  1. i wish every state had that law, would cut down on traffic congestion big time as well as traffic accidents. anyway, i welcome the law however the impounding is a little extreme but ticket the f***ers to the hill till thier wallet teaches them to respect others NY has the cell phone laws too, as well as text messaging fines as well. (working on that part atleast)

    Welcome to the IHoP

    morning hop.
  4. I have never not heard a siren in either my sq car which was fully sound deadened or my stock system neon. I have only missed hearing one siren, and it was in my 140+ dB spl car.
  5. I didn't know factory systems were louder than 120 dB which iirc is about how loud a police/ambulance/fire truck sirens and horns are from 10-20 feet away. If you have an issue with anything I posted you can PM me. I made a point of proving why things like car mirrors are useless when you are going full tilt with your system. WE ARE NOT HERE TO QUESTION my driving ability, I have 0 accidents, 0 collisions. I was just pointing out that the law is more than just stereotyping, or discriminating. I don't ever list statistics but I bet if you called an insurance agency and asked what the most common causes of accidents are among 16-24 year olds it will be something along the lines of distractions. Oh and if you bothered to read my opening statement I also showed that laws like the one mentioned are in effect and even more strictly depending on where you live.

    hertz vs CDT

I'm forewarning you. This isn't my old car with quick connects just laying around in various places to test speakers (and dum dum glue (that sticky silly putty stuff)). My thoughts on them will be biased as they will be run off of a factory headunit and being held in place by my hand. (plus I will only be hearing midrange from one side and a hertz deici co-axial will be providing the midbass/tweet on the other side.

Oh, I should ask are you going to have the mid in the kick area or are you going up in the pillars.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I guess its just my luck but no matter how much I drink I still remember most of everything. I have done nights of just straight tequila, or jack etc... I remember them all. I love falling asleep after drinking. I sleep for maybe 4 hours but when I get up I feel great and full of energy.

I approve. But you don't want to buy beer in grocery stores here, its only 3.2%. I need to get a case or two for this weekend though so I'm gonna have to get the roomie to make a liquor store run for me. I'm not a big fan of beer, I guess its probably from a lack of drinking any beer other than coors light in my life. Big fan of southern comfort, most vodka's (not flavored) and black label Jack.

I'm sure it all sounds great.. I'll have to snoop around tomorrow and see what they sound like in free air in my car. It's the best I can do as I don't have a mounting spot for 3 or 4" drivers.

I love my 8v pre-outs, lol. But I hear you there, I think the farthest I have ever had my gains turned up on any amp was just over the half mark on some of my eclipse ams.

I've heard that from a few other people too. How much math do you need? Now that I figured out you were talking about engineering was too much math for me too, I went from Chemical engineering to Pharmacy.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Currently sitting at work, I spent yesterday doing wire management for one of my buddies. Its another expert IASCA sq car, so it's one of those stupid projects where the wires are tied every 4" exactly and the writing on the wiring has to all be facing the same way and all visible and parallel. It wasn't too much fun but the truck is starting to sound really good. Just waiting on amps now.

    hertz vs CDT

The only 3-way I have ever heard was the hertz mille system. All of the high energy stuff sounds good, I have never played with anything between 3" and 5.25" though.

orange, light blue, orange, blue, yellow, yellow, orange, orange nice we have some peeps in the hop.
  22. I guess you guys are all glad you don't live near me. In Troy NY they impound your car and a 250$ fine for the first offense, second offense is impounding, 500$ and they take your "system"... Idk about you, but I have had cars in the 140dB range that when set up for daily you couldn't hear from 25 feet away even if I turned the volume up. Not only is it annoying for other drivers but having music up that loud is reckless, can cause accidents and even deaths. One time I was coming home from a SPL comp and I was playing around, I had a cop car that was following me for over a mile with his lights and sirens on trying to get me to move out of the way so he could respond to a call. You tell me is it worth it to go to jail for evading arrest just because you were listening to your system? Is it worth it to not be able to hear other peopls car horns or emergency services sirens. My point is once your system is clearly audible from 25 feet you ARE too loud. Have you ever sat in a mustang with a shaker 1000 system and cranked the volume? do you notice that you can still hear things around you. The entire reason why car companies are trying to make it harder for us to put in our own systems is to promote vehicle safety, not for us to spend over a thousand dollars or more on their entertainment package. No reason you shouldn't have seen the cop behind you... I guess I was taught how to drive totally different than you.. Have you ever tried to use your mirrors with over 140db of noise in your car. They are utterly useless. (also didn't have a rear view mirror b/c it had broken off at the competition and shattered). I didn't get arrested, I was making a point with that sentence. I don't know about how you drive, but the general routine is checking your mirrors every 30 seconds. We are not here to critique the fact that I was being an ignorant 20 year old kid who was so wrapped up in my system and the songs that were playing that I was just keeping my eyes on the road in front of me. The kind of attitude you just posted was a blatant attempt to slander me and ignore my point. Forgive me for fitting into the "stereotype here." Forgive me for driving like the majority of the kids that shouldn't have a liscence in this country. Forgive me b/c when checking my mirrors (mind you it was daytime) I mis-took the red and blue blurbs a car because that is all they were. EXCUSE ME for making a mistake once in my life. Now lets get back to the point, systems in a car when played excessively loud are unsafe and can be a major distraction.
  23. I would argue the increased use of telematics is actually more unsafe, but that could be a whole thread by itself I totally agree, but you do agree that blasting your stereo is unsafe, period. I understand its not the same as getting drunk or high but you are IMPAIRING your ability to drive. When you can't see what's behind you because your mirrors are vibrating and you can't hear what's around you. You just eliminated your driving aids.

160sq feet sounds low, I'll be using more than that for my next car build.
