone of them over my eclipse ea4000, save for the tru amp which was a tube amp. I know that when I finally make the purchase that I will not be upset or un-satisfied with Jacob's product. I had a audison lrx400.1 before my saz-1500d. Along with blowing up a z1, DD m1, eclipse xa1000 and several other amps and love my sundown more than any of my previous subwoofer amplifiers. I guess my point is that with the proper tuning amplifier's should play little to no audible difference in any setup period. If you can hear a difference, than one of them is distorting the sound you are trying to re-create. An amplifiers job is not to color sound just increase volume through increasing power.

I am impressed to say the least, I love the shattering of windows caused by excessive spl.
-
You need to talk to someone else... Heh. The Z1a amps are pretty sweet, but the previous Z1's did have their issues. It has taken me 2 months to get them to even acknowledge the fact that my DD m1 was made by them. All to get told that I would be better off sending it to united radio for them to fix it, as it would take much longer for DD to fix my amp. The only issue I have is that it emits rf noise through the woofers, and clips like a whining virgin biotch... no matter how low the gains are. I loved the amp before it broke.

mine benched an impressive 1821 watts @ 1ohm at 13.8 volts. I love my saz-1500d, and would not sell it ever. I think I will keep this amp forever (might not use them forever would deffinitely run the 3000d's in their place) but would always have them. -
I refuse to buy a product from a company when called about a repair, refuses that they ever made a DD m1 amplifier (you know the black with silver stripe very similar to sundown amp cases.

a pair of TC sounds OEM 10" woofers would only be 350, shipped within the continental us.

New Street A System.. Need Opinions!
audio-neon replied to mike11202's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
dont let him fool ya,hes mid 140s about to move into high 140s with a good power source and a new deck And I am not running "huge amplifiers" I am @ 140.7 with one saz-1500d, and all of the aforementioned issues going on in my car. My kinetik is in the mail and that will help a little. Than during these 2 weeks I will be adjusting all of my windows and temporarily fixing my gasket issues for the comp on the 17th. Will be running 2 saz-1500dls for that and my goal is 143. In a hatch I would be much closer to 50's though. The car is one of my biggest hurdles right now. -

I would look into bigger amps as well. American bass 500.1, IA 40.1, atomic 5000d, cactus 5kw etc... -

I am also just barely over 140 as of right now, and at only 1800 watts and zero sound deadening and frame-less windows that leak and my windshield gaskets leak as well. (just had to pick on you denim.) To be competitive locally is obviously dependent on where you live. I happen to live in the area of most team 420 members so being competitive locally is only when there is a 3x show somewhere else. -
What voice coil configurations do you look for?
audio-neon replied to Puggsley456's topic in General Audio
I love quad coils. I love to see a driver with quad 1.4 ohm or 2 ohm coils, it gives you the ability to strap a pair of amps or 4 amps to one sub, it also allows you to maximize efficiency for comps by running next to nothing impedances and than with two subs it is very easy to run them at a more reasonable daily impedance. -
jeff is doing that in his camaro, but he has his ipod running to his alpine h701, so he still has full processing. His hu is out for repair.
-
The DD 1500 series actually sounds really good. What would I compare them too, idk yet as I have yet to come across a sub that is as tiny and fun as the 1508, but than again I would take my TC oem's over it anyday. DD has decent sq, obviously not Fi Q, or Rainbow aura sq, but sq greater than what you can find in a big box store none the less. My major qualms with DD is the customer service and never-ending backorders on equipment. Another suggestion would be the SSA ICON.
