I've got a ported Q12 and I scored 138.1 at SA Heatwave in an SQ setup in a BMW. Newer BMWs are HORRIBLE for SPL. So you'll get plenty of output from a single Q12 in a pickup truck. Low end monster? Accurate sub bass? You're describing a Q.

If you are getting BLs, why not go with 2 12s instead of 3 10s? The BL is the step in between the Q and BTL as far as power handling and is more SPL oriented. Everyone seems to be happy with the SQ of the BL so far. Unless you are a real sound quality wh0re, the BL might suit you better. If you REALLY want to go with 3 10s and a Sundown SAZ-3000d, I think a Q would be a better match for power.

Yes, IB. I am planning on crossing it over around 250 hz with a 24 db/oct slope. Then installing a 4" mid and tweet in the kick panels.

Will the new Assassin 8 work well in a free air application? I'm looking to do 2 door mounted 8's for midbass duty.
-
I've heard that you should turn the volume up to loosen the suspension. I did that and I've had no issues.
-
I think a BL will suit your style if you have 1000+ watts on hand.
-
I don't think the SE is close to the Q in terms of SQ. This could be my subjective opinion but you'll be happier with the Q.
-
Still a great sub...probably could get $250 for it.

I have a 10" RE SE in my Hyundai accent and a 12" FI Q in my BMW. The Q sounds better. Tough to compare but I am willing to bet the Q will be louder also.

You can get an older US Amps USA-2000 for about $600. That amp is a beast. Might be a challenge to fit in your trunk though.

What kind of car are you getting?

I went from a 05 XXX 12 to an Fi Q...comparison below. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7404

From past experience, I'd get the single BTL. Because 99% of us here upgrade sometime down the road. Why spend the money on 2 BLs when you'll probably end up with 2 BTLs. Just my $.02

The look of 4 10s moving is a lot more interesting than a single 15. If show is the goal, I'd go with a multiple sub setup. Why not 4 10's ported? Either way, you'll be happy but I'd go with 4 Q10s because I like the sharp response when listening to techno and hard rock.

Great to hear! That's insanely loud...AC or TL.

I have 2000 watts on a Q12 and it gets hot very fast when I go full blast. I always have to be careful with it...I'd get the BP option for peace of mind.
-
I've seen a couple of people ask and Scott says he can change up the Q a little to accomodate an IB setup. The Q should be even more of a low end monster in an IB alignment.
-
Just get 1/0 so you won't have to upgrade again.
-
What year/model BMW? You might have some trouble getting a ported 15 in your trunk if you are getting a 3 series (any year). Might want to go with a BL12 instead.
-
The Q is surprisingly light and small for its capabilities. They do get loud in a sealed box with a noticably sharper response over a porter box.
-
IMO, the sharper transient response of the Q in a sealed box outweights the output gain of the ported box. With that said, I'd try a simple sealed box first and see if you like it. A 1.2 cu ft sealed box shouldn't set you back too much. Your ears will be the best judge.

Shipping weight is 27 lbs.

I'd keep the stock rims...never know when you'll need/want them. If it were me...I'd go with a BL or Q for a daily use car.
