I'm not trying to bash JL audio but the w7 is not the best woofer. It's not the end all to car audio woofers. I would be willing to say that a saz-3000d would be perfect for a pair of SSA Icons. Another sub I would look into before going the JL audio w7 route would be the Mach 5 IXL series woofers. I'm not saying that money is the issue. If the w7 and the Icon were priced the same, I would pick up the icon. I also back the sax-100.4. Every product jacob sends out from his shop is awesome, and he stands behind his products.] What are you looking for in a front soundstage?.. If you are looking for "loud &clear with an emphasis on clear" I would suggest you start reading about: Hertz, Seas, DLS, Dynaudio, Morel, Focal and boston acoustics. You have a choice, you can go active or passive. Active set-ups almost always sound better and are actually more often than not cheaper or very close in cost to a pre-built passive set of the same sound quality.

slow night in the forum...

I haven't gotten a chance to look at the t/s parameters. I doubt it will have exceptional output. 12.7mm of one way excursion is rather tiny especially for a sq woofer which should be able to reproduce frequencies down to 20hz with ease. From what it sounds like they basically built a very low movement woofer. The reasoning behind a low movement woofer is to minimize the effects from a non-linear coil moving through the gap. They would probably sound good. They are soundstream though, which is why I'm trying to wade through their marketing bs to see what they are actually saying. And like most soundstream products they have that gaudy basket which makes it impossible to really see the internal parts.

The Legatia L8 is capable of 2000 hz, and will be crossed to a tweeter there in my set-up.

Reminds me of the material safety data we had to learn before removing pipes in a building during a renovation/asbestos removal project. - Don't sniff the white powder, you can get a nosebleed plenty fine from an arm's length away.

finally hit the halfway mark. 6 hours of work left.

It depends on how boss does it's rating. What voltage, what impedance, what distortion etc... I'm almost willing to say that companies like boss just put a # on their amps that sounds cool.

I actually like that part. It sounds high class, and it's a logo for a high class speaker company

Come on down and play.....I need some real comp.!!! Next year man. I'll try to get kristen to bring her camaro down too. Sean should drive out to, so he can hear some Hybrid Audio. (I'll be running L8 and L1 pro combo.)

B4C is the RPO code for police-package Camaros, Ford uses it too? I don't think they do. I just called them that b/c of the camaro RPO.
-
I'm leaning towards a 4th gen b4c camaro if I can find one. They normally sell for like 1500$ around where I live. And I can live with an lt1 sq car. My only requirements is that it is dependable enough for long trips (nearest SQ comp is in Virginia), and can fit 2 18" woofers in infinite baffle, so more likely gonna be a hatch. Maybe a ford escort or I could always try and buy my aunt's 92 lazer (with the 3rd gen camaro body style. Oh and it needs enough room in the kicks for legatia l8 mids and l1 pro tweeters.

Any suggestions on an SQ car guys... I'm thinking an older buick or towncar, maybe a b4c crown victoria.

Actually what I said was entirely accurate. You take the port height (from the port wall to the box wall) divide by 2 and subtract that from your port length. That was from the JL Audio formula. As noted JL audio's method does not take into account for large ports.

Charging system

I was gonna strap the 1500's. Think i'll be okay? You should be ok for everyday. I wouldn't be cruising around at max (clean unclipped) volume if I were you. -
I was sitting here and thinking about the economic benefit of going to independently owned butcher shops.

Work is soo boring, lol.

Their decals fade quite a bit in the sun. I know their space series 8" midbass is out. Don't know the price difference off of the top of my head.

2 Dual-2 subs can be wired for .5 ohms or 2 ohms or 8 ohms. 2 Dual 1 subs can be wired for .25 ohms, 1 ohm or 4 ohms. Depending on the amp you have dual 1 is most likely the best option for most of the car audio class D amplifiers (but check and see what the lowest supported impedance your amp can handle. (or in my case you would check and see at which impedance the subs will get the right amount of power because I have beastly amps).

Other than the 13w7's it looks good. For the price of those speakers you could surely do better. (the w6's are amazing just imo, the w7's are money pits.) I would suggest looking into subs more before spending so much money on them. Are you looking for loudness or the clarity. I haven't gotten a mach 5 ixl yet to play with but they have been auditioned by some of the strictest ears in the hobby and passed with flying colors. The Fi Q and SSA Icon are both very solid sq woofers that can get loud etc... I'm only suggesting this because you can almost buy a solid front soundstage and 2 awesome subs for the pricetag of 2 JL13w7's

That's $12B that went straight back into the corporate coffers. Granted, it equals jobs, but not at a 1-to-1 ratio. Much of the money spent is for merchandise imported from overseas. Yes, buying American is a wonderful pipe dream, but let's not kid ourselves. There's very little manufacturing of any quality or quantity to be had, certainly very little that would be consumed by the majority of that cash infusion. Choosing to leave politics out of the discussion is foolish. Politics caused this mess and it will have some part in fixing it. If we were to involve politics, we would have to start placing blame back during the reconstruction after world war II. It is a lot of politics.
-
I myself chose to leave out politics for the simple reason that it's a no-win argument. And technically the answer isn't boycotting gasoline, it's spending more money. Our economy is driven by cash flow. President Bush actually tried to help out country with the stimulus checks. Think of it this way. 600 dollars doesn't sound like a ton of money. Lets say 200,000,000 people got those checks, that's 12billion dollars the government just injected into our economy. If you really want gas prices to go down. Support local businesses and those companies that are all american. It's like us complaining about TC sounds. Sadly enough from a car audio standpoint, they were our Dell. Now all of those oem's will be sourced elsewhere and most likely out of this country. On the note about politics, the war is infact a major cost to this country and will hopefully end soon. Do the troops a favor though. Stop bashing them and support your countrymen that are risking their lives for us. Refuse to send money to other countries when possible. Most importantly is try to allocate as much as your spending as you can to local businesses. That might mean shopping at the farmers market but money has a weird way of multiplying.

@ 3.65 a gallon I would stop and fill up my car immediately. It would be like me getting a 3000d in the mail, I would actually be happy. 3.79 a gallon for 87 and rising.
