    Multiple Sundown 3000

You might be able to get an audiocontrol overdrive cheaper. Ideally, you'll luck out and get a matrix cheap. 1 pair in and up to 3 pairs out.

    Video - 18" Mayhem on a 3000d

Still trying to figure out how to convert the files on my camcorder to one that I can upload. All I get is a .vob file from my camcorder. Today, I was demoing the sub at a friend's house. The neighbor comes running out, complaining how my bass knocked some glass decoration off her shelf. Not sure if it was true but she was pretty pissed off. Needless to say...I didn't ask her if I could take a pic of the broken glass. But I've tuned this sub so damned low it just shakes everything. I can play a 26 hz test tone with the low pass crossover set pretty low. Can't hear anything but you can see the whole truck shaking. Anything higher, all you hear is the roof flexing. Pretty sick...would be better if I can get some videos up

Need some info on the Legatia Pro

I've been doing a lot of comparing and the L7/L1 Pro combo seems to be on par as far as numbers and reviews with the nobelium. I really like how the L1 Pro tweet goes so low. Now I just have to get the guts to take out my OZ Audio's. I've spent so much time with them (12 years) and know them so well. This might take awhile to move on. But I guess its time since OZ Audio is no more. Thanks for all the help!
  4. I've been an OZ Audio for the past 13 years. Unfortunately, they are no longer making speakers. I've been looking for a new company to go with as far as speakers and have been hearing a lot of good things about Hybrid. I can't seem to find any specs on the Legatia Pro series? Specifically the 6.5" comp set (or 7.1?). My speaker locations have a very limited outer diameter and mounting depth. Thanks

    duty cycle

I've pounded on an SAZ-1500d for over an hour in the texas heat (105 degrees)..didn't shut down. Unless you are going with RF's Type RF stuff, you'll find that Sundown is a much beefier product. The 1500d is pretty heavy. In fact, it weighed and little more than my US Amps USA-2000x.

Need some info on the Legatia Pro

One of my favorite cars that I've heard uses Nobeliums...I don't think there's too much of a drawback for either when it comes to the tweets. When it comes to the midbass, I'd rather have the L6's or L8's I haven't heard the Leg. Pros yet, that could likely change my opinions towards the Hybrid. And I've heard enough JMLabs stuff to know what a bright tweeter sounds like I know what you mean. I had a run in with some MB Quart Series tweets. Wow, I thought my ears were going to bleed. Thanks for the comparison. Right now, the only drawback with the Hybrid drivers is that the L6 midbass might not fit.

BOX DESIGN for AA HAVOC 18

Doesn't matter as long as the baffle is braced. Just make sure you account the bracing in your int vol calculation. It will be a significant amount given the size of your box. I built a similar box awhile ago and I put the speaker closer the one side. Then braced the middle of the box with some 2x4s. I did exactly that in a 94 Chevy p/u. That thing plays seriously low and loud! I turned the lowpass filter down to 40 hz and everything would shake violently. Pretty cool!

Jacob You Got To Be Kidding Me...

You forgot to mention VERY competitively priced against other amps in its "league".

    2 Arsenal Series 12s sealed?

They will sound pretty good sealed.

Need some info on the Legatia Pro

I've been looking at some DLS Nobelliums. And the consensus seems that the Hybrids are a little brighter. Any listening fatigue? Are you using an active setup? How much power are you sending to them? I'm very sensitive to a bright tweeter. I prefer something smoother like a dynaudio tweet.

Need some info on the Legatia Pro

Duh...I didn't see that link on Hybrid's webpage. Looks like the tweet and 7" will fit. My only complaint about the OZ Audio CS180s I have is that they are so inefficient. Otherwise, they sound awesome. Hopefully, the Legatia Pro series can improve upon that because I would like a little more volume at times. Unfortunately, I don't have room to put another monster amp for the midrange. So I'm pretty much stuck with the Sundown 100.4. The Legatia series looks to be built well. The L1 pro tweet is beautiful, can't wait to see what the Pro6 mid will look like. I'm thinking about taking a roll of the dice and getting these without taking a listen. I've been pleasantly surprised before!

    AA Chaos

What about a Clarion 1551? are those any good? An SAZ1500D would be much better.

    Ghetto box 148.3

This is definitely front page material for the Sundown Audio gallery pages!

    AA symbol?

I thought the clef was an Fi symbol.

    Havoc 18 videos

    Just curious...why?
  16. bigjae1976

    Having problems with amps.

The cable is a regular telephone cord with an RJ-11 connector. I'd bet that it is a defective cable. It doesn't take a lot to mess them up, probably pinched somewhere. If want an official Sundown Audio remote gain control cable, PM me. I have a bunch laying around. I usually use bulk telephone cord and crimp my own RJ-11 connectors on the end.

Why No Love for the SD-1's?

Those SD-1s are pretty damned good! Only crappy thing is that they were all 8 ohm. My theory on the SD-1s... People see a sub with a stamped steel basket and they think it is weak. Plus, when Sundown is peddling 3000 watt amps, who wants a 150 watt sub? Unless you buy 20 SD-1s! But how many people can fit 20 subs in their car/truck? The average joe is going for 1-2 subs. IMO, AA and Fi have cornered the sub market in this forum. Although the Nightshade seems to be doing quite well.

    what a crapy weekend !!!

Glad you are ok. You should demand that Fi/Sundown reimburse you for the tow and control arms since their products put the extra stress on your suspension! Seriously, you are really lucky you didn't crash. The control arms are what holds your front suspension together.

    Havoc: sealed vrs ported

Luckily...AA's site is up with the specs. I haven't tried my 12 with polyfill yet.

    Havoc: sealed vrs ported

Here are the stats Powered by a Sundown SAZ-1500d Ported: 2.0 cu ft tuned to 33 hz metered at 140.4db, TL in the kicks. Sealed: .85 cu ft, no stuffing - haven't had a chance to mesure yet. Started out with the ported box. Here is my initial review http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...mp;#entry408101 The Havoc does it all! Lots of output, razor sharp SQ, looks good, doesn't cost 4 figures, and is very reliable. But I've always felt that the 2 cu ft ported box was a little big and put a little too much emphasis on the low end. The sub will get low, the question you should ask is how much do I need from 65hz+. Now, going with a sealed box. I like it much better with the biggest reason being that the box is about 1/3 the size. My gut feeling says that the Havoc likes a small sealed box better. As you'd expect, the Havoc sounds a little better and can handle the power for longer periods of time. The best part is that I haven't lost too much output. While this may be unacceptable to someone trying to get every last db, I think others will gladly accept this trade off. Bottom line is you can use this sub in a sealed box and still post some respectable #'s in the SPL lanes. As I said earlier, the best part is that I've gotten my trunk back. I can fit all of my hockey goalie gear in the trunk. I will do a run on my TL sometime soon.

AA CHAOS 12" VS AA HAVOC 12"

A Chaos will work fine on a 1000d. I'd stick with the Havoc if you plan to go sealed. The Chaos is more of an all-around good performer suited to a ported box. The Havoc is like a step above in terms of output but als has excellent SQ. Personally, I'd go with the havoc unless your budget is $300 or less.

    I have a 12.

    AA Chaos

If you get 2 Chaos subs, an SAZ-1500d is perfect.
  24. Does anyone know where I can buy a copy of the USACI SQ disc with Hotel California? Or if someone can burn me a copy, I'd be willing to pay...of course.

    Havoc: sealed vrs ported

I'd say that the XXX and Havoc are pretty similar. Its tough to really say since there was an 18 month gap between selling my XXX and getting the Havoc installed. If anything, I like the Havoc better because it weighs LOT less and basically achieves the same level of performance. I can't comment on the mag. The Havoc beats the JL hands down.
