Astro ground pounder build, JL 18w6, U.S. Amps VLX-400s

Yeah, he loves them too...he wouldn't trade them for anything. The box rise is killing the output they are capable of though, so soon he is going to upgrade sub amps and move the VLXs to mids and highs. Lol -

Center console with Autotek 30 band EQ and Audiocontrol crossover The port for the 4th order from the driver's side -
The company that bought them said they wanted to bring Orion back to what they used to be...but they all say that. Hopefully they will at least improve over what DEI did to them.

Db drag world finals 2012
Micksh replied to Infinite913's topic in Competitions & Other Organized SPL/SQ Events
I have a few friends competing, I don't have a competition vehicle myself (yet. lol) and the build I'm doing for a friend won't be finished by then. But should be a good sized show, especially with the IASCA show going on there too... -
Nice! Sub(s) and power?

Just checked it out...love the look! -
Maybe someone saw him coming and got a heck of a deal off him for that 3500...lol

Polycarbonate is considered to be 3 times stronger than acrylic. It does scratch easier though, and it passes slightly less light through, plus it can yellow. I still prefer thicker for a window myself, but this poll could go either way.

I really wanted it, but no cash...too close to Christmas...oh well....

I think everyone is looking for "clues"...lol

I give...I don't see it either...no outrageous deal for me tonight I guess...

I'm usually not big on full fiberglass builds, (especially painted ones) but for some reason I LOVE the stitching when they covered it...it really makes the install i think.

I wish I could have grabbed more just to have them. I really wanted five in case I wanted to do a sealed wall in my truck. Have you done any modeling to see what they look like in other enclosures yet? I know they always recommended them only for sealed, but a couple of us tried some stuff on WinISD and some ported and 4th-order bandpass look promising...

We've got our 20 coming for three (or four) separate builds...

This place seems reasonable, a big variety, and they will send you free samples first... http://www.diyupholsterysupply.com/

How about Nightshade?

Most car audio shops stock the basic gray. Parts Express has some nice stuff too. You can get away with the 3M glue for unbacked carpet like that, it works fine. The contact cement, (especially the Landau top stuff) is especially important if you are doing vinyl or tweed.

I do agree with you there. My center console takes up quite a bit of space...for me the decision on an 8" had to do with width between the seats...in a trunk, I generally would go a 12" myself.

They haven't figured out that no matter how hard they try, the U.S. is NOT going to fall in love with watching soccer like it does football...

A free giveaway of a couple subs for me? Okay, never mind....was just daydreaming...
-
Like I said, I have mine as a center console box with a smaller port than optimal, and it actually sounds great...all I can say is go as large a port area you can in the space allotted, and I think you will be happy. Luckily with a small box like that, the cost isn't so bad that if you decided to rebuild it that you would be breaking the bank. I say go for it and see what you think...

If you can get it to 9x2 the port velocity drops SIGNIFICANTLY...that would be pretty sufficient for that sub with that amount of power...
