I think I just made my first really brash post in over a year.

Hey attaboy. If you find a better packaging job done by a car audio company, for products in jacob's price target, let us know. Until than keep your mouth shut and stop trying to raise you post count with garbage spewing. Jacob's packaging is the best I have ever seen and I have yet to see a single product come to me that has been damaged from "poor packaging".

It looks good. If it were me, the front baffle would be an outside piece, and I would put the sub about 5" away from the port wall.

Why not, my idea of a stealth install had 9" woofers in the door.

I tend to steer away from XBL2. Details ? Personal preference and I guess some what comes with it. SSA will not have an XBL2 driver. How about just an under-hung, large excursion driver, something rather efficient like a pro-audio driver? Red portion above is in the pipeline. mmm, any protos I can buy and test in the Volvo ? Not going to get you a prototype before I get one. Interested in said high excursion woofer... Especially if available in 10" for Street A. Motor width and suspension travel needed won't allow the use of a standard 10" 12 spoke. Guess I'll be using a 12" for street A. Aaron, I am going to have to send you the sketch ups of my super 10" driver that I was designing before a bankruptcy occured.

My roomie is a WoW addict. I play the game, but I'm by no means dedicated at all. That is just plain crazy. At times I miss my younger days of watching to gorgeous women get freak nasty in person on my bed.. I mainly play in the winter months as I don't get the luxury of seeing the sun for nearly 3 months.

I live in the basement by choice. Rent is free, and that is good for me as long as I'm in school. Wow 6 ft. is still tripping me out, even if it is a basement. I couldn't even stand in there, not to mention if I had to ecounter a hanging light fixture. My BIB's won't even fit in there. and there relatively small in the realm of BIB's In the northeast, in houses that are over 100 years old, 6 feet basements are the norm. Hell most houses in the northeast I have been in that are older than 30 years only have 6 or 7 foot ceilings. And yes, the pipes are lower in some area's.

I'm almost positive that I could take almost any sub and get it to play sub 30 hz frequencies.

Probably true. I'm not a low power sub guy. lol

I've never built passives but I have the ability to. My dad teaches electronics as part of his automotive curriculum and knows a thing or two. I would be open to either

idmax 12 sorry, I don't know retail on these.. so it might be a tad too much.

My room design would put the subs about 10 feet from the listening position. It can be as far as 35 feet away though. The speakers would be about 7 feet from the listening position, but can be as far as 13 feet away.

Yeah I tried to provide as much info as possible. Basically, I have my current "old" system installed, and I all ready have the new parts to put in, but I decided to not get the new kappa speakers which would have worked fine with the 6404 amp, instead I'll be getting the CDT's (or just the fronts), but either 4 channel amp would either underpowered them if ran in 4chan mode or if I used both and bridged them they would provide 300 watts a channel, which I assume would not be good to do. Anyways, I think I need to sell some stuff off I just bought and re-do what I had planned. 85 watts/4 would be more than enough for a mid-bass/tweeter

Only 6 feet, yes. (technically 6'1") I was considering line arrays due to the acoustical advantages of sitting in the "near field" I would like to eventually get a turntable, right now I primarily listen to classical (vivaldi, bach, mozart, beethoven, tchaiskovsky) etc etc. A little jazz, a lot of classical rock and some metal. IB would be difficult but possible. I figured a huge ported low tuned enclosure would work, or a huge sealed enclosure. I rarely watch movies, and I have a separate set-up for 5.1. If 5.1 would be possible, it would have to be an afterthought. I would rather have a solid 2.1 than a mediocre 5.1.

Are you want a 2ch setup or what? 2500 will get you some nice equipment. 2 channel, I would like to be able to cover the audible frequency plus some, well. So 12hz-24kz. I will be building the room, my only major limitation is my low ceilings (6 feet).
-
What would a good home audio budget be... Would 2500$ be enough for amps, a processor, etc... I don't really know much about home audio. I don't mind building my own stuff, I don't even mind building my own amps etc. I just figured if I am considering going to school for acoustical engineering I could get my hands wet with some home audio.

Let's put it this way, it would be more of a permanent room fixture, I have over 400sq feet of floor space and could easily fit a 30 cube box in my room without even noticing the missing space.
