Some people swear by caps, others hate them. Personally I've never seen good results from one, besides looking fancy. I'd put in a small battery. Just my thoughts. My last cap needed a remote wire to turn on-like an amp, I'd do like they said and check you aren't missing something.

I'd use both for audio

Buildin my first fiberglass enclosure!

If you have your port 24 inches long, and it should be 26, it really isn't going to make that big a difference imo (at least to my ears it never has). I'd just do the 24 inches you can, and see if you like it. I prefer ported too. I'd try your original plan, just see how it goes. You can always make a new sealed one if you have to. -
ch 2, you live in MD? I might be there in Baltimore/essex area this summer for a while.

awesome Adrian_D, glad to know I'm not alone

I'd try home depot or sears. I bought a weller 100/200 a few months ago at h/d. Think you can pick up 140 at sears. Good luck- and imo it's ALWAYS worth paying a little more for good tools. Every time I havent I've come to regret it.

I think out of any company I've ever dealt with, regardless of product type, Fi has been the best hands down. Customer service is 1 of a kind, and the guys are alway helpful and quick to respond. Any problems they are there to help you.

I 2nd the loaded BL. The BTL doesn't really come alive till you give it over 2kw. I think the BL would be right at home on that amp.

I'd like to know a price too!!!!! I have 2 memphis 4k now, would like to buy 2 more or if the rfs are decent maybe switch to 4 of those, just let me know please.

Great job to everyone. It's an understandable 2nd to the 20 15s, that van looks sick. http://www.spokaneadjusters.org/images/SAA...up_Trophy_2.JPG Not quite fitting, but it's a trophy! sorry, had to do it. sick sence of humor I'd really like to see the trophy as well, see what I need to shoot for! http://www.disabled-angler.co.uk/presenting%20trophy22.jpg

Looks great. How does it sound compaired to those xxxs? My dad's 70 (I'm your age shawn) so I grew up to him playing blue grass or talk radio -he didn't even want to replace the blown factory speakers

sd on 4 12s --> 480cm^2 x 4 = 1920 sd on 2 18s --> 1210cm^2 x2 = 2420 You'd need 5 12s to have similar effective area as 2 18s, although the 18s will need about twice the air space as 5 12s. I just like my 18s soo much.... I say 2 18s. Everyone loves big speakers, they'd be awesome for a show.

If you have some options and it's a clean (undistorted) 4kwatts, I say go for it. I've got a memphis 4k on each of my BTLs and they take it fine. Steve Meade and many other forum members are overpowering them quite a bit with no problems I've heard of. If you smell burning, turn it down.

internal dimensions, with doubled faceplate (not entire box), bracing, and a shared chamber with a port 5x46.5x16 will give you a final result around 11-11.5 feet net after all displacement depending on the bracing and if you adjust the tuning. thats right in specs (even if sort of close to minimum requirements), and if you even tune a little lower you'll probably be a bit happier with the response (more flat response-geared towards better sq for daily listening). If you're willing so sacrifice a little spl you could fit 2 15s in there very comfortably with a better response curve, but I say do it! You'll probably be very happy with the 18s. Good luck.

It depends on the power you have, the enclosure, the vehicle, and other things as well. I have a love hate thing for blazers, because it's so easy to get them loud. I heard 2 12" kicker comps sealed with 300 watts a piece in a blazer that shocked me. Crap box, prefab and simple, but his vehicle made it sound like a much larger system. Just an example. It depends on what 'slam hard' is to you. How many subs, what size, what enclosure, how much power, and what vehicle/space are you working with?

I had to add my .02. Mainly to explain why I think Fi is a great company. At least now he has some solid positive feedback on the BTLs.
-
I used bolts as well, 3/8", and I'm very happy with how it turned out. I like the look of it-and like you said- never have to remove the subs to change coil config. looks good by the way.

I think after displacement you'll have closer to 4ft^3 (port:>1.5ft, sub .3ft, bracing=closer to 2 ft^3, leaving more like 3.7ft), maybe even a little less depeneding on tuning. If I were you I'd give that space to a 15, I think you'll have a much smoother response. You could make an 18 fit, but after displacement the minimum recommended enclosure is 5ft. My thought on it.

Underoath kicks ass! amazing show when they came to the HOB here last summer. Plus for rock they have great clean hitting bass.

I'd repost in the Fi forum.

I'm trying to find something myself. Need 6.5 components to replace my cdts. Was considering infinity kappa perfects, but my old ones were just so bright, really want something that will sound clean and get loud. Yes, turning down the bass would be an option, but that defeats the purpose of getting beefy subs and sub amps. I'd like for everything to be loud.
