Oh ya and to add.... surprisingly this brought a huge smile to my face for awhile after.... it still plays and doesn't sound to off since its in the trunk of a diamante playing a sub without a dustcap, and it just shot a piece out of itself... hmmm...

Even the most careful people can have mishaps, Glad to hear you will be ok. And remember kids, don't play with powertools.

I would have to dig up some research, but i'm pretty sure scott from Fi would do a much better job explaining why slugs don't = power, just look at the btl's.

Mark stop being a tease and show us the goods already >>

Every time I have ever tested this (well almost every time) sub back port back in a car without folding seats as long as ample room is between the trunk and the port has always provided the best results.

And one last thing, there is a reason why most spl comps require podiums for walled classes, your hearing is the most precious gift god ever gave you, don't be stupid enough to throw that away.

Ok i've been out of the scene for a while but I'll break down your post a little bit. What's your budget again? Not trying to sound like an audio-prude, but people rarely realize the cost of going big, most of these posts, the proper electrical support costs more than their intended systems. 2x Saz-3500d's= What vehicle is this going in (probably in your sig, but I didn't read it) What are your electrical plans You said streetbeater aka you need lots' o alts Oh and probably 4 batteries g31 minimum. Add in the wiring. I admire your big goals but this isn't as easy as buying subs, building box, running some wire, dropping your windows and pounding some bass. Also I would like to point out that in the wrong box, a saz-3500d will most likely not show much of a gain over a 2000 watt amplifier (and trust me I'd love to sell you on Sundown audio, Jacob's an awesome guy and won't steer you wrong). You have to take into account thermal compression especially when trying to go big. Also high power and low tuning (not meant as in low tuning for you sq guys) often don't mix. Also previously mentioned, that quite often with the right power and an experienced builder, small boxes can and will be louder than big boxes. We aren't just trying to bust your stones, but also make you realize this is much bigger than you are thinking and trying to help you in the long run.

Slimmest 8"s I know of, off of the top of my head is still Hertz (i've been out of the scene for a year + but i believe they come as a component set and are in the space series).

A long break from a lot of my life, dealt with some death, some hard life etc... But I will be popping my head in here more often. The recession hit hard and I don't have the same income as before but I'm working on that and bringing car audio back into my life. I probably won't have anything up and running this season, but that all depends on the job situation. 2010 looks good though.

Alright. I have had this car for two weeks now. I have driven just a tad over 1500 miles as well. The verdict is good. It managed 34.7 mpg average on the Cape May NJ trip (~300 miles each way). It manages 23 mpg city easily and even on shorter highway trips (ie. work) it manages to average 27 mpg weekly. Not bad for a brand new motor that isn't completely broken in. MY car is a 2008 Jeep Patriot: -5 speed manual and otherwise it's the base car with cruise control added. My bluetooth kit is ordered, and the factory 6 cd changing headunit will be going in soon, as well as the highline wheels. Highway thoughts: -Seats are incredibly comfortable even after 4:45 sitting in them. -The gear whine can get annoying from 65-70 but it quiets down at 72 mph. -It's really quiet for a budget vehicle, I can easily drown out road noise at volume 14. City Driving: -I love the power from the 2.4L I4. If I need to accelerate from a stop, It will take off faster than my standard neons, even though it is a heavier vehicle. - Low windshield is annoying if your first at a stop light *in NY they are right above you* - Drivers side blindspot is pretty big but there isn't really a passenger side blindspot. - Handles potholes really well. ---The Audio Review--- It has 4 6x9 speakers and deck power (~17 watts per speaker). There is impressive bass response down to 50 ish hz, considering that there is no subwoofer. The soundstage isn't on the floor, but it is still a little lower than I would like. I don't have the boston acoustic 458 watt 9 speaker system, It sounds better but it wasn't worth the money to me. The door speaker holes in this car are huge. When I upgrade the speakers to Morel Elate 9 3-way system, The door will fit the 8.75" speakers with minimal modification to the door metal and the plastic panel will fit it . The dash speaker locations are off axis, but because they fire into the windshield , they should still sound pretty on axis. The a-pillars will be home to many- a tweeter install and they are rather tiny *as in the depth* so they will most likely be the only area that isn't completely audio friendly. Overall for the price, it is a lot of car for the money. ---The final verdict--- I really enjoy this Jeep. It's comfy and fun, it handles mild offroading pretty well. The gas-mileage is a plus. The comfortable yet definitely Jeep interior is nice. I opted for the vinyl seats (and the tan/beige interior). I had my reservations about the white headliner but after a little adjustment (my last headliner/pillars were all black) I realized it feel very spacious and open. There is an abundance of seat space. Enough headroom to easily fit someone 6'5". I love the fact that it is easy to get in and out of the back doors as well. It definitely fits adults in the back seat. I will be glad to own this vehicle for another decade. It is fun and robust. Everyone loves it and it is probably the most comfortable jeep I have ever ridden in. Granted the Compass is idealy the same car, I love the retro old cherokee look and feel to the patriot. Overall if you are in the market for a relatively inexpensive new car that is cheap on gas money, can manage some off-roading, has ample room for 5, has great road manners and low road noise. Than the Jeep Patriot deserves a second look. It maybe on the cheaper side of small SUV's, and in my case it may be front wheel drive (4x4 optional) but it is hands down the most fun suv I have ever had the pleasure of driving in the sub 20k$ price range.

Just a wild guess here but it sounds like the amp isn't shutting off completely and therefore it is most likely going into protect for low volatge/current. Does your relay just shut off the power to the remote wire, or to the power wire as well. It should only shut off power to the remote wire, i'm not an amp designer by any means but I did have an issue last year where my battery terminal popped off and shutdown a pair of saz-1500d's (just the power wire, the deck and car was attached to the second post on the battery.) And the amps shutdown, but when I reconnected the batt. terminal they were both in protect. I had to completely shut them down and wait a minute for them to get them to come out of protect. Also you mentioned that you are using two ground points, once again I'm no expert but im sure someone else could chime in here. Cant multiple ground points cause a looping of current effect. Also can you do me a favor if you have a digital multi meter and measure the impedance of your grounds and post that as well.

Likewise, the only downside from it is when Dave habitually changes my sig and profile info every couple weeks or so, I don't know about it until someone tells me I used to get all kinds of crap at work from the nurses about the bouncing tits.

I've allready looked into that, the creator of the skin wants $350 to rebuild it in different colors. We'll have to think about it. I can just continue to use graphite, no biggie
-
I think it was funny. Lets just simmer down, no fighting.

What head unit do you have (or atleast what pre-out voltage is it) Your gain should never ever be above 3/4 with an aftermarket deck. Your Sub Sonic Filter (SSF) should be set just below your box's tuning and your LPF around 60-70 hz.
-
Mark, can you change the colors but keep the skin? Like a stone 23 for us night-dwellers

I would check out jegs.com I don't know what shipping costs are to Hawaii though.

It's not a problem at all. I'll probably use the weekend to finish building my router table ( just need to add the tracks for the guide and the holes for the router, and a sealent of some sort, b/c it likes to rain when I do wood-work.
