My new install :-) Lots of photos
-SuperiorSounds- replied to Mega Heavy Bass's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
That's where all those pretty little woofers have gone, Nick I did get several people approach me to do a loud car with SI, but I have seen Marcos's work in the flesh and it is simply baaaaaaaadaaaaaaaaaass. It's A1. Well thought out, and well put together. Just look at that DD install. It's gonna be hella loud. -
Tim is from Great Britain guys. He has a MK2 Magnum. Tim, I don't see why there is any need to recone yours? Last time I remember, it was absolutely fine. It's a greta sounding sub. As far as the story goes, the people who owned it before you were basically so broke, that they had to keep passing it on Good for you, bad for them. Are you ever going to get around to putting that thing into the Mini?

Box sizes for S.I. 15" magnum
-SuperiorSounds- replied to Mega Heavy Bass's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Hiya Marcos. Glad to see you're on board mate Have a word with Nick, Mr Electrodynamic, he knows his Magnums like we know the back of our hand. Tell him I sent you -
i aint seen his legs, but i'll take your word for it

Mags for me thanks On top of that, its a peopel thing. I only spoke to eD like twice in my life via email and I guess they seemed friendly enough, but Nick and SI are a totally different ballgame. He is always on hand, even when he workd 14 hour days, he replies to emails within hours (as long as they get to him ) and he will tell it like it is, especially about his own products. That is some mix of respectable qualities.

As far as the older generation Mags are concerned, they are real robust. I messed about with one below tuning a couple of times, we fed it an RFb1500 on a daily basis until the RF would shut down, we pretty much did everything with it to see when it would complain. It took all like a trooper. Dont forget impedance rise in a box. You may have 6,000RMS in theory, but the time you calculate real voltage and real world impedance rise, you wont be getting near that 6,000RMS. But anyway, the old Mags were a strong, well designed driver. Personally I think musically it wouldn't be that happy with anything over 1700-1800RMS, but for burps, I think 3kRMS a Mag would be fine, depending on install, box and all that. So in theory 6,000qualityRMS between a pair may be quite doable for SPL

Hello folks I never before came across Power Bass until I joined this fine forum. I have heard a lot of woofers at the top of their game throughout the years (SI Magnums, Incriminator Audio DP's, RE XXX's, DD's and so on) but I have never heard 1. Power Bass 2. Sound Splinter I realise there arent too many people out there who have heard all of the above woofers, but could somebody give me a pointer as to how the best woofer from companies 1 & 2 would fare up against the tried and testted super-subs, like the SI Magnum (great SQ/LSQ/SPL driver, the best all rounder I have come across) and the Incriminator Audio Death Penalty (mad streetbass sub that gets stinking loud!)..... Anybody?

Since you all love them so much!
-SuperiorSounds- replied to neilh89's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
thats nice. but 2 is better -
Power Bass vs. Other brands....
-SuperiorSounds- replied to -SuperiorSounds-'s topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
So nobody can gimme a straight answer then. Great On a serious note, whilst the XXX is a good sub you cannot knock, I find this whole XBL2 thing a liitle clinical to my ears. This is where teh Mag excels. Its much warmer and blends in soooooooo well with most fronts Its a true LSQ woofer. Oh and it doesnt weigh 40lbs+ either The IA DP is a different best. It gets uncomfortably loud and absolutely stomps. Its a helluva streetbeater and has dman good SQ for a sub that takes like a DEI 2500d+ per coil straight outta the box. Lemme know about SS/PB whenever anybody has a listen. Im curious to say the least -
is this amp foreal
-SuperiorSounds- replied to djjdnap's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i heard the visonik 800 and 900xd's were pretty solid amps. i havent played with the above personally but, and i am not 100% on this, i think it will only do the 3kRMS@18v or something like that? -
Some great excursion videos of an SI Magnum 12"
-SuperiorSounds- replied to -SuperiorSounds-'s topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
that'll teach you to buy inferior equipment oh and denim, the RFbd1500 is a great amp. i am usually very critical of stuff and moan about any small inconsistency, but cant fault the RFbd, at all, unlike the HiFonics Brutus which I think is, just, well..............a$$ can you get any cheap? -

Just thought I'd give you the heads up on a couple of videos I shot with my buddy's. Tej is now a well known entity on www.realmofexcursion.com, so has loads of movies in the SI section :-D Tej's powerplant is the RFbd1500@1ohm Sound great. Big car too. The other guy is Daniel. His Mag 12" was powered off a Brutus 1500d, which sounded ass Here goes: http://www.realmofexcursion.com/videos/Sou.../magnum12.9.wmv http://www.realmofexcursion.com/videos/Sou...magnum12.10.wmv There is also another crazy video which I will hopefully post up soon.... ENJOY! :-D -

-SuperiorSounds- replied to -SuperiorSounds-'s topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Damn you got a good eye for detail Yep, it was going nuts AND thats only from 1 12" and a Brutus 1500d (which I think are pieces of $hit personally ) -
How much longer do we have to wait....
-SuperiorSounds- replied to cjj2d's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Remember kiddies, good things come to those who wait.... ...and I have a damn good gut feeling the 2005 Magnum is going to be a killer -
SI 12" sub vs. SX, OV2, Lethal injection
-SuperiorSounds- replied to joshp's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
You cannot go wrong with a Magnum no matter what you're comparing it to. Its up there with all the big boys, the W7's, the XXX's, the Diamond TDX's except that it weighs less than them all and is more original. This thing has acult following and when you hear one, you'll sure know why -
Building a SI comp truck, need some ?'s answered
-SuperiorSounds- replied to afboy143's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
The Brutus wouldnt be my 1stchoice for an amp, but you already have one......I found it muddy and dirty (and lets not start a "richard Clark says.......as I am not interested). I would 2 different boxes. I for comps, 1 for daildy driving. Tune higher for comps, lower for streetbass and daily. What car is it? Whats the fs of the car, any idea? -

Mr Lemons is full of great slogans Every time I speak to him on the phone, he comes up with some real witty stuff Great guy, great company and equally important is the fact that they make a great product. In my opinion you need all 3 elements to be present to build strong foundations for a successful high end car audio manufactuer and SI have done just that. BIG thumbs up In the world of car audio, SI and particularly Nick, is the most professional company/person I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. This dude not only knows his stuff inside out, he'll tell it like it is, good or bad. Honest and reliable. No money can buy qualities like that. After all, look what happens to all woofer companies based on-line who dont adhere to my little test, which I mentioned above

There arent many drivers you can pound DAILY all day everyday with 2500RMS solid. I think what Bill means is thathe wants to use a 2000RMS class D amp on each woofer, with gains carefully set, and since he is prett sure he wants to go ported, due to things like impedance rise I am pretty sure the subs will rarely be seeing the REAL 2000RMS. So in that sense, I dont think a 2000RMS amp is a problem, but if we're talking about REAL and continuous 2000RMS, then the only woofer whcih sound half good and could take that power is a DD9515 - but they are like twice the price of a mag 15" Also, whoever said MT's are musical daily drivers, better think again Hell, I have tested Incriminator Audio Death Penalty's and although they are competent with SPL at 2500RMS, daily driving with 2000RMS the dust cap got warm quite quick. Moral of the stories? You dont need 2000RMS per sub to be loud when you have more than 2 15's

Hey guys its Max here I just thought I'd post and let you see for yourselves what the Magnum can really do when it comes to excursion, even though, strictly speaking, excursion isnt really that important, especially if you consider how important other parameters are. Anyhow. This a picture if a Mag 12" running off an RF1500bd in 1.8cubes tuned to around 30hz. Also, I thought Id let you know that we hit 141.7dB on the Termlab the other weekend with the Mag too, thanks to my buddy Bill's Termlab sensor You can all keep your RE's, eD's, JL's, RF's, Kickers - cos this thing does everything you'd want it to. Regardless what people think of its musical ability (a subjective subject), mic's all over hjave shown that this thing pounds like nobodys business! Oh and this is the tame shot. Add like another 20% onto the excursion you see, at least

Ok, we obviously have somebody here who doesnt know very much about subs. Xmax is never the deciding factor as to how good a sub is. Remember the Cerwin Vega Stroker? It wasnt big on xmax......but it sure as hell was one of the loudest subs for quite some time.......... Oh and from what I have seen, in many cases a Magnum will hit louder on the mic than an XXX for the simple reason that the Mag is more efficient - even though the XXX may have more xmax. -
Kiddies, you simply dont know Bill. This guy can sit in a car with 4 x 18 Juggs with a 3kw on each at about half volume, quietly reading a newspaper My opinion (and I'll wait for Nick to get his a$$ over to confirm/disagree/agree/whatever ) is that 1500RMS for 1 x Mag 15 is ample. You gotta keep in mind that the 15" is quite efficient, 91.5dB so even 1 15" with 1500RMS will be loud....but the number you wanna have will mean regular trips to casualty/local cop shop :D
