That's all you have? 12 sundown amps? j/k...the van looks awesome! Nice work.

Just wondering what you meant by this statement. I have been finding a ton of drivers I have been using lately sealed, will not get above 63hz. I need something that will get to around 72hz. Is this possible with the Havoc? Also, I think I have asked this before, but do you know the Le? The Havoc in the 2 cu ft box was a low end monster. What I was getting at was that you probably could put the havoc in a smaller box tuned a little higher.

Remember, AA is a dealer brand...so the expectation is that the dealers will have product info.

Explorer, AA Havocs, RF T10001bds = Vids!!!

I don't think that back window will last very long! -
I have plans for a deeper driver later for the guys that can fit a bigger driver - but I want this one out first since it fills a sorely needed niche, IMO. Any plans for a nice, smooth sounding silk tweet to go along with this mid?

That setup will be very loud and has the potential to beat out most similar JL setups as far as pure SPL.

I love it...maybe stitch "Sundown" in the dust cap? That would make it look pretty damned sweet looking!

Awesome! I always hate picking up those 2400s...that 3800 must really suck! The spec sheet says it weighs 100 lbs.

Thanks for adding my car...is there anyway you can move it to the dealer rides section?
-
So the 100.4d will be about 18.5" long, correct?

I had a similar "issue" when I was doing non-car audio related work to my car. I also have a relay connected to my turn on lead on the SAZ-1500d. Basically, if I turn the car on and off real quick, the sub amp only won't come back on until I turn the head unit off and on. I'm guessing it is something with the relay...not a big deal so I never really looked into it. I wasn't aware of that is was bad to power up a class D amp without speakers hooked up. I'm pretty sure I've done this a couple of times. Not really worried about it...just putting this out there.

sundown nightshade vs ia dp vs fi btl
bigjae1976 replied to streetbeater07's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I think you are only looking at a 1-2 db difference...max. You'll probably be happy with anyone of those. If I had a choice, I like the nightshade mounted with the basket facing out...that polished basket looks nice! -
Deflex Pad? What does everyone use behind their mids in their doors?
bigjae1976 replied to Smondo17's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I use Raammat and ensolite foam. I added an extra square of ensolite behind the mid. It seemed to get rid of the peak I was getting around 125 hz. It made a subtle difference but well worth the effort. -
You will be good unless you plan on running the 1500d at 1/2 ohm and all of the SAX amps at 2 ohms and frequently abuse them. You could add an HC600 or HC800 in the trunk for a little extra juice but its not really needed. You def need more current than that.

The plastic mesh hats would be great. Something like this...

People like that should be banned from touhing anything! Sounds like one of the guys at the local shop. lol I was aware of this being a possibility so the amp is behind a trim panel secured by some security screws. I guess he was able to bend the panel back enough to get his fat arm in to turn up the bass boost. The boost was ALL the way up.
-
I put 2 Havoc 12s on a 3000d in a Dodge Charger. Everything was good until the guy's idiot brother cranked up everything in the car labeled "bass". The little bastard even got in the trunk and cranked up the bass boost on the amp. But yes, they will work under the supervision of a responsible adult.

Zapco 9.0 vs Sundown 3000d
bigjae1976 replied to mdexxxiv's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Personally, I was considering the C2k and Sundown amps for my current install. With the 9.0, you get a lot more processing power and features. IMO, you need to use the symbilink cables and all of the other gadgets to make the 9.0 worthwhile. You'll get more raw power with the Sundown 30000D without all of the frills of the Zapco amp. The only downside is that its 9" longer. Don't get me wrong, the 9.0 was an awesome amp. Both amps sounded great with no discernable difference in SQ. I listened to the Zapco in a store demo car, the Sundown in my car. Maybe I would hear a difference if I switched between the two amps in my car. 2 BTL 18's? I think the Sundown amp is a better fit. -
Sealed - 138.1dbs... I am surprised it got that high. My XBL2 XXX 12 in a sealed box hit 136.7 dbs. I am thoroughly impressed. So I experienced a loss of 2.3 dbs going sealed. While it is significant for competition purposes, that's not a huge number. Smaller than the generally accepted loss of 3-6dbs between a sealed and ported box. I'll be able to test it out in a month or so. I'm assuming you'll get more low end, which you already get plenty of. Polyfill might be more useful in a smaller box.

The Havoc is louder down low, the Q has a little more output approaching 80hz. Unless you are tuning the sub really high, I would suspect that the Havoc would generally meter higher. The Havoc gives you a little more output and slightly better SQ for the extra $$$. Whether it is worth it is purely up to you. All of AA's stuff is top notch for the price range. I haven't heard a better sub at each price point, with the exception of Fi. Keep in mind that AA is sold exclusively through dealers so there isn't a whole lot of info on the website. So the assumption is that you have to go to a dealer to get more info. To quickly describe all of AA's lines... Assassin, Arsenal, Chaos - all-around good performers with varying power handling capacities. Havoc - flagship LSQ sub Mayhem - flagship SPL sub There is more to it than this of course!
-
Weird considering they use the exact same terminals...lol I thought so too. I spent about 15 minutes trying to shove the wires in there. I had the Q right there and the wires fit perfectly. No problem. Everyone who has one loves it. Its a pretty amazing sub and has held up pretty well. I'm working in a sealed vrs. ported review as well.

Possible plan B...Chaos 12 instead of Havoc 12
bigjae1976 replied to headknocker's topic in Ascendant Audio
The Chaos is a good all-around performer...just like all of their lines. I think the Havoc is well worth the extra money. The good thing about the Chaos is that they are optimized for small ported boxes...a little smaller than the Havocs. Bad thing is you really don't have an option going sealed with the Chaos. It sounds like poo-poo to me. -
These subs are great performers...well worth the $439.
