    LSQ Build

It's your system. I'm just curious who installed the horns you heard? Where were they aimed, how much power were they seeing and what kind of processing was used. What kind of processing are you planning for your alpine f1 sets... 2x alpine h701's?

Since money obviously isn't the issue, I will suggest this again. Compression horns, and a very efficient midrange. Hybrid Audio L8's in doors l4 in kicks and image dynamics ultra hlcd's. Only one set, adding more speakers in a front soundstage doesn't = louder and is horrible for sound quality.

    NEW TO FI

There is room in a firebird, lol. I would personally do 2 12" Q's sealed if it were my car. Are you putting this right behind the back seat, in the t-top area on the side opposite of the spare tire *behind the wheel well.* I have a buddy that has a 96 camaro that is his sq car. I have seen many different iterations of a sub-woofer set-up in 4thgen f-bodies. There is a picture of one of his old set-ups in my gallery.

LMS' work well sealed? Thought they were a port only kind of sub for some reason They like ports, but a sealed enclosure the same size as your "small, low tuned ported enclosure" would probably yield better results.

    amp recommendations

Got a complex ? Sundown wouldn't have so many people riding on the companies *#%& if his products weren't so good. In the car audio world, there are very few stand-up company owners. His products are solid and he is the very best at customer service in the industry. I tend to buy products on the *Smiles per dollar* rating. I have never been disappointed with a sundown product. I can't say that about hifonics * i owned a 4 ch.*, or any of the other maxxsonics brands. When, it worked, I thought it was a great product, when it broke and I had to deal with customer service, it was a hassle.

    amp recommendations

Not really any of my buisness but why was this removed, the guy is stating his opinion & maybe even facts, nobody knows but sundown what & where there products come from. I don't believe it was even meant as a shot at sundown everybody knows that they produce GREAT amps, he's just saying & I feel the same way that everybody & there brother say that hifonics don't do there rated power, all he is asking is that someone PROVE IT not once have I seen this theroy proved or disproved. I think that's a little bit ridiculous, forums are made for opinions & debates, right or wrong ? Anyway went to babbling a little bit but what good is a forum if a person can't state how he/she feels or even debate it, This post should have been left alone UNLESS he got disproved by actual testing then kept arguing like most of these idiots do anyways. Looking at the boards there are definitely some differences. I would bet that the output of the saz-1500d and bxi2006 are very similar. The hifonics amps are cheaper, but when they are working well, they are decent amps. They have issues with not breaking from what I have seen. Their customer service isn't fun to deal with either. You just need to ask yourself if ~220 dollars is worth much better customer service and a solid amp that has a track record of being damn near bulletproof.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Oh, I forgot to mention, before I broke my finger last night. I rode an 07 Suzuki GSXR 600, that was lowered 2" and stretched 8". It was fun, and it wouldn't lift the front end. Probably the most secure I have felt on a bike in a long time (speaking in terms of crotch rockets).

    9500 VS XXX

too many variables to determine accurately, the mtx is more efficient, but you also didn't list what kind of power you would be pushing. The more power you apply, the more the XXX starts winning the race. It can dissipate more heat.

    tinsel lead snapped at terminal???

Yeo, subwoofers do what's called "unloading" below tuning frequency, the cone isn't moving properly, the sub will be moving much more than it should be and you are risking mechanical and thermal failure.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I was fricking around tonight at the car-lot. Flirting with this girl. She stole my sunglasses so I stole her truck keys, Just messing around. I ended up slamming my left index finger in my door when messing around with her. Blood everywhere, finger is all black and mangled and I didn't even get a kiss to make it feel better. Oh and 90% done on my new router table.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I'll be building my new router table tomorrow. I still need to finalize the drawings for my new table "saw" deck and fence, and I need a plunge router, than I should have all of the tools I could ever need.

Do sealed boxes have a tuning frequency?

    it's your system.

    Welcome to the IHoP

sometimes I really hate people. I am allowed to make a mistake once in a while. Sorry I'm not perfect.

Do sealed boxes have a tuning frequency?

What I can tell you is that a sealed alignment will be quieter, but it doesn't suffer from unloading. Your ported enclosure is tuned to 30 hz and your SSF is probably right there. Your ssf is probably 12-dB/octave which means that at 25 hz the sealed enclosure might be louder. The sealed enclosure does have a steeper roll-off than a ported box, but the SSF may be steeper. um wow maybe you should go back to CA. Um wow. I'm allowed to make a mistake once in my life. I'm not from CA. I will be honest, not only was what you said completely unnecessary, it was unwarranted. You could have done as helotaxi did, which was to correct my mistake, but instead you felt the need to e-bash me for making a mistake.

Do sealed boxes have a tuning frequency?

Sorry, a bad choice of wording on my part. I was trying to say that a ported enclosure can be louder.

18 btl:: not moving air but...

I also want to add that Hair trick /=/ (does not =) Loud.

18 btl:: not moving air but...

The reason why I mentioned too much port area is because the larger the port is, the less port velocity you have. If your port is too close to the hatch, it will also hurt the port velocity and change the tuning of your enclosure. Let the sub break in, and try doing hair tricks in the upper 30hz frequency area. Doing hair tricks is part skill part luck. Even the best spl guys in the world can't get a hair trick in the same vehicle with different set-ups every time. (I'm talking about street guys, those walled off b-pillar guys have an advantage.)

Curious about Amp for Legatia L841-3 active?

Zapco dc series 650.6. It's not cheap but has amazing crossovers, tuning. I think it does 100x4 @ 4 ohm and 180x2 iirc.
