I need 4 yards of the silver comfort suede that select product sells. SP actually calls it gray but looks silver to me. Part # CSUEDEGREY Now that SP is dealer only, I'm kind of screwed. I can't find what I need anywhere else so my headliner remains unfinished! Thanks!

I know this has been asked a lot so I'll give my input. I have an SAZ-1500D which drove both a Q12 and Havoc 12 in the same ported box tuned to 33hz. I know its high but that's all the space I can afford. No BP option on the Q. I've only taken a quick listen to the Havoc, just installed it about 1 hour ago. SQ wise, not much of a difference. The real difference seems to be in the Havoc's low end presence. The Havoc seems be a little louder across the board, especially down low. There is a noticeable difference and they obviously aren't the same. My initial impressions is that if I had a choice, the Havoc is the better sub. If you are strapped for cash, the Q is a better value when comparing retail pricing. I'll post some more notes as I listen to the Havoc more. Overall, I think I can now comfortably part ways with my Q. Awesome sub but the Havoc is just a little better.

On my Q12, no options, I could run it pretty hard on a US Amps USA2000 for about 30 minutes. I imagine that a Havoc can do about the same, given that the user is responsible.

Not all tweeters are 4 ohms...not sure what RF uses. I'd go with the active setup and 100.4 which would be easier to work with than a passive crossover. Most passive xovers are simple and have phasing issues around the crossover point. Not to mention most don't compensate for the impedence changes when the cone moves. This usually results in a harsh sounding tweeter or really hard "S" sounds. You don't have that issue with an active setup. The downside is that an active setup costs more in amps, wiring, and potential electrical system upgrades. The electrical system shouldn't be an issue in most cases depending on how much current your sub amp is sucking up.

40 sq in of port area? Isn't that a bit much for a single 12? Should be more like 24-32 sq in. I'd try decreasing your port area then your port length will be much shorter for a 32hz tune, more like 24in.

single din flip out for my 04' bmw 3 series
bigjae1976 replied to fobanginvtek's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
A flip out will work with that trim panel. Double din is an option in an 04 3 series. It does require some work and you'll need to order the part that allows you to relocate the HVAC carrier to where the sunglass holder is. And you'll need this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...K%3AMEWAX%3AVRI -
Looks awesome. Maybe I can sneak one from the factory since I'm here in Korea

A split coil RE XXX would work pretty good. I have a XXX12 in a 8 cu ft box tuned pretty low, forget the exact spec. It seems to work pretty good on my crappy behringer amp. It still shakes the walls...all the walls in my house.

I thought duct tape around the screw holes will gain a couple of DB's.

Looks like a good start!

Sometimes sh1t happens...just get in contact with Fi to get your sub fixed. It might not even be your fault.

This seems like a great idea. Saves potential customers the hassle of selling their amp. Just send it in, receive your sundown amp and be done with it! That is well worth taking the hit on what you would get on the used market. That's a pretty generous trade-in offer also. I think its the other way around...much easier with amps.

Your stock alt might not last too long on a 3000D. A HO rebuild will be cheaper (an lighter) than piling batteries in your trunk. I installed a 3000d on a 120amp alt and an HC2400 and still couldn't hold 12V for very long. At least upgrade the battery though. I would also mention that your warranty might come into question running the 3000d on the stock electrical.

Where are the groceries supposed to go? Great work!

I'm sure there will be a lot of interest in this.

If you have to go sealed, the Q is the only choice. A ported BL would be your loudest choice. Think of the BL as a street basser. The Q is geared more towards an SQ sub. Both will sound good, the Q a little better. The BL will give you a little extra output.

Looks nice. Those 3 12s must be brutal. But there is no reason to have a 2 way sub stage. You would normally set your crossover to keep a certain speaker within the freq range that it is optimized for. For example, you'd place a hi pass filter at around 100 hz on your 6.5" midbass to keep it from playing sub bass notes. This protects the speakers, increases, efficiency, and enhances SQ by limiting distortion by not exceeding the speakers capabilities. With that in mind, there is no reason to cross an Fi Q 12 at 50 hz. It can easily play frequencies in that range. You are not gaining anything by installing a crossover in your substage. If anything, you might create a lot of headaches. Or it all could sound fine. But you really aren't gaining anything from doing that.

Both subs perform very well in a ported and sealed box. I had both the Q and Havoc in both sealed and ported boxes. A Havoc in a ported box tuned low really takes advantage of the low end presence. But not everyone will want to go that route. Both work very well in sealed boxes. I think the Havoc would also work better in smaller sealed boxes than the Q. The good thing is that you really don't lose much with a sealed box over a ported one on the meter if that's important. About a 2 db difference on a TL in the kick. I also think that the Havoc will give you more flexibility with enclosure size.

I'm not sure how long the truck will last. I would comment on the SQ of this but I just hear the roof flexing when I turn it up.

Chevy extended cab truck that runs on vegoil. 18" mayhem in an 8 cu ft box tuned to 28 hz. Powered by an SAZ-3000d with a Kinetik HC2400 in the cab. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for the 200 amp alt from Excessive Amperage. Surprisingly, the OZ Audio 4x6 coaxes in the dash wang pretty damned good! The box is tuned pretty low so this setup REALLY shakes everything. Its quite ridiculous. The mayhem actually sounds pretty decent until I turn it up. Then all I can hear is the roof flexing. I did a quick measurement on the TL and posted a 145. That's just hopping in the car and playing a quick sweep. I was too busy wearing out my electrical system play the 30 hz tones. The 3000d did shut down during the video due to low voltage. I really need that HO alt. I'll upload the video later...sorry.

This sub looks absolutely bad@ss! Can we expect similar box requirements as the Mayhem? Also, any ballpark estimates on mounting depth? Just what my back loves to hear!
-
Yeah, metered at 144.1. I just played one quick sweep. I didn't really have them time to mess around with it. Also, I don't think the neighbors were enjoying this whole process.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgV8tXmFEPU You have to watch it in high quality mode. Yes, I'm a really sucky camera man.

Yeah...I'll get to this someday. Sorry.
