The perfect's should handle the power a bit better, but about 400 watts RMS a piece is their limit. However, the perfect's might not work as well in a 3.0-3.5cf ported box as the MAW15 would, so the MAW could be at an advantage there.

Oh the shenanigans that all those subs could be the cause of!

So yeah, even with better amp grounding causing less voltage drop on my voltmeter, and enabling my other 1/0g power line, I was no better then before. No matter if I was revving the crap out of the engine, or if the battery charger was connected. Simply, the subs don't get any louder past a certain wattage, which I'm guesstimating to be in the 600 watt range, while my amp can put out about 1000 watts per sub. And just for jokes, I played some music with the drivers side windows down, loudest was AM Kidd's - Bay Wid it, pushing 146.1db. It sounds LOUD as heck inside the car, and now it's confirmed that it's loud outside the car too Interesting, I only got 142.5db with the windows closed on that track... The next step is to port the box, probably going to use a single 6" PVC pipe pointing upwards, tuning the box to between 35-38hz. I really hope I can crack 150

Ah maybe, but it didn't make any difference going from a 10amp car charger to having the car running @ like 4-5krpm. The subs have to be compressing a lot at that power level anyhow. Thanks puggs, I'm happy with it, I just want more, as always

pair of 4ohm MJ18's in 3.25cf sealed each, off an Earthquake PH-D3. Dual 1/0g power wires, big 3 underhood, freshly rebuilt 85amp alternator, 1.5 year old energizer battery.
-
I'm sure you have videos of that, Mark

If he never watches anything with stuff below 20hz, the 21hz tuning would be gerat (even better with a subsonic filter). Otherwise, the 18hz tuning has at least 3db oevr the 21hz tuning at anything below ~18hz or so... which mean a LOT more fun in the super low octaves
-
Great looking amps! Any idea on the specs and possible crossover features of the 50.4? BTW, FYI, if you say that the 50.4 has a full 24db/octave highpass/lowpass on each channel with the ability to bandpass the "rear" channels, I think I'll have to sell my AC 2xs, MTX 2150x and my a/d/s PS5 and get one little unit to replace em all

I kinda know the guy, so that's why it was so cheap. It was either $80 or $100 the first time. It's just a PITA to get the alternator in and out of the car is all.
-
Haha just kidding Mark, but my alternator took a dump today. I was driving along, tunes cranked all the way, and then I notice that I'm getting a lot more voltage drop on my voltmeter... kinda cool until my amps shutdown cuz the voltage dropped below 11 on the beats Long story short, it doesnt charge much at idle, and I'm hearing a whining noise coming from the alternator. I'll be taking it in on Wednesday to get it rebuilt and see what actually fried. I should be able to make it to work and back tommorrow with it, unless I can bamboozle my dad into driving me, which I doubt.
-
So I got it rebuilt, for $20 I might add , and it looks like it's sitting at a pinch more voltage, both while idling, and while bumping Here's to hoping for 148db's
-
This one was actually rebuilt about 6 months ago, that's the crappy part. I do all of my own car work, for the most part, so this is only gonna cost me ~$80, but it's still $80 I really dont want to spend on this.... need to buy summer tires very soon. Stock ~80amp capacity alternator BTW.
-
Nope I've had the big 3 forever, but I actually just upgraded my amp grounds this weekend. Instead of dropping from 14.4 to ~12.4, I was only dropping down to ~13.6, and I could definetly hear it through the subs too, I'm positive they got a bit louder. At least it felt like it. Puggsley, hopefully I dont end up with a track record like yours! hehe.

I agree with mark's recommendation of a single 6".
-
Great news, I especially like how it handled the 2kw @ 20hz in free air.... Makes me wonder how stiff the spiders are though! Glad to hear that they're loud though
-
Sorry to hear about the breakup. But now you get to put in a big system The MAW15's would be fine with 700 watts RMS, just have to watch your excursion. Perhaps a removeable port so you can have one tuning at 35hz for daily driving, and then another maybe in the 50's for SPL comps?
-
Nice, I bet they do a lot more then the P1's do... I dont really like the Punch series at all, the Power's are pretty good looking though... physically and spec's too.
-
You know the little guy's gonna have a massive system when he gets his first car That is a BEEFY sub though, can't wait to see the results
-
Proto SPL sub fun... need your suggestions!

Sounds like the power's there I think a single one of these in a wall, ported with a massive port would be kinda cool, but a lengthy proposition. Maybe a tiny box with 2-3 BIG external aeroports? -
http://www.sounddomain.com/ride/2346787/12 So far they're in 3.25cf sealed a piece... if I need to, I can always port them to 40 or 45hz with a pair of 6" ports per sub, and hit the magical 150 mark fairly easily But I want to try for 150 without porting

Pretty strong looking, but are we talking 27mm Xmax or Xsus?
