I've seen 1 PDX install which got burning hot after a little bit of pounding. Let's face it, its Alpine so everyone is going to say how awesome it is no matter what...kind of like JL who is coming out with their own version of ICE powered amps. The 1000d is about 1.5" wider and 1" higher than the PDX. Unless you are mounting amps under a seat, the 1000d is the way to go.

Well said. The reason why manufacturing jobs are being contracted overseas is American expectation. It will be interesting to see how much lower the dollar goes. It might be cheaper to manufacture here in the distant future. Toyota and BMW are 2 companies that I know of that are actually increasing manufacturing output in the US. Adding to this is the general "not in my backyard' attitude and the regulatory costs of environmental compliance. Companies can pollute as they please in elsewhere.

Trailblazer door build, 4 x Ascendant 7in Midbass

I think the mids will be produced in a true 6.5" basket vrs the 7" baskets being used now. -

Looks like a great start! Keep us posted. -
I've got mine in a 2.0 cu ft box tuned to 33 hz and I get a pretty pronounced low end. I think that would be a good setup for LSQ.

Here is my Q vrs Havoc comparison... http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=14193 If SS is not carrying AA anymore, you could call AA to locate a dealer. I can help you if you live in Austin/Waco/Killeen. I think there is an AA dealer in Dallas somewhere on this board (BLKOFO???)

Any guestimate on the width?
-
Is this going to have multiple 1/0 ga power/ground connections? How wide are we talking about?
-
thats what the gain is for Right now, I'm using a 100.4 for a 2 way front stage. It would be nicer to have a little more power for the mid so I can lower my sub/mid crossover point some more. I'm going to be competing in SQ. My midbass needs some power so my sub doesn't pull the stage to the rear. Not that the 100.4 is inadequately powered, in fact I'm quite happy with it. But a little more power never hurt anyone. More gain doesn't = 50 more watts to the mid.
-
Great work! Glad to see the amatuers beat out the "pros". I'll probably be there in the SQ lanes.

I'd love the idea of making a 4 channel amp, 150x2 on ch 1/2 and 75x2 on ch 3/4. That's a pretty flexible amp that can be used in an active 2 way or front/rear fill setup. But I think the Sundown line is begging for a 50x4 amp which is a hole in the Sundown line. Right now, its 100 watts per channel and up. I'm glad to see the strapping feature on the SAE lines eliminated.

I was beating on my 1500D today and it didn't break a sweat. Is it behind something? BTW, where in TX are you? Forgot, I'm in central TX between Austin and Waco.

Bass Race / Demo Van Build - Sundown Audio / SPL Cell / Kicker / Casca

Good luck! Who says we're in a recession? -
http://www.partsexpress.com/resources/powe...-calculator.cfm You should use 1/0 ga for your battery to amp run. You might be okay with a 1000D on the stock system. At a minimum, I'd do a battery upgrade for the 1500D to something like an Optima or Kinetik. Ideally, you should upgrade your alternator.

ID, IDQ, or IDMax would be my first choices for an IB install. It might be difficult to find an IB 8 but you could look at Parts Express. JL used to have an IB line. An IB IDMax10 would be killer.
-
It is supposed to be a step above the Havoc. With a power rating of 2000 watts...probably SPL oriented.

I just finished an Arsenal 12D4 in a sealed box, sounds pretty good.

sad sad day...question about replacing slugg on 05 xxx
bigjae1976 replied to hunter86's topic in General Fi
That sucks...I have two similar bad stories with UPS. First, the UPS driver put my old XXX in my backyard. Never left a note on my front door so my sprinkler system soaked it for 3 days. I walked in my backyard and saw the box. Said, what the hell is this? Tried to pick it up and the sub fell out of the bottom since the box was soggy. Second, I received my XXX and the box/crate looked like they were trying to kick field goals with it. Four sides of the crate were busted. Luckily they only bent the side of the basket, the motor was fine. -
I agree...why do you think JL tries to get $1000 for a 13W7? In certain applications, looks do matter. Like when you are doing all plexi enclosures for a pure show car. I would guess that 99% of us here on this forum really don't give a sh1t about that crap. We just want the best sound possible since we are either hobbyists and/or enthusiasts.
-
Glad u r ok. Looks like it is fixable. I'd secure the sub box in case there is a next time.
-
I know but I was referring to a single sub application. You can use either the 100.2 @ 8 ohms or 1000D @ 2 ohms - either one works pretty well for a single SD-1 v.2 I know...just being picky.

I just finished 2 crew cab p/u installs and these subs would have been perfect. I'm finding out that cramming an AA Assassin under the back seat is a PIA...let alone a Chaos 10. I will see a lot of pickups here in TX. A sale on these would be interesting. Do these come in a single 4 or dual 2 ohm coil? I would definitely use these in a lot of p/u truck installs under the rear seats running off a 100.2.

Recone for a 12" Fi Q. I talked to Nick, just need price.

Why not buy the recone and see if someone local can help you out with the recone? -
Duct tape...and you will be good to go. Seriously, the Arsenals can handle some power. I'd call AA and send it in for a recone. Customer service is great!
